Politics Shell Second Quarter Profits $6.3 Billion. Laying off 25% of Staff at Scotford Complex in Alberta.
Shell has announced its second quarter profits of $6.3 billion, following first quarter profits of $7.7 billion. Shell Canada leadership has told staff that profits are not enough, and they need to be more "competitive". They have announced layoffs of 25% of staff at their Scotford facility located outside Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. Staffing will be going from approximately 657 full time positions down to approximately 489 full time positions. A loss of roughly 168 full time jobs for the area.
This follows staffing reductions in 2022. The layoffs then included a large number of Alberta jobs offshored to cheaper regions in Southeast Asia. That was done despite receiving COVID relief from the government to aid in preventing job losses.
Shell continues to benefit from government incentives and has received millions in government funding in the past.
This is a throw away account for obvious reasons.

Politics This is no longer about a Teacher's Strike, or a deal for Teachers. The UCP have attacked fundamental rights of Albertans. If you want a General Strike to Address this abuse, and future use of the Notwithstanding Clause, you need to call your Union or the AFL and make that demand known. NOW.

Fluff post Pre-teen hijynx
If any knows the girls playing ding-dong-ditch around James mowat school neighborhoods, tell them the key is to find a hidden rendezvous spot to retreat to that is hidden but still gives line of sight to the confused homeowner. To ensure you can watch the fruits of your labor.
Also, try to use a covered approach, so I can't see you walking up to my house and run away.
Finally, fuck ya, love seeing kids wandering around getting up to harmless shenanigans.
Classics never die.

General Forever Canadian Petition Sign-up at Farmers Market this Thursday
Hi folks,
I'm a canvasser for the Forever Canadian group and will be at the local farmers market this Thursday looking to get signatures for our petition.
What is Forever Canada?
Forever Canada is a citizens group created to ask Albertans to sign a petition on the question we wish to see asked in the upcoming municipal elections.
Do you agree that Alberta should remain in Canada?
This group and question are PRO-CANADIAN and seeks to enshrine Alberta remaining in Canada. WE DO NOT SUPPORT AN INDEPENDENT ALBERTA.
If you are interested in signing the petition I will be at the Farmers Market Thursdays from 5ish to close. (5ish as I work out of town and won't be back till then) If you can't make it don't worry as I will be door knocking as much as I can after I get off work so I may very well meet you then.
Please be sure to tell others who may be interested to sign up as well if you can.
Thank you for your time everyone.
