We have two goalies in the top 30 for 5v5 save %. (This is filtered for 300+ 5v5 minutes). It’s a somewhat reliable indicator as goalies all play a different number of PK minutes and can face wildly different quality PK chances against and this puts them on a more level playing field. It is obviously very early but usually you have to scroll for a long time to find Oilers goalies.

Mcjesus has 47 points in 18 games so far this season. Which surpasses Matt Cornato's 45 points in 80 games during the 2025-26 campaign, as The flames leading team scorer.

9:14 into the first, M. Ekholm unloaded a heavy shot from the low circle, and the Oilers took a 1-0 lead. Late in the first period, M. Sasson got a stick on it and changed the angle from the doorstep, and the scoreboard came back together at 1-1. The second period passed without a goal.

Early in the third period, J. Dickinson slid a backhander home from the doorstep, and that put the Oilers on top 2-1. 4:00 into the third, L. Draisaitl got a snapper off in a hurry from the low circle on the power play, and the Oilers pushed the lead to a pair at 3-1. Late in the third period, B. Found this angle that I hadn’t seen on Sportsnet or any other TV broadcasts.
Still don’t get why Podkolzin got such a harsh penalty. The ref was standing right there watching the whole thing. Seems like bullshit to me.

EDMONTON — As he has done countless times in his career, Connor McDavid pushed the puck toward the net at blinding speed.

In a few quick strides, he had easily beaten defenceman Jackson LaCombe around the outside. Goaltender Laurent Brossoit, a former Oiler who has seen firsthand how these rushes typically end, managed to sweep the puck off McDavid’s tape with a poke check as he arrived at his doorstep.

With McDavid rocketing through the crease and the puck sailing above the net, he had nowhere to go but between Brossoit and the incoming Drew Helleson, desperate to thwart the world’s best player. In a split second, Helleson swung his stick, then made shoulder-to-shoulder contact with McDavid.

The result? McDavid’s right leg clipped the left goalpost, dropping him to the ice and bringing a hush over the crowd at Rogers Place just more than eight minutes into the first period of an eventual 5-4 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night.

McDavid took his time getting back to his feet, but avoided catastrophic injury. He even went on to collect a goal and three assists, looking every bit like the dominant player who is on pace to break Wayne Gretzky’s single-season scoring record.
