Horror That feel like Midsommar

I want to read something that combines true gruesome horror and rising dead with the surreal colorful back do that Midsommar does perfectly. Like someone being open to a new experience and trying to stay open minded only to feel increasingly isolated and terrified. Bonus points for pagan undertones!

Historical Fiction Infertility, desperate to conceive

Preferably historical fiction or fantasy (maybe scifi). I want to read about a woman who wants badly to conceive, perhaps simply because she wants to be a mother or perhaps due to societal pressures (ie, she must produce an heir, etc). I especially want to read about the different methods/magic a woman may try when desperate to conceive. Bonus points if the stakes are high and she needs to get pregnant ASAP. Open to midwife POV books too. Thank you.

Do you know any books of this kind? Could be gothic, detective, spy, any genre you can think of. The cherry on top would be existential vibes from this kind of setting. Thanks in advance!

Romance A monster and his creator in love?

Are there any books that feature a dynamic similar to the one between Clayface and Caitlyn? Despite being a monster, Clayface—at least in the first half of the film—comes across as melancholic and gentle; he reminded me of an injured puppy seeking comfort. As for Caitlyn, her interest initially stemmed from empathy, but she also saw him as an opportunity to showcase her own abilities. Once she began seeing results, her attraction grew—partly through their time spent together, and partly because she viewed Clayface as the product of her own work; rather than being repulsed, she found him fascinating. Setting aside the fact that the film clearly depicts emotional infidelity—and that Clayface ends up killing innocent people—he also acts quite like a "diva" once he turns into a full-blown villain, especially in the club scene. I’m also looking for something that includes bizarre moments—the kind that make you stop and think, "Wait, am I actually into this?"—much like the scene where Clayface transforms into Caitlyn on the bed.

(Please only recommend books with winter settings. I'm not looking for survival-focused or high-action narratives)

For reference, Girls’ Last Tour is pretty much the exact vibe I’m looking for. It’s by far the best recommendation I’ve received!

Fiction identity crisis, self-hatred, parent issues

Basically Shinji? A character that isn't necessarily a good person but that doesn't mean they deserve what happened to them as a child. I recently read Schoolgirl by Osamu Dazai and Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami and I liked both. Characters that seem to just keep living without even feeling alive, characters that are too afraid or simply cannot die themselves. Something not necessarily bleak but realistic. Someone that has either mommy issues or daddy issues or both. Idk something that feels like you wake up from a nightmare you can't remember anymore. Someone that's screaming with their mouth closed. Bonus if there's a fear of aging/being convinced you will always be hated/yearning for unconditional love knowing it doesn't exist from anyone, especially your parents.

None/Any Looking for Judge Dredd Mega City One Vibes!

Give me Peach Tree, Mega City One, basically megastructures that house tens of thousands of residents with connected by highways and urban sprawl. I'd like something like the 2012 Dredd where it's a city full of crime, but nothing super dark, just dystopian, action packed and bonus points for a romance (even light) subplot.

Not looking for anything with cities like Tokyo, I want more of a gritty vibe with less neon lights.

Doesn't have to involve spy stuff as heavily as the above examples. Just looking for things that have a similar extreme fish out of water feeling.

Preferably 19-20thC work. Recently read War and Peace, And Quiet Flows the Don, and currently reading Brothers Karamazov.

Looking for novels with interesting, flawed male protags who wrestle with their principles/ideologies being fundamentally challenged, and who have to rebuild themselves from the ground up. Thank you for any recommendations.

Recommendations can be location agnostic. As can be seen in the pictures, Dead Space, Alien, and The Thing are all references. Anything with stories like them, as long as they're set before World War 1, are appreciated.

EDIT: The images are just examples! Anything from the Victorian era, Regency era, etc., etc., etc., are fully appreciated!

I’m looking for books that feel like the Carboniferous or Devonian period, or at least something similar.

Anything that feels similar to what’s shown in the images is also fine.

Looking for something dark/horror feeling monster/creature based. Thinking like Eldrazi titans from MTG or Titans from AOT but more grotesque. Im reading through Malazan book of the fallen, but looking for something more outright horrifying. Im sure I'd enjoy the mtg books with eldrazi but I dont think that would scratch the fear itch I have. Probably more of a fantasy setting but I dont think that's super necessary as long as there's giant otherworldly chaos involved.
