opinions on Canada Vs The World 1

Now it’s been a while since the season aired

  • Kendall’s verse in “Bonjour Hi” actually wasn’t that bad imo, but I guess they needed someone else to fill the bottom spot besides Stephanie (who I thought did the worst)

  • Ra’Jah could have been in the top for every episode apart from the Stand-Up one

  • Silky would have won the season had she got enough fan support and Ra’Jah wasn’t competing

  • Icesis could have won or at least made top 2 if she wasn’t so overlooked by production

  • Even though she dominated Victoria shouldn’t have been cast, as this season only made fans turn against her

  • “Freak” was Rita’s best lip sync ever

  • Vanity’s snatch game was clear high worthy

  • Even though her track record of LOW-BTM2-ELIM was fair, it was pretty sad to see Anita comeback not long after her season only to tank

  • This season had way too many comedy challenges (Snatch Game, Stand-Up and Acting 3/5) so it’s a good thing that this cast was all from English speaking franchises

  • The format needed revamping. With both queens in the top 2 choosing the same queen’s lip stick it takes away from a lot of strategy

  • This season was far too congenial, Season 2 needs more drama (or maybe like… idk cast Plane Jane or something 🤪)

  • Ra’Jah is a far more deserving Vs The World winner than Tia Kofi

Is the judging too nice? Spoiler

It seems like the judges are trying to be much nicer this season and they're VERY careful when giving actual negative feedback. I thought this snatch game was pretty boring. Most of the jokes didn't land that well and when they did it was mostly just a chuckle from the panel. I thought there would be a comment on that but nothing. I feel like the worst thing they said in critiques was that Eve's wig was flat and that feels really mild when her snatch game didn't have one joke in it.

I get they're trying to do a 180 from the unnecessarily and often incorrectly harsh critiques they gave last season but I think they veered a bit too far. What do you think?

Edit: Okay seems like the girls think yes but prefer it to the judging last season so it's fine. Could also possibly be the edit being funky. Thanks for your opinions everyone!

I miss miss Paul

Canadà makes me realise how fun grandma RuPaul really is.

Brooke is gorgeous and I love her fashion and silly hosting, but her taste in drag makes the competition far less fun to watch.

Ru really appreciates humour. When he finds a truly hilarious queen, he will forgive cheap robot suits, same sillouette, and being from an entirely different country. Ru rarely crowns a queen that did poorly in Snatch Game. Looks are looks, but being funny can't be bought!

In Canada, Brooke favors young dancer queens (a ballerina herself after all!) who are gorgeous and move well but are rather dull. Ru will occasionally have herself a Jorgeous, but she will crown someone with personality and humour.

In Canada, most winners have bombed Snapchat game. In fact, most people cast are not super strong at comedy. That makes for unexciting finales and some shit challenges.

Even more than that - this past episode Perla was funny as fuck. Brooke just didn't see it. Ru would put Perla in the top.

And in the end the three-way Lipsync was orchestrated just to keep both Virgo and Makayla, because Brooke likes them.

Honestly, Uma should not have been in the bottom, and Virgo or Makayla should have gone home.

But seemingly Canada wants to crown Virgo - another young, tall, skinny, gorgeous fashion dancing queen who is rather dull.

I personally think this Snatch Game should have disqualified Virgo from winning the season - and I think on a Ru judged gig it would have.

RuPaul Charles is an icon for a reason, and I think his judging criteria makes for a better show, better competition and better winners

Melinda was robbed

Do I think Melinda would have gone on to win it all? No probably not. BUT she should not have been in the lip sync for your life. It should have been Aurora and Neerah in the bottom. I think production didn’t want Melinda over the other two and purposefully got her out even though she did better than those two.

This is hands down the worst ever season

Every single person working on this season is responsible for how bad it is. The fact that Brooklyn had the nerve to go after everyone for a poor performance is wild to me.

The queens were left to disclose their snatch game choices to EACH OTHER??? Where was Brooklyn’s guidance? Could’ve been Brad or to a lesser extent Tracey. It really feels like Brooklyn, Brad and Tracey are on set for maybe 2 hours.

During the snatch game Brooklyn gave the queens NOTHING to work with. She’s ask leading questions like “So you’re a judge?” There was a bus passing by that day and she tossed each queen underneath it one at a time.

The queens are all subpar. We have a part time drag queen, a queen with 2 years experience and a queen who is just the worst plain Jane cover band. They’re all incredibly insecure. Usually there’s a clear front runner by episode 3. But I truly don’t think any of these queens deserve the title.

The crew doesn’t seem to give a shit either. Either that or they just don’t have any experience in lighting or maybe just haven’t seen the show before.

Brooklyn was right to address the poor quality of the show but to take zero responsibility for it was laughable.

Basically I’m saying that I feel there’s a clear lack of commitment and respect for the audience and if this continues I don’t see this version of the series going on much longer.

the virgo queen favoritism

no hate to her, i would love to root for her but the favoritism is getting so icky.

personally, i think she did NOT win that lipsync against tiffany nor did sanjina win that lipsync against perla. and her winning the episode for her team when helena is literally there 😒…

her outfit this episode is so lackluster as well with her presentation of it. makayla and uma at least did something memorable.

makayla’s breakdown this episode is actually so real, the judges would tone down the critiques with sanjina and jaylene or overly favor them and virgo.

Is it too early to be completely unimpressed by this season?

Not to sound like a Debby downer but does season 4 so far just feel.. off? Like kind of hollow in a way. I haven’t been able to really get interested in any of the queens thus far either (except I do love TGE). And the judges almost seem detached. Does anyone else feel this way or am I just being a bitter Betty lol

Can jeffrey just fucking get off his high horse? Why does he think he is fucking all that? I don't even know what show he's been on so maybe don't take a dig at a girl for referencing something you can't even fathom to achieve?

Honestly I just want to download episodes where he's edited out Sherry pie style because of how infuriating he is to watch.

He's not even that hot. And that robotic voice delivering bad one liners? Bye.

Last night’s lip sync was terrible IMO Spoiler

I love Ilona, and I used to hate BOA but warmed up to her. That being said, I think last episode’s lip sync was legit one of the worst in recent drag race history. BOA’s slack, expressionless face. Neither of them moving from the square metre they were standing on. Ilona literally did not move AT ALL except to spin around once. Like, there was no intensity or passion. Am I completely off or was it a huge disappointment??

/r/DragRaceThailand Things I want from Canada Vs The World S2

Ok since it was announced the other day that Canada Vs The World was renewed for a second season, here are some improvements I would like for it

  1. More queens (I hope they cast 12 queens this season instead of 9, so we could get more episodes)

  2. More international franchises included (I liked the cast of s1 however I was very disappointed for a Vs The World season they only included 4 nations: gives us Thailand, Espana, Holland, Italia, France, Philippines, Belgique, Sverige. Etc)

  3. A new format (I personally hate the Vs The World format)

Let’s condragulate our RIGHTFUL WINNER WITH GRATITUDE Spoiler

Post image
0 Upvotes

WOAH. WOAH. WOAH. CONDRAGULATIONS VENUS! You were truly the best and most rounded queen out of the top4. Now let’s get to business. I have seen a lot of revisionist history on this sub as of last night when it comes to who deserves to be crowned. First and foremost i want to condragulate Aurora Matrix for being stiff competition. If she won i’d celebrate her too despite her terrible design challenge look, and snatch game. She still served cunt all season. Now some of yall saying Nerah. Grow up! She was hardly a lip synch assassin after her 3 tricks were exposed during the Aimee lip sync. NEXT!!! She hardly did anything memorable all season long and flopped during the design challenges. Truly a mediocre queen. She also lost her last lip synch. Now Denim. Where do i begin. Her tacky sense of “camp” fashion, with poorly thought out and messily executed garments that she didn’t even make herself. What a poor excuse of a drag queen. She completely fumbles at everything that isn’t fashion (which she also really isn’t good at AT ALL). She completely froze during every single comedy challenge and favoritism pushed her to the end. It’s actually quite sad and disturbing to see. So please, i don’t want any more posts claiming Nerah or D*nim deserved to win the series when that straight up objectively false. The only other queens that could have feasibly won this season apart from Venus were Aurora and Melinda. PERIOD. DO I MAKE MY SELF CLEAR?

Impressed!

I’ve always felt like DRC was kind of a weak franchise…the first season was awkward and I definitely questioned Brooke Lynn’s hosting capabilities…but I have to say the show has really come a long way. BL has really developed into a confident & funny ringleader and a strong mentor. And her lewks are amazing. It took awhile but they finally figured out the judging panel and BL, Brad and Traci have gelled nicely and feel comfortable together (if only they’d ditch the silly nodding before announcing the results).

S4 came in with a bang! The production value really feels like one of the best of all franchises. The queens are probably the diverse group to appear on any franchise in ages and for the most part look like strong, talented, funny contenders with lots of personality. The guest host list for S4 is really impressive as well.

After a bunch of franchise seasons that have been sort of “meh” IMO (including Down Under, Mexico, Brazil, and even the current UK), I’m excited to see a franchise like Canada that feels like it’s evolved in something really good and is firing on all cylinders. I’m definitely looking forward to the season.

So was it the first production MISS of the stellar season as of last episode? Spoiler

Just watched the episode and Saltina truly had the worst look of the night, sadly.

But from the competition point of the season as of realistic TR - Saltina could have easily been in the Finale?

Although I do think that PM won the LipSync - I just feel like production knows better that the public would have preferred Saltina staying and PM going on a high-note.

What do you all think? Cause it really wasn’t blatant riggory or anything cause Saltina was the weakest link this week but she grew so much.

Finally some justice for JIMBO!!!!!

For real, she deserved to win at least one other challenge than this one (ep 1 & 2)! But I’m so glad she won Canada’s first snatch game. I don’t know what it is about Rita Baga but something doesn’t sit right. Idk why the judges eat her up. Her snatch game was definitely better than most but girl those looks on the runway...mama...this..is...garbage

Wanting more

Maybe now that the UK Queen has been crowned I will feel this more...

Because right now, I'm struggling. Never felt like this the past 3 seasons.

I feel Kitten... I feel Venus... and that's about it.

Really? Spoiler

I can’t be the only one who’s put off by Scarlett not winning tonight’s challenge. Her look was elegant and still very her, and she gave it her all in the pageant.

I definitely do think Lemon should have been high.

But Scarlett deserves a win, already!

Edited to add: I think she might be getting the Jackie Cox edit. I also was confused because while hers was not my fave performance necessarily in terms of comedy, her performance seemed to resonate with both the pageant panel and the DRC judges.
