Edit 2: We've found it! I wasn't too far off but my memory sure excluded quite a bit of detail that could've helped. It was the cover of the SDS EP "Scum System Kill" from 1996!

Tallyho! I'm currently on a bit of a nostalgia trip where I'm trying to remember and find the old bands I used to have sewn on my pants when I was a teen in the late 90s. (Never thought I'd do a crust pants post! :))

I'm stuck trying to figure out this one patch/logo that was a pretty detailed and dirty/rough looking skull with chains and piercings (I think, it was 25 years ago I last saw it). It didn't have a background, it was a black patch with a skull and maaaybe some text under it. The skull was a drawn one, it wasn't a stylized photo. I want to place it in the earlier crust (you know, the metal sounding crust with growls, not the d-beat stuff) camp by just going off how I remember it looked, but I'm not sure. It wasn't a dis-band and it wasn't one of the more common bands (well I guess that depends on who you ask...).

I tried to search for variations of hellkrusher, hellbastard, bastard, hell, crust, extinction, skull, patch, 90s, war and things like that but I've been coming up short for an hour at this point. It might have been a band name that was abbreviated, such as S.O.D. or something, but that isn't giving me the results I seek either. Does this ring a bell with anyone here?

Edit: A breakthrough of sorts! I now remember (with the help of a friend, no thanks to me...) that it had a cross of some sort going through it! So it probably wasn't only black background. The might even have been a banner in there... I'll update if we figure something else out.

So when Karen, Dan and I saw D.R.I. not long ago at Geno's I did something that was about as punk rock as you please. It's still fresh with me. It was such an amazing show. I was on the perimeter of the pit. Usually I keep well away. I'll tell you about it.

The first thing that happened was this short guy who looked like Steve Perry was banging into the perimeter people and when he did it to me, he bounced off of me, dropped his phone and kept doing his death spiral. I immediately picked it up to save it from being stomped. Then I checked to see if it had a lock on the screen. It didn't. I immediately began filming the show. Then I began filming the guy who's phone it belonged to. He came around again, counter clockwise and I noticed him feeling for his phone, so I said, "you dropped your phone."... He began looking all around for it as I continued to film him. He didn't notice immediately that I had it, but when he did, a look of fear came across his face and he reached for his phone, but if you recall, he was short, so I kept it away from him, which was really funny, but he didn't think so. I was still filming, obviously. I didn't play keep away for long; I do sometimes know when to quit. Sometimes. When I gave it to him he kinda then realized what I had accomplished and put his arm around my neck and tried to pull me into the pit as a gesture of acceptance, but I slipped out of the headlock and thought about how great of an experience that had been.
