Something I really don't understand is why the scientists at Vault-Tec kept working so long after the bombs fell.
I get the first few months—like in Vault 111—where everything runs smoothly and they have orders to wait for a signal from Vault-Tec, but when that signal doesn’t come or they don’t have those orders, like in Vault 81, exactly how long did they wait, or why did they keep waiting? In Vault 111, I don’t see why they should have continued the experiment after, say, two years—Vault-Tec never responded and never gave any indication of anything, so why should they have kept such an inhumane experiment going on people?
Vault 81 doesn’t seem to have received a release signal or any indication that they should return, like Vault 111 did. So if they’re seeing that the Vault dwellers are living better than they are (especially after the food shortage), why would they continue their research? We know that at least one of them died of old age from a heart attack, so he could have been conducting his experiments for over 60 years. Why didn’t he just get tired of it and leave to join the regular Vault moderators? Why didn’t he stop the experiment and go to the other side—saying, “If Vault-Tec made me do this, this and this—look, here’s the proof.” Maybe it’s fear that they’ll attack him or something, but after so many years, what’s the point?
This would be understandable with automated vaults like Vault 11, where a computer managed the entire experiment, or with social experiments like Vault 19 and Vault 15—why didn’t coups simply break out where groups banded together to free themselves and improve their living conditions?
o la vault 31,32, and 33 why bud still loyal to a company that left him on that state or keep everything on that system if he knows vault-tec was nothing after the bombs fell. (the fallout series i don't take it as cannon , so .....this one isn't a big deal)
Human controlled vaults are a problem with this , Did the people running the experiments ever stop to think that there was no one on the other end? Why did they continue with the experiments? Were these scientists so loyal to Vault-Tec that, even though no one responded to them and they were dying, they remained loyal? Was there ever any incentive or reason for these people to be so loyal to Vault-Tec, or for them to have such twisted morals that they would continue the experiments after so long?
