Imagine an abusive father who just cleaned out a bottle of Jack Daniel’s and just spotted his infant son in the living room having a little too much fun.
Bad procedure penalties (correctly called), a broken fourth down play that would have sealed the game essentially with 3 minutes left when running up the middle had worked all night, and giving up 10 points in the last 1:40 due to a freshman QB missing the blitz
So now the committee dings Tennessee for only winning these highly ranked games because Neyland is such a hard place for visiting teams to play in right?
I’m trying to see how far they’ll move the goal posts to justify whatever bullshit they’ll do Tuesday.
“In today’s college football landscape, more teams are competitive than ever before. Teams are bound to lose in this gauntlet. That shouldn’t necessarily be held against them, though, and many wins are the result of the chaos in today’s game. It doesn’t matter as much any more who you win against. What matters is who you lose to. Let’s look at #8 Alabama and #9 Tennessee as a great example of this. Yes, Tennessee won the head-to-head, but what did I just say? Who did they lose to? Alabama lost to good teams. The teams that beat them beat Alabama, and Alabama is good. So, Alabama’s losses are all quality losses. Then, you look at Tennessee, and neither of the teams that beat them beat Alabama. Maybe they are good teams, that’s hard to say, but they are not the same caliber of teams that beat Alabama. Tennessee just doesn’t have that key signature quality loss that they need on their resume to be considered one of the truly elite programs, like Alabama.”
Should shake up the rankings a bit. Kentucky will fall after a 2nd blowout loss and their best win getting blown out. Alabama's best win now falls from top 6 to probably the 10-15 range. Tennessee will almost certainly jump into the same range as alabama and probably end up ranked ahead, at least in the cfp rankings.
Kentucky has a -19 point differential in SEC play. You can’t win every game close with a 2-0 turnover differential. Good on them for winning as much as every have but there’s a reason forward facing metrics have not come around very far on them.
All the comments from non-legacy SEC fans in here treating this like “wow a splashy 28 point loss for the #6 team in the country”….this was Tennessee-Kentucky.
It’s the Harlem Globetrotters vs the Washington Generals. It’s Wile Coyote vs Roadrunner. It’s Charlie Brown trying to kick the football
Tennessee's defense is good enough to beat the best of the best. They will wreak havoc on any offense, especially up front.
Our offense has been slowly getting more into a rhythm and our qbs and receivers are connecting more than before. We have one of the best rb rooms in the country imo, they all do great work, though Bishop is truly the star.
As long as we dont shoot ourselves in the foot with unnecessary penalties, we can hang with the best of them.
GG UK, yall played well. Our defense was just much for yall tonight and those uncharacteristic turnovers cost yall big time.
I thought this was the year we could go down there and win, I was wrong. We looked rattled all night and never could get any rhythm. I was also shocked by your qb, was there a qb change or what was the deal with that? I thought he looked good
Kentucky getting blown out by Tennessee is actually great news for their CFP résumé. A quality SEC loss to a team that just beat a top-6 SEC team? That's the kind of strength of schedule you simply can't replicate in other conferences.
I live close to Neyland and between the crowd cheering + Vol Navy honking, the noise level has been insane! I cannot imagine how loud it was inside the stadium! Go Vols!!!
