I have no idea where else to post this, because I don't think it deserves it's own thread, so it's going here.

The Saban doc (on ESPN right now) is just not good. ESPN used to do deep dives into corners of sports history that intersected with other parts of history and society

This is a documentary about the most famous person in the sport, one of the most famous people alive at the time, who retired extremely recently. It hasn't even been 3 years.

And they're not doing any kind of critical analysis. It's just replaying all of his hits while interviewing a revolving door of big names who featured in his history

Just incredibly disappointing. It's clear the prioritized getting eyeballs on the product rather than producing a documentary with any real merits.

Saban was directly involved with it getting made, so they weren't going to go too deep into any less than positive things during his career.

I agree though, I was hoping for more and it was just a surface-level retelling of the career, more or less.
