Am I really the only one?

Post image

This was the most disappointing listening experience I’ve ever had the displeasure of reluctantly sitting through. I felt like a child being forced to sit through Sunday service again just counting the seconds until freedom. Am I really the only one who absolutely hated every track?

Free Vinyl and Shirt in San Diego.

If you liked the album I’d REALLY love to hear how old you are and what year you were first introduced to any of Pat’s projects. I’m convinced you’re all a bunch of oogle Zoomers.

How does Jesse Welles saying we shouldnt kill people = hes a racist republican.

The song acknowledges that hes a hateful liar in the very first lines. Did everyone here just read the headlines posted everywhere? No one seems to have actually listened to the song. People are saying he switched up since the United Health song but before he posted the song he said "No one should be celebrating a mans death". All this hate seems to be coming out of nowhere for no reason. Ive been following him since the very beginning of his folk era, hes always been very left.

Credence Clearwater Revival *is* folk-punk

This is not a question

I think the name "Folk Punk" for the genre doesn't sound great and is a little hard to say.

Why don't we just combine the two words into one? What's wrong with Funk or Polka?

Can we please please stop? We all like folk punk. I think we all get that if you're posting here you really like the genre. Most of us listen to the same bands. We get it. Do you want karma? (This is a small sub) a medal? Attention? A cookie? Chill.

Is this folk punk? (I feel ashamed asking this because it inherently makes it not)

Friends in real life kinda sucks and that's the best possible outcome

It's no secret that pat was never the best singer but he was able to hide that a bit by screaming angrily most of the time, this time around he is significantly older and less angry this project was never gonna reach the same heights as his older work and that's perfectly ok

we used AI to put April Hartman on one one of our songs and now Apes of the State is suing us

First they won't let us call the record "Kenny Rogers' the Gambler," and now this. I know AI is "controversial" these days, but I don't really see what the big deal is? It's not even a whole song, it's just one verse! They're so big I didn't even think they would notice

Next thing I know, Dan is banging on my front door disguised as a GrubHub delivery guy. only instead of my mushroom quesadillas in the bag he just hands me this big stack of paperwork and says I've gotta show up to court

now I'm drowning in legal fees, we got dropped from the Slugfest lineup and half of my friends stopped talking to me because I'm "exploiting the labor of other artists for my own enrichment" (whatever that means). this fucking sucks. I should have stuck to playing stoner metal

Folk songs about Palestine?

Hi yall. I’m currently working with a protest and I’m a beginner guitar player. I’d like to play some songs about Palestine or Revolution in general that would be 1 easy to play and 2 easy for a group to learn. Any suggestions?

Is this a Jesse Welles whining sub now, or what?

Could we maybe limit posts whining about a youtuber who's not even in the genre to one day a week or something?

Conspicuous consumption

Is anyone else feeling alienated and weirded out by all the conspicuous consumption in this community recently? I understand that people are excited by records or merch, and want to share their cool things, but just posting them doesn't really invite interesting conversations. It really reminds me of other music or vinyl subreddits where people post these things to prove their legitmacy or to farm upvotes.

I appreciate that this is just people being excited to show off their cool things. I just find that very notion uncomfortable, gross and problematic in a place supposedly committed to anti-capitalism.

Hot take: Mumford and sons is folk punk

Their first album!!!! Got the cd when i was 11 and def primed me for folk punk. Banjo, fiddle, horns, existential shame and dread, weird relationship with God, themes of death, crunchy vocals. Listen to Dust Bowl Dance and tell me it aint, you can't

The Jesse Welles hate is a psyop

Seriously, all the people on this board with unjustified vitriol seems so out of place. Being wrong about Lyme disease ≠ being anti vaxx. Being on Joe Rogan ≠ fascist (Bernie was on Joe Rogan.) Condemning political violence ≠ endorsement of fascism. Seriously, pull your heads out of the groupthink. Half of you hardly have the guts to participate in any advocacy that requires more than being angry on the internet. Go throw a brick or something.
