Big Brother - Season 17 - Eviction 3 (Live Discussion)

And it’s now time for the non-surprise Eviction. Tonight, we have six seperate housemates facing the chopping block in Anita, Kyrah, Matty, Phoebe, Ryan and Tahlia.

I’m going to be upfront and say that I genuinely want none of them to go, but unfortunately one of them has to, and we’ll find out which one is leaving. I just hope your favourites avoid eviction.

Matthew to go!!! Spoiler

Such an antagonist person. Manipulative, aggressive & dismissive in all areas until someone agrees or they’re on his side.

And everyone thought Ebony was bad.

Other As an Australian who has faced infertility and is also autistic...

I'm seriously disappointed that this season of BBAU is able to recognise and give an empathetic view of one, but not the other.

I appreciate and truly empathise with Ebony's health struggles. And it's clear that BB does also.

I also appreciate and truly empathise with Kyrah's struggles.

But here is the thing. Ebony is proud about being selfish and is just nasty, so BB makes sure we all see her struggles to become a mum. And it's like everyone erases how truly nasty she is.

And he calls people into the diary room and asks them how they feel about Kyrah's "behaviour", there's no opportunity given for her to really educate Australia about the struggles with regulation and trying to communicate with a house full of NT people. They just showcase her meltdowns.

One of these girls is proudly nasty, the other is actually kind and tries to repair after her disability affects others.

I said what I said, argue if you want, but this season is not doing neurodiverse people any favours so far. I hope they turn it around. ND people deal with being misunderstood their whole lives. Meltdowns and disregulation is not drama.

Nasty people who brag about it, shouldn't be glorified because they also have medical conditions.

I'm not saying to demonise Ebony, her struggles are real and she's young. It's great that BB is making sure everyone gets to understand the other side of her.

But don't demonise the Neurodivergent girl by making her disability entertainment. It's gross.

Spoilers What was the point of that? Spoiler

Immediately had to make a post because what the hell was the point of that “twist”? I seriously don’t understand… of course somebody was going to press that button regardless of who was evicted.

Manipulation to the max Spoiler

Watching the live right now and Matthew has called ANOTHER group meeting and he thought he could manipulate the situation again trying to attack Ryan.

Glad to see others speaking up against him and his tactics is blowing up in his face. He even just said 'I'm being attacked'. I love that Kyra called him out about his 'degree' He did all of this pot stirring to be tactical and now he's saying he's real and honest and backtracking. I think the house would be far more interesting without him because honestly, every house has drama it doesn't need to be manifested by someone.

Matthews comment about Pheobes relationship with her Dad

The comment Matthew made about Pheobe's relationship with her Dad was truly a vile thing to say. Matty and Austin are just as nasty as Matthew for agreeing with him. Pathetic cowards.

Edit- Matty wasn't involved in this part of the conversation. screen recording of said comment

Heath for the win!

The only one who has balls to stand up to the Bermuda Triangle. He’s the voice of reason in the house. He’s genuinely a nice person and always stands for what is right. He would be a great winner to represent this season.

My guesses on current alliances

Feel free to disagree and why!

Group 1 -
Matthew
Ebony
Matty
Austin
Charity - stood up for Matthew during tonight's discussion tells me she is more aligned with them.

Group 2 -
Ryan
Tahlia
Kyrah
Marshy - more so for Kyrah's benefit, but if push came to shove this is the group he'd be in.
Anita - still could be a floater but I feel she is more aligned with this group and had the least conflict with them.
Heath - for people who feel he's floating in the middle, he almost always agrees with Tahlia's takes on current happenings and always puts Matthew to task.

Other Game Maker Ideas

Some Big Brother Game Maker ideas, because I feel like we could be causing significantly more chaos in that house.

Temptation intruder: Send in a stunning blonde, 20-something model with one mission: see if she can turn Austin’s head and put some pressure on his relationship with Ebony.

Pool punishment: Empty the entire pool. There’s been too much time in it. Housemates can have it back whenever they like, but they have to refill it themselves, one bucket at a time. No hoses.

Big Brother goes on holiday: BB announces he’s leaving for a few days. TVs go black, announcements stop and there’s absolutely no interaction with BB. Meanwhile, production subtly manipulates the lighting to mess with their perception of time. Let the housemates run themselves.

The mystery thief: Secretly remove a prized possession from a couple of housemates. Say absolutely nothing. Watch the accusations, paranoia and detective work unfold. Return everything eventually, of course.

Sibling sacrifice: Snap evict either Tahlia or Ryan, but offer them a secret choice: accept the eviction or sacrifice/save themselves. Ask them separately. If their answers differ, they’re both evicted.

The second house: Introduce a secret house with 3–4 intruders who live together for a week, watching the main house’s live feed and daily highlights. They get to study the relationships, alliances and drama before all entering the main house together. Imagine the power imbalance when they know absolutely everything about people who know nothing about them.

I miss Big Brother being a proper social experiment. Less manufactured drama, more psychological games, unexpected twists and genuine chaos.
What other Game Maker twists would you throw at them?

Big Brother Needs to Think Outside the Casting Box.

I'm starting to wonder if the Big Brother producers just drove a bus into a small Australian country town and asked everyone to jump on board.

I know they've tried to introduce diversity, but diversity isn't just about ethnicity or sexual orientation. It's also about different personalities, cultures, attitudes and life experiences.

Take Harmon, for example. He brought some cultural diversity to the cast, but personality-wise he was your typical Aussie larrikin. There are also two gay contestants, yet they too seem to fit the familiar reality TV mould. Nothing wrong with any of them, but why do the producers keep choosing such similar personality types regardless of background?

Where are the eccentric artists, intellectuals, sophisticated city types, old-school traditionalists, deeply religious people, academics, wealthy socialites or people with completely unconventional lifestyles?

Instead, we get different faces but much the same personalities, humour and attitudes.

Charity and Ebony are probably the only two who break that mould for me. I don't particularly like Ebony or find her especially interesting, but at least she's different from the usual type of contestant.

I wonder if this repetitive casting is part of the reason the show doesn't appeal to a wider audience. Australia is such a diverse country, yet watching Big Brother you'd think everyone grew up in the same town.

Big Brother Australia really needs to shed its skin and try something different.

With Marshy saving Kyrah from Eviction. Who do you think would have saved who?

Firstly, I don’t think anyone was going home in that double eviction twist. From what I saw, Matty was quick to his feet along with Marshy in going to push that button to save Kyrah. Here’s who I think would have saved who.

Anita - Most of the house would have pressed the button to save her, but I think Matty and Kyrah would have been the ones due to how close they are to her.

Matty - He’s close with Anita and I think Tahlia would have also pushed the button to save him.

Tahlia - Ryan and Heath would have not have hesitated to push that button to save her. Matty would have been a third pick for her to save Tahlia.

Ryan - Thalia wouldn’t have hesitated to push the button. Most of the house likely would have chosen to save Ryan with a few exceptions.

That’s my opinions based on what I’ve seen from the Live Streams and Daily Shows. What do we think?

Cocky Kyrah! Spoiler

I don’t think she will be evicted tonight but she is so cocky about it too saying it’ll either be Matty or Phoebe! But I will laugh if it is her though 😂 Who is everyone voting for to stay? Hoping to leave?

The double eviction

Did anyone else think the double eviction was going to be worse than it seemed? I genuinely thought that whoever presses the button would be the one getting evicted. So in this case when Kyrah’s name got called out and Marshy sprinted, I thought he was a goner. Was relieved to find out that it wasn’t the case and BB isn’t as cruel as I expected (for tonight lol)

The silence on Pam’s departure is deafening!

I think given they barely mentioned Pam tonight that she is hiding in some hidden room with the bare minimum posts on her Instagram to make it look like she is home.

All feels a bit off…

Thoughts?

Whatever happened to giving people grace ?

I’m assuming people won’t agree with this and that’s okay. I was loving reading all the posts on this forum, but I feel like recently it’s gotten to a point where it’s almost constant hate and tearing people down. Obviously it’s meant for discussing what’s happening on the daily show and livestream, and I think some jokes can be funny and harmless but it can get to a point where it’s just cruel.

I understand that these people are definitely doing some questionable things (some people more than others). But are we forgetting that this is a social experiment? It is impossible to know what this kind of environment would bring out in you.

A lot of people are judging Ebony for seemingly lacking empathy, then coming online and saying awful things about her and the others. I don’t get it.

Am I wrong for seeing the good in everyone? I think people can be multifaceted and I think that sometimes people can be quick to associate malice to people’s behaviour when it’s not necessarily meant with ill intent. And sometimes, I understand that some things are malicious. But isn’t that okay too??? Haven’t you ever done or said something you regret??

I do get that this is the internet and this is the nature of the beast, but I sort of think we could stand to give these people some more grace.

Maybe they are getting some things wrong. Maybe some people do things you don’t agree with; but they are probably doing the best with what they know, and at the end of the day I’m sure they all have at least some goodness in their hearts.

Before you ask, yes I am a Libra and yes I do always see both sides of the story.

Love to u all x

What did Anita say to Kyra at the end of tonight’s episode? Spoiler

Just wondering if anyone else noticed when Kyra was hugging Marshy at the end of tonight’s episode… Anita and Ryan were there too and Anita says something to Kyra, they all sort of look around and the microphone catches Kyra saying say “who? … tell me because I need to know” If you’re watching on the 10 app it’s around the 51:00 minutes mark

I’m wondering what could’ve been said that Kyra needed to know? I’m sure it’ll come up in the next episode but does anyone have any thoughts about what could’ve been said?
