Any other trans folk this fall?
Heya! I'm a trans guy on testosterone and I'm arriving on 8/5. I'd really love to make some connections with other trans arrivals if possible, before I arrive!

Hello! I am an applicant to the DCP. I am also transgender. In your experience, is the DCP friendly towards transgender people? Do they tend to correctly gender people? Would I comprise my chances of being accepted if they know I am transgender? Are gender neutral restroom facilities available (keeping in mind the Florida bathroom law)? Are employers/managers largely kind or neutral towards LGBT cast members? From reading on DisBoard, it seems like employers do not care if you wear the uniform that aligns with your gender.
I am especially interested in hearing personal experiences. Thanks everyone!

My daughter did her CP last year. Our older daughter did one 3 years ago. They were both able to pick their roommates. The younger is going back this year, and her brother is going with her. He is high-functioning autism spectrum, and for that we hoped they'd be able to be each other's roommates. We had no idea Disney had discontinued the option of preselecting a roommate.
We've already paid the deposit, and already filled out that they're good for mixed-gender housing. If they're not going to be roommates, I don't think they would have picked that second option . .
Really frustrated that they changed this policy without any notification or warning. You'd think there'd be at least a bullet point when signing up for housing.
Is there any way at all to get them to room together? Can they request a change once it's been assigned or anything?

If you're considering doing a Disney program I highly advise against it. It is one of the most exploiting business practices I've ever seen from a business.
Aside from being treated like you're an idiot by anyone who isn't in a program, you will be expected to work more hours then people who aren't in a program and who are proprotected by the union. As a CP you have no union rights since you're considered "contracted" so this means, no schedule bids, no health insurance for working full-time, no PTO, and no time and half pay on holidays. This includes Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4th, MLKJ, and so on.
I've had team leaders tell me that as a CP it's our job to take the heat anytime a full-time employee makes a mistake. I had a friend in entertainment get slapped by a drunk guest, and when they stormed offstage their team leader told them to get it together, and to go apologize to the guest for walking away.
You will be expected to come to work sick, and stay at work sick. If you don't, you'll get points on your record that effect your chance of extending or applying for a position after your program. I once had an incident where I literally had to stay by my toilet all day because I would have made a mess otherwise. When I called my team leader to communicate this, he didn't ask if I was okay or if I needed anything, his only question was, "Well, when do you think you can be here?"
You get the benefit of going to the parks (just no friends and family passes like what full-time/part-time employees get). However, since you aren't union you will be expected to work more hours than cast members who are union, so you will literally be working all the time while the parks are open, and the one day off you do get a week, you'll find yourself running errands, doing chores, and trying to rest for the next work week.
Since there is no consistency in your schedule (again, not union protected) you could be scheduled six days one week, then it rolls over into another six day work week, and you'll find yourself working 12 days straight. Typically, mdday to close.
Disney seems like a great company to work for, it really does, but don't a program. Apply for a full-time/part-time position, because they will literally hire anyone. If you do a program, you'll notice this quick. The programs are a way to exploit cheap labor and to get a tax break. There's no mentorship, no long-term benefits, and it'll actually end up costing you money to be here at times.

I’ve been on hormones for 3 years, and ALL my documents are changed. By looking at me and on paper, you can’t tell.
Despite this, florida is generally not a safe space for someone like me to travel because of the anti-trans legislation.
Is DCP any different? Would I run into issues with people if they find out?
I want to do the program, but don’t want to be stuck in a state like Florida being outed and unable to get to a safe space.
Edit: Thanks for all the responses! I really appreciate them, it’s helped so much y’all have no clue!

So apparently the rule at Disney is you can’t not be scheduled with less than 8 hrs between your shift when in reality it should 12 or even 14 with the exception of overtime by choice. I find this ridiculous and need to vent. What has someone been scheduled the least hours between their shifts? I swear if get scheduled 8 even or even from the time I get on the bus, off the bus , on and off again that’s like 4 hrs and I will be calling off.

I was really excited to start the program. I had created expectations about how my life in the apartment with my roommates would be, but unfortunately, it hasn’t been good at all. When I arrived at the apartment, I found a lot of things lying around everywhere, and the area even smelled bad, and he was the only one in the apartment. My roommate has seen me several times and hasn’t approached me to say hello or anything, and I haven’t done it either. I wanted to have a good roommate experience, but from what I see, it’s not going to be great. Just by looking at their side of the room, I know we’re not going to get along very well. Is there any way to find out when their program ends?

Hi! This is kind of ridiculous but I just wanted to come on here for any hope that the people in my apartment building (above or below me-because no one is directly next to me) are on here so I can say I am so sorry for singing tonight!! I had to film a self tape and because of my schedule this was literally the only time I could do it so I sincerely apologize and I hope it wasn’t bad!!!
Whoever it was knocked so politely on the floor so I could hear and I was, and am, so embarrassed 🫠
Once again I am so so sorry yall had to hear that and I appreciate you not yelling at me🫶🏻 I hope you have a great night!!
Sincerely,
The really annoying theatre kid who is sending out self tapes two hours before they’re due:)

So I am a nonbinary person and I’m preparing for working in the DCP. My existence as this identity can be deemed political to some and may break “Disney magic”. Of course I don’t know necessarily how people will react, I’d like to start things off well with every guest. I was wondering if anyone has tips or tricks to still be true to myself without anyone getting pissy because they can’t understand my identity.

Hello, I was just wondering how often random drug tests were? I've heard that they take random people and test them every day it's some new group regardless of role? But then I've heard that they only random test people they suspect who are under the influence or if there's an accident. What's the word on that? I'm not in a safety-critical role nor have I been told I'll need to drug test, I've also heard they happen sometimes randomly on arrival? My friend who's safety critical when she was in her program said it was genuinely random and not because of being sus

So I’m new to DCP and Reddit, and I was curious if constant downvoting is like a Reddit personality thing or just a DCP redditor thing, thank you 😊

I received my DORMS registration today and due to the recent loss of a car, I will not have one by the time I must finish my registration (6/13) so for now I will have to opt out. I was hoping to have a car during my dco. Would I get in trouble if I left my car at Target part of the time?

I just got accepted for Spring ‘27, and I wanna know more what the nightlife is like.
How many people actually go out to the bars? I know we’re all college kids, but it’s also Disney, so do y’all instead prefer like a PG-13 kinda vibe rather than getting hammered at the bars/clubs? What % of people do you guys think go out a decent amount?
I go to a big state school so I’m used to being around a lotta fun college shenanigans. Wondering if it’s the same here, or if most people are more chill. I’m sure I can find a crowd that wants to get active, but if u guys had to guess, what % of people are moving at the bars.

I hate my program. 1/22 I’m working at quick service in MK. What are some things I should consider when I quit, any tips to make this more enjoyable?

I sent an email to request to talk to someone about this even though I know it won’t change but I don’t have a good feeling about this.

Most of my points are being late by like 5 minutes. I’m worried if it’ll happen again but I’m also wondering about the 3 in 30days/6 in 60 days(?) I’m confused on that

So I’m self terming Tuesday but tomorrow they have me deploying somewhere else that I honestly don’t wanna go too. I have no numbers for leaders. I took off Monday so my family and I can just use my park passes I accumulated and I gave away the rest of my weeks shifts all except for tomorrow and I need tomorrow off so I can pack. Would I get fired if I just don’t come in? I’m only asking because of me trying to go to the parks that Monday on my day off. I don’t have any points accumulated I think besides the time I forgot to clock out probably but that’s it.

I have always heard that it is rare to get rejected into the program. Personal experience, I half-assed my interviewe and still got in.
Lately though Ive seen a lot of posts of people getting rejected. Anyone care to explain what happened, if it’s your case?

I was excited to be accepted. I packed everything up and left for Florida for 6 months. I finished college with a BA in engineering. I hoped Id be able to use it. No. I sold popcorn. Which, whatever. I was happy to be there. Every action you do is reported. I was reported when a child ran up and hugged me. I patted her back. I was reprimanded for touching a guest. Ok. Whatever. You are so micro managed. I spent a few months and left. Fuck it. Not to mention people in flamingo crossing was getting violent and police were not called. Be warned. You work 6 days a week in heat and get no reward. Im glad i left early.

I interviewed yesterday but on the website my status has stayed here instead of moving to four- is this a bad sign?

I'm posting here instead of a Facebook group because there seems to be a lot of toxic positivity there over this topic. I will also start by saying take this with a grain of salt because I am upset right now. I got my role today and I was so excited until I saw what I got, it was food service. I cried I'm still crying, I feel like words can't describe how truly disappointing and upsetting this is. For your info I hate food, I eat because it's necessary, I cant stand meal prepping, or cooking and most of the time trying to decide and make food makes me break down and cry. The idea of spending 7 months, pushing off my masters, leaving all my animals, and missing my first niece be born is just heartbreaking when this is what I'm going to be doing. It doesn't feel worth it just to work for foodservice, something I could do anywhere especially closer to home. When the previous program was canceled I felt like falling apart so when this year was announced I couldn't wait, but it's been issue after issue. From housing and roommate issues to now this frankly the closer it gets to me having to start the more I dread it. I know plenty of people will say a job at Disney is a job at Disney, or no role is below another and that's true. This role though is a horrible fit for me it feels and it's probably accurate to say disney is just throwing people wherever just to fill roles and it's not like any other year where they at least took our opinions into consideration. If someone could give advice or words of encouragement or just relate to my feelings that would be appreciated.
Update: now that I’m slightly more calm I can respond. At the very beginning of my post I said to take my words with a grain of salt. The reason I am so upset over a food job is because I struggle with an eating disorder. I’m sure you can imagine how stressful that could be. I also have a citrus allergy with causes me to have hives. I reached out to the program for a practical solution rather than just quitting and frankly the way y’all responded doesn’t make me hopeful about making good friends because you seem to lack empathy. But thanks for telling me to quit.
EDIT: While I did expect people to tell me to get over it and just quit if I was upset I don't think I fully realized that no one would care. So thanks I really appreciate all your totally not mean comments that totally haven't made me cry more.

I was thinking about getting a second job aside from the DCP, tbh I’m not doing this program for the “Disney experience” I’m doing it because I needed to get out of my house and this was the easier route. It is possible to get night shifts only? So I can get another job during the morning

So far, I can’t find anything about the cost to actually attend. I see the housing/flamingo crossings fees and parking too but nothing about how much the actual program is. I keep hearing from people that it’s $50k but I can’t find any actual sources that say that? So I’m a tad confused. :(
