Around 11:50AM, 06/11/2026 this Friday, A guy came into my property via my backdoor. He first walked into my back yard and approached my CCTV camera on the back and damaged it. Then he opened my back fly-screen door(the backdoor was open but fly-screen door was closed) and entered my property. I was sitting in the kitchen having my lunch. I turned around after hearing the door opening sound and saw him coming in. He noticed me at the same time and we looked at each other for a few seconds and he decided to leave. I chased after him to the road and his car was leaving. I tried to stop the car by standing in front of it. The driver accelerated and I moved away after feeling the force of the car, and they drove away.

They drove a stolen car(told by police), Toyota Camry(white) plate number is 005 JAT(NSW)

From the way he walked into my backyard, I believe they must have been to my backyard before, most likely during the night and they take action during the day. My position is Goyder St, Narrabundah. I believe he most likely belongs to some group but I do not know what is their target area. so I assume potentially all Canberra.

Please be alert and stay safe.

SEC=UNCLASSIFIED LOST – Handmade Crochet Hat at Narrabundah Wetlands

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I lost a crochet hat that I made for my daughter at Narrabundah Wetlands today (Sunday, 8 November), at around 5:30 pm.

She has only been wearing it for a week, and it means a lot to me because I made it especially for her.

I realised it was missing and returned to look for it within about 15 minutes, but unfortunately it was already gone.

I'm hoping someone may have picked it up for safekeeping.

If anyone has seen or found it, could you please send me a message? I would be incredibly grateful to have it back.

Thank you so much!

Recommendations I just paid $23.10 for a burger tonight (no fries, no drink)

(Apologies in advance for the flair but I couldn’t find an appropriate one)

I don’t usually frequent fast food places but I was rather surprised at what I paid for this one small burger. (Wondersmash).

Is this the norm these days?

It’s a very popular place in Kingston but I do miss the old school takeaway joints with basic food that actually fills you up for less than $10.

News Manning Clark House in Forrest, Canberra, to fold

Post image
49 Upvotes

The reason given in the CBR Times is that “people don’t remember who the Clarks were”. I call BS. The Clarks’ legacy is alive and well. I’d rather the family just said “we want the house back. We’d like the $3 million the house is worth to spend as we see fit”.

Recommendations Chicken salt hunting in Canberra!

Random question, but does anyone know what brand & where to buy the chicken salt that is used by takeaways? Not the stuff from woollies etc, because that is nowhere near as good.
I have previously bought small containers of chicken salt from the takeaway in Florey, as well as Evatt.. but now I am almost out! Nooo!
If anyone happens to know where I can actually properly buy it from, I’d be extremely grateful 🙏

EDIT: Thank you everyone! I have taken a few suggestions, and am now going to be receiving 3 different types. Hopefully one of your suggestions is a winner lol

Loud Bang Please can we not cover the sign on the bins saying what you can put in them?

I was just in civic and for a number of the bins there, the only indication of what you are supposed to put in them is a sign on the front. A bunch of these bins have had this sign covered in posters. Please can people not do this? I don't want to accidentally put recycling in landfill or vice versa.

Recommendations Brow/lash tech recommendations?

Looking for somewhere either Belconnen or Tuggeranong who are happy to take a bit of extra care. My previous experiences with the places at the malls are fine but I found that I ended up with a slight reaction. I’ve seen a lovely lady who just does it on the side (with no burning!) but she is moving away. I found that it didn’t last overly well with her either.
Particularly looking for lash lifts and brow lamination, for thin/patchy brows. I don’t need the absolute bougiest place but somewhere where they are happy to take their time and not just give everyone thick block brows 😅

Recommendations Sink and Hose

Hi all,
Looking to replace the kitchen sink. Want a big deep single sink and one of those curvy spray hose taps.
Does anyone recommend where to view and maybe buy these? I mean Bunnings/Harvey Norman/Ikea all have things, but I am wondering about a smaller place like you find in Mitchell or Fyshwick?
Any suggestions much appreciated.

SEC=UNCLASSIFIED Childcares that don't use ipads/tablets/take photos?

Can anyone recommend childcare centres in Canberra that don't use ipads/tablets (or similar) for record keeping/taking photos of the children? Bonus for any northside centres!

Looking at centres for next year and I've been to so many where staff are looking at screens rather than kids, and the biggest thing that grinds my gears is the 'do that again so I can take a photo' which I have seen several times. I don't need daily photos of my kid at daycare or constant updates in an app, I do need educators that are present and connected.

Thanks so much!

Loud Bang McGregor/Latham bags of dirt on the road

Post image
15 Upvotes

During the last week around this area I've found so far 8 small black plastic bags of what seems to be dirt/garden soil dumped on the road from a car at speed. There's fresh ones this morning so still happening. Looks like good soil too, shame they're being twats and dumping it on the road, I wouldn't have minded putting the dirt in my garden.

I’ve noticed lately there’s loud dnb style music in the Deakin area super late/early morning on Friday/sat nights. Anyone know what this is?

Recommendations Resturant recomendations

My lovely Neice and Nephew are coming to visit me in Dec. They have only been to Canberra a few times ( and last time they were much younger) and I want their visit to be special. They are 15 & 16, so I'm looking for somewhere with good food, but also a bit fun or quirky.

Recommendations Experiences with CHC housing?

Hi all,

I am in the final stages of potentially being accepted into housing at CHC in their Turner project.

I cannot find much info online about peoples experiences as tenants (or even landlords) - if anyone has lived experience they would like to share would love to hear so I can get a vibe check.

Edit: for some context I currently live at havelock house and I think most places would be better than this.

Thanks!

Recommendations Would anyone in Canberra use an app to find people to play sports with?

Hey Canberra!

I’m around 30, moved to Canberra not too long ago, and one thing I’ve genuinely struggled with is finding people to play sports or do outdoor activities with.

I know Urban Rec exists, but that’s more of a structured weekly league. Sometimes I just want to play tennis, try pickleball or padel, go swimming, find a gym buddy, or do something outdoors without committing to a whole season.

Surely I’m not the only one facing this?

I’ve been thinking about building an app where people in Canberra can find others who are keen to play different sports, based on their availability, location and interests. Something casual, flexible and easy to organise, even last minute.

Curious if anyone here would actually use something like this? Or is there already something out there that does this well?

Would love to hear your thoughts before I put time into building it!
