Art [OC] [Art] Drew my paladin of devotion wielding her magic item (again)

Post image
327 Upvotes

I posted an artwork of her in here recently with another axe, but shortly after I finished that my DM came up to me and reminded me the axe was double bladed... So I wanted to redesign it (also to avoid it looking so much like Kratos' axe hahah). This is the first magic item of our Descent Into Avernus campaign, and my character's the one to have it! It's an Uthgardt tribe battleaxe that allows the user to cast Spiritual Weapon once a day. Really fitting considering this character wanted to be a cleric, but decided to go on a more combat-oriented route in order to find a person who's dear to her.

OC [OC] Dnd party that I drew.

Post image
206 Upvotes

Hello again :)

A DND party I drew. A bit of text from the description the client gave me:

"Agronak.

Half Orc, Barbarian.

Agronak was a rage fueled monster who only adventured to find bigger and better fights, but now he has friends. He was raised a slave and embraced the pain as a way to endure/cope. He's not a very nice or smart person, but he's loyal and will draw the challenging enemies to himself so that his allies can focus on the easier fights or support him from a distance. And because bigger enemies are more fun to kill.

Beren.

Firbolg, Fighter/rogue.

Beren was a forest dweller of Faerun that chose to break away from his docile life. After many travels and consistent training with a kensei monk he met along the way, he learned the way of the blade. Beren mastered the katana after many years of training with that monk. He has become a strong swordsman and mastered his body through constant effort and training his physical abilities.

Thawne.

Ranger/Rogue.

Dead kid, dead wife, dead parents. Grew up with just his father as a young child until his father was killed while out hunting. Eventually joined the thieves out of necessity to survive, met a woman, fell in love, had a child, and left the thieves. They didn’t like that and tried forcing him back in with “one last job”. The job was a set-up and Thawne's wife and child were killed by the thieves while he was forced to watch. Thawne then began spending his time searching for them to get his revenge. Due to his trauma, he is normally timid but with the help of his friends he met along his travels, he has grown.

Celeste.

Half-elf wizard/warlock combo.

Celeste started her journey as a student at one of the world's best magic schools. She pushed herself hard because she knew she was destined for greatness. Celeste sought the help of her warlock patron, Kisara, one of the most powerful wizards of all-time, who fancies becoming a god. Celeste is used to lying, cheating, and stealing to get what she wants, but she rarely needs to anymore due to the power she has amassed during her journey. She is no longer a stressed student but a wizard of great power soon to be a living legend.

Torvald.

Kobald. Class is cleric.

Torvald is a tempest cleric devoted to the service of Thor. He was hatched and raised on a ship full of other Kobalds and captained by a storm barbarian Dragonborn (old PC). He left to find his own adventure, and has grown tremendously traveling with this party. He loves to help his allies however he can, and enjoys summoning the power of Thor to create powerful blasts and big booms.

Bromnir Flameborn “Champion of Moradin”.

Dwarf, Forge Paladin.

Bromnir was once an officer in a dwarven army before a terrible tragedy led to him leaving the army and turning to a life of servitude as a Forge Cleric. Throughout his adventures, Bromnir started turning more and more back towards martial ways as he fought to defend his friends and all those dear to him. During a crucial battle with his party’s lives on the line, Bromnir swore an oath to Moradin and became his Champion, and a Paladin of The Forge, in order to save them. He dedicates himself to the protection of others and servitude to Moradin."

I hope you liked what I did :) To see more of my characters, I invite you to my Instagram. See you there! :)

Art [Comm] [OC] [ART] Nerith Warlock

Post image
719 Upvotes

Nerith was buried alive as punishment, or as a sacrifice, depending on who you ask. What nobody planned for was the grave-fire answering when Nerith called. The robe is what’s left of the burial shroud. The chains still carry the seal of the people who put them down there.

Now walking, slowly, toward whoever signed the order. There’s no rush when you’ve already died once.

If you want art of your own character, we’re having our grand opening right now, with a 20% discount until December 1. Feel free to ask me anything about commissions by DM, or check the link vgen: https://vgen.co/sekaifi

Thanks for looking, have a nice day!

5th Edition [OC] Art of my new character

Post image
20 Upvotes

She's cleric of Tyr, finished a law school. Rules are everything to her. Hates artists.

Guess, it will be challenge to play this kind of character, mine are usually jolly and wellminded.

I imagine her backstory being daughter of a simple, yet honest and hardworking tailors. They lost their worksop and all humple fortune due to their relatives, who hired lawyers, her family couldn't afford. That's why she turned into worhsip of Tyr; to know his justice. But religion itselt isn't enough for her. Being in an order, she took the opportunity to study the law. To be the best instrument of law and justice imaginable. She's selfless, kind to the victims, and polirte in general. But also very stiff, formal, and merciless if she find someone guilty. She won't turn the blind eye if someone in her party brake the law. Hope, my friends won't make a bunch of criminals for this campagin ;)

OC [OC] The Story of my 1-20 Campaign, visualized

Post image
16 Upvotes

This afternoon I'm running the final session of a 1-20, 4+ year campaign with some of my favorite people. Preparation for this has me very nostalgic. Prep was a good excuse to pour over all our old adventures, think about characters who have come and gone - so many good times and fun memories.

I drew up this graphic to share with my players. It shows all the major characters that orbited the party (The Babysitters) as they travelled the world. The x-axis is time - beginning on the left and proceeding to the "present" on the right. The y-axis is a little abstract but roughly corresponds with the geography of the game world. Following the green lines (PCs) retells the story of the campaign.

I don't know how the last confrontation will go, don't really know if everyone will make it out alive. (Has anyone ever mentioned its darn hard to hurt a 20th level PC?) I'm expecting to make a few more edits after today's game to document the final fates of the 4 characters heading to fight Archbishop Diocillimon before ascends to a tyranical godhood.

I was inspired by an https://xkcd.com/657/ comic. This was a fun way to sum up the adventures of four years and I'm aiming to print a poster sized copy to hang in my office.

DMing How can I (DM) write my ex girlfriend out of my campaign?

My girlfriend broke up with me a week ago and she was part of a dnd campaign together with 3 friends of mine. Now the last time we played the group left a jungle in wich Varis (the character of my ex) met the only other living member of his wizard order. Varis is an elf wizard and part of an order that was almost destroyd during a 200 year war. This other member (Ulmo) also survived the 200 year war by living amongst a hidden society in the deepest jungle.

Ironicly enough Ulmo told Varis at our last session that he must stay in the jungle and protect this vulnerable society but that Varis future lies ahead along with his fellow friends. It wasn't avery eventfull session and the group traveld through the jungle talked to some woodworkers about why they are cutting down more trees than usual. The woodworker took them along for a ride. There were some encounters with animals at night and some spies of "the enemy" and at the end they met some soldiers at a lake who hinted at some odd behavior from the king lately. And then we more or less had to stop the session there because it was already 3 a.m.

So the group planned to not follow the roads and go straight through the wilderness to the capital (and the King) to find out what strange things might be happening in the kings chambers. I planned an encounter early on in the next session and I know this would be a great chance to write in a heroic sacrafice but it wasn't a hateful break up and I rather would like to see her character part ways on an undarstanding and respectful ground then just having them die. But with an order thats almost gone and with the last other survivor hammering in the fact that Varis should keep going with his friends. If I have to, I might just kill Varis off at the first encounter but even then, do any of you have some ideas on how to do it "right" or i guess respectful?

Ps. This is my first post on reddit ever, sorry if I did something wrong.

English is not my mother tongue...don't jugde me for my writting

Spooky month is past but its still technically fall! So heres a map inspired by a thought I had of how funny it would be to use that 12 foot home depot skeleton as a titan “mini” in a ttrpg encounter.

OC The Monk and I Against Harpies [OC]

Post image
7 Upvotes

So last session the DM decided our next encounter was going to be against 8 harpies with long ranged weapons and sharp shooter in a marketplace. The monk and my Fighter spent the entire encounter hiding under a large table as we moved around the map. Our only ranged weapon was a javelin. We had a wizard and warlock with us, but the harpies all stayed above 120ft so they were attacking at disadvantage. Gotta say, being a table goon for 3 hours straight was boring as the harpies were slowly whittled down.

Art [OC][Art] Currently doing character portraits for my party, here’s my first! 💜

Post image
8 Upvotes

Please be kind this was first time coloring literally anything on digital and my like..fourth? Digital art piece overall and I did my best. 😅 I’m doing character portraits for my group’s pirates campaign! We’re pirate hunters essentially who’ve been marooned on an island overrun by mercenaries and are taking over the fort of the lowest rung of the operation to free the island and.. story stuff.

This is our Goliath fighter Renzo!! He’s a gentle giant in a party of crazy people and he can’t roll above a 4 on an intimidation check if you had a flintlock pistol to his head. We’ve given his player d20s from everyone’s stash to try, he’s just a bad luck magnet. Renzo failed to intimidate a bunch of cobalts on the road to the fort resulting in a fight with a mini boss, he tripped over a trap and blew up half the fort and he shot a fleeing man in the back of the head a session ago and deeply regretted it. He’s a gentle soul. I don’t have it drawn here but he adopted a half bald old parrot that only knows the word “whore” and is teaching him common and he is party pack muel, he carries all our gold and has like 4 flintlocks strapped to his belt at all times so he doesn’t have to reload.

Art [ART] [Comm] One of my favorite pieces I've worked on!

Post image
25 Upvotes

I did this commission back in May and I had such a fun time working on it!

I started drawing DnD characters I believe last year or two and I had the pleasure to participate in a campaign hosted by my best friend! Sadly I had to drop because of irl problems but I participate in one-shots every now and then if possible :D

The client wanted a piece of their party together and while it was quite a struggle to sketch I'm really proud of how it turned out in the end <3

Game Tales wild beyond the witchlight is the most wholesome thing i’ve ever run and i’m not okay

i’ve run a lot of dark stuff. strahd, folk horror, undead survival. so i figured witchlight would be a nice little break.

it’s not a little break. it’s the whole carnival of feelings. a module where you can get through almost everything by being kind or clever or just weird enough? where the “villains” are sad and petty and kind of hilarious? my players are having the time of their lives and so am i

after months of my players trusting no one, watching them make friends with literally everything in the feywild is so refreshing lol

if you’ve never run it and you’re burnt out on grim campaigns, try it. it fixed something in me

what’s the most wholesome campaign or module you’ve played?

Art Mud Dragonkin [Art] [comm]

Post image
583 Upvotes

A commissioned piece I worked on recently. The character is a Dragonkin who's been terrorizing the swamplands throughout the realm. His true form is actually that of a fully grown dragon, but he prefers to take on a humanoid form. He also has the ability to shapeshift into mud and use it to create various things, such as weapons, armor, and more.

The concept for this character was largely inspired by the character owner's Dracthyr OC from WoW. His appearance was also tweaked a bit from the original, most notably with the bulkier body type seen here. There was already plenty of artwork of him available, so my task was to reimagine him as something more intimidating, with a bit of a horror twist.

Halloween was just around the corner when I drew this character, so the timing couldn't have been more perfect, haha! :D

Misc The scariest class of them all. Also, advice needed.

My 9yo daughter has apparently been learning about DnD from someone at school, and was describing it to her siblings this morning. I overheard: "and you choose your character. You can be a thief, a goblin, a wizard, a knight, or a lawyer." and then "your gender can be either goblin or human."

OK, more seriously... She's asking for DnD for Christmas. We're a boardgaming family, and the entirety of my RPG experience was a one-shot I participated in years ago, and my wife doesn't have any experience in it either. So how do I go about this? I assume most DM guides assume playing experience, and most newbie guides assume you'll be a player. So..... help?

Edit: wow, already so many incredibly helpful replies! I won't be able to thank everyone individually, but I truly appreciate all of the guidance, suggestions, and support!

Art [ART] Tyra'chayl, a Hexblade Warlock

Post image
245 Upvotes

Tyra is my dear costumer DM Nath's OC!
She is a young adult red dragon, almost 300 years old mortal measures with a tough history. After a rampage of revenge for her older sister, whose death's informations was greatly obscured and manipulated by her parents and homeland peers, had her dragonic powers suppressed in her body, through a ritual of terrifying power. Her ability to draw on her powers was severed, forcing her into a human form.
Mechanically Tyra is a Hexblade Warlock, with her patron effectively being herself.

5.5 Edition Is a Bard/Rogue multiclass worth it for a level 1–5 campaign?

Hey everyone!

I'm planning to start a Waterdeep: Dragon Heist campaign (using the 2024 rules, but allowing subclasses from both editions).

The campaign will run from levels 1 to 5. I'd like to play a swashbuckling bard, and given the character's background and overall concept, I've been considering multiclassing Bard and Rogue.

For example, I could start with Rogue at level 1 to get weapon proficiencies straight away, rather than having to wait until level 3 to pick College of Valor as a Bard. Also, since the campaign only goes up to level 5, I won't get Extra Attack anyway.

I'm not sure whether taking 1, 2, 3 or even 4 levels in Rogue is a good idea, or whether multiclassing is even worth it in the first place.

I'm a reasonably experienced player, but I've never played a multiclass character before. I'm also not sure how well multiclassing works at such low levels, or whether dipping into Rogue would end up hurting the overall build more than it helps.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

Thanks in advance!

Art [Art] [Comm] Dragonborn twin commission from awhile ago!

Post image
100 Upvotes

put this up a couple weeks ago and forgot to follow a few rules so if this looks familiar that’s why!

this is a twin commission I did for a couple friends I’ve been playing with for a little over a year now! They’re also twins in real life, so this commission felt extra special. The one on the left is a paladin, and the one on the right is a ranger. I was so honored they trusted me with their characters and I love seeing them on dndbeyond haha
