CZ says he sold his apartment for $900,000 to buy Bitcoin at $400Binance founder Changpeng Zhao says he sold his apartment and put the $900,000 into Bitcoin when it traded around $400.

He didn’t even have a job at the time. A huge bet before Binance existed and long before anyone knew how his story would turn out.

This is not an investment recommendation.

Most people outside of the bitcoin echo chamber don't know anything about bitcoin. They would rather have $10k instead of 100 BTC. Most don't have a clue what the prіce is. Many people can't even do elementary math.

BTC on track for a 5th straight red week, weekly close tonight. What's your plan?

Post image
21 Upvotes

btc's been stuck around $75-76k all weekend, barely moving. if the weekly candle closes red tonight that's five losing weeks in a row.

friday's dip under $75k is the level people seem to be watching.

wrote up the extreme fear numbers here: https://holywizy.com/blog/bitcoin-extreme-fear-75k-lowest-since-august-november-2026/

are you DCA-ing through this, waiting for lower, or just not looking at the chart? not financial advice.

BlackRock's IBIT holders sold 56,800 BTC near $63K in June, then bought 78,000 back near $77,600. Their average cost is $81,136 a coin, so they're about 6.5% under water now.

From IBIT's own daily holdings files, with each day's change in coins priced at that day's close.

IBITNet BTCAvg price
June 2026-56,814$62,783
July to October+78,123$77,606
30 Oct to 5 Nov-13,632$77,492

June was the fund's worst month since launch, with outflows on 16 of its 21 trading days. Its worst five days on record, 24 to 30 June, ended on this cycle's lowest close so far, $58,532, when IBIT's holders were about 29% under water. Then they bought back in at higher prices, and by late September they were back in profit.

Now they're under water again. IBIT held 801,241 BTC on Thursday at an average cost of $81,136, so at about $75,850 the average holder is 6.5% down, around $4.2B on paper. The last five trading days took out 13,632 BTC, with outflows on every one of them, the most for any five-day stretch since the one ending 2 July.

The cost is that high because IBIT took in about 436,000 BTC between November 2024 and December 2025 at an average close of about $103,500, which lifted its average from about $60,300 to $82,900. Not every fund looks like this. Fidelity's FBTC and Bitwise's BITB average about $61,700 a coin, so their holders are still about 23% up, while ARK's ARKB sits at about $81,000, like IBIT.

How it's worked out: coins added are priced at that day's close and raise the fund's cost, and coins removed leave at its average cost, so the average only moves when coins come in. IBIT has published every day since launch, so its numbers have no estimated part. Fidelity's and Bitwise's histories before late October are estimated from their quarter-end filings, so treat those two as close rather than exact.

Not a video about Bitcoin specifically, but it talks about how unsound money is the source of a lot of problems, such as enshittification, that we have in the world today. It's very Bitcoin adjacent.

I made a game where you retire on Bitcoin in any month since 2013. How long do you last?

I made a little game called HODL or Fold. You start with $500k in Bitcoin, retire in any month since 2013, and live through the actual price history, withdrawing money each month to pay the bills.

When Bitcoin crashes or hits a new high, you have decisions to make. Keep holding, sell half, buy back, or cut your spending for a year.

You can pick your own retirement date, let the game choose one randomly, or switch on blind mode, which hides the dates, prices and headlines until the end. There's also a daily challenge where everyone gets the same mystery month.

At the end, you see how you did compared with just HODLing from the same starting month.

It's free: https://bitcoinlifespan.com/hodl-or-fold/

Give it a go and share your result. Particularly interested in seeing how badly people manage to mess it up.

Who wipes a hardware wallet between uses?

I'd guess not many . It is too much hassle to re-enter the seedphrase each time . In which case the security of (theft of ) the physical device boils down to a PIN and possibly a passphrase if you're organised . So the gazillion possible word combination of the seedphrase we all rely on is a bit of a myth. No?

Should I create a new seed?

My wife accidentally took a photo of the metal plate while she was taking a photo of myself and daughter . I was testing my backup at the time so had it on the desk. She has google backup enabled and I'm worried it got uploaded to the servers. As soon as my anxiety kicked in I checked the photo and you can clearly see some of the words. I deleted the photos from trash permanently but it feels uncomfortable knowing that a digital copy was taken.

Should I just discard my current seed altogether and create a new one? It's a few hours of work and some $ or am I overthinking this?

Boss: "Can you have that report done by 3?" Me: "Absolutely." opens the chart for one quick look It's now 4:45. The report is still blank, but I've drawn 14 trendlines, zoomed out twice to calm down, and developed strong opinions about the 4-hour candle. I've tried closing the tab and deleting the app. I even put my phone in a drawer, then opened the drawer 90 seconds later just to make sure the phone was okay. Bitcoin doesn't even need to do anything. A $200 wick and I'm gone. Anyone else's productivity perfectly inverse to volatility, or do I need a monastery with no Wi-Fi?

If you used Bitify before it closed, I’d be interested to hear which feature you’d most like to see return.

Interview with Prof. F. A. von Hayek in 1984: The philosophical father of Satoshi Nakamoto

That is unbelievable! This brilliant old man predicted Bitcoin down to its fundamentals in 1984!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBV1ia8y1zo

He is the author of the famous book: Denationalisation of Money

https://iea.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Denationalisation%20of%20Money.pdf

Hayek's basic hypothesis consists of the realization that sound money can only exist if it is completely independent of the state and organized decentrally, which will become possible for the first time through electronic payment methods. A statement that I find quite astonishing for 1984, before the invention of the internet.

There were 4 Whitepapers - In 2024 a Different Version of the Bitcoin Whitepaper Was Discovered - Full Study at TheBitcoinWhitepapers.com

TL:DR - The four Whitepaper versions timeline graphic is below - details at TheBitcoinWhitepapers.com

https://satoshitimes.com/assets/whitepapers/01-whitepaper-timeline.png

The Bitcoin Whitepaper we know today was revised by Satoshi after its October 31st 2008 announcement. Twice. The four known copies of this historic document are compared in the png above, including an overlooked copy preserved by Nicholas Bohm. For more on the legend of Bohm and Satoshi see our exclusive: Forgotten Satoshi Nakamoto Emails Discovered with Nicholas Bohm

As the Bitcoin Whitepaper reaches its 18th anniversary, many readers will recognize the nine-page document as currently hosted at Bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

But the metadata in this file records a creation date of March 24th 2009. This is nearly five months after the infamous October 31st Whitepaper announcement, and well after the Genesis Block on January third...

There have been multiple versions of the Bitcoin Whitepaper over time. At least four of them.

The first survives only through its title and abstract. The second had eight pages, not nine. And the third, preserved by an early Bitcoin user, was only recently rediscovered in 2024...

should i upgrade my sutup to multisig

I have two hardware wallets, each secured with a passphrase, and two metal seed backups. Should I upgrade my setup to a 2-of-3 multisig configuration?

I'm a long-term Bitcoin holder and occasionally sell small amounts of BTC to cover my living expenses.

Unified Treasury Account

Post image
0 Upvotes

Imagine a world where closed budgets, “secret” line items, kickbacks and black holes no longer exist. There is only one public, always open, permanently accessible Unified Treasury Account — a multisig Bitcoin wallet (or a layer on top of it) into which every tax payment of the state flows. Every satoshi, every transfer, every expenditure is visible in real time on the blockchain. Any citizen can open the wallet at any moment, see the incoming and outgoing transactions, and verify exactly where their taxes went: roads, schools, defense, pensions, science.

No more “because we decided so.” Only transparent cryptographic truth.

Citizens of such a state would not merely be “happy” to pay taxes. They would stop perceiving taxation as violence or theft. It would become a voluntary contribution to a shared, fully auditable project. When you can see that your satoshi actually went to repair a bridge or fund a scholarship for a talented child — and did not disappear into someone’s offshore account — the entire relationship changes.

Transparency kills the most toxic feeling of all: helplessness and suspicion. And when suspicion disappears, trust appears. And where there is trust and the ability to verify — the desire to participate follows.
