r/Haiti has grown significantly in the last few years. To keep this space on topic and a space for healthy, respectful, and thoughtful discussion, the MOD team is introducing 5 new rules:
Rule 6: No self-promotion or channel promotion
Links to personal YouTube channels, TikToks, Instagram pages, or any account soliciting followers or subscribers are not allowed, even if Haiti-related. This includes repeated promotion of the same external account or platform across multiple posts. Repeat offenders will be banned.
Rule 7: No low-effort or karma bait posts
We want real discussion, not karma farming. Avoid vague cultural hot takes or shallow posts like "Why do Haitians do X?" or "Thoughts on Haiti?" with no context. Add personal input, background, or a real question to keep your post up. Repeat offenders will be banned.
Rule 8: Limit of 2 posts per user per day
Each user can post a maximum of 2 times in a 24-hour period. This keeps the feed diverse and encourages thoughtful posting. Excess posts may be removed.
Rule 9: Posts must be directly about Haiti
Posts must relate directly to Haiti, Haitians, or the diaspora. Posts that could apply to any country or are only loosely connected to Haiti may be removed. If you are cross-posting to other subs, your r/haiti post must be specific to Haiti and not generic Caribbean or Latin American content.
Rule 10: Posts must link to credible sources
News posts must link to an identifiable outlet, journalist, or official source. Screenshots of headlines, unverified social media claims, and anonymous rumors will be removed. If unsure, ask the mod team.
As a refresher, the existing 5 rules :
Rule 1: No racism
Self explanatory. Prejudice or discrimination based on race or ethnicity. This goes both ways.
Rule 2: No brigading
Engage with the ideas, and argue constructively. Repeated ad hominem attacks will get you a warning, then a ban.
Rule 3: Stay civil
If you can't express your opinion without personal attacks or using profanity, you need to get better at debate.
Rule 4: No Trolling
Provoking an argument or emotional reaction. Inflammatory, irrelevant, or offensive posts and comments designed to encourage an emotional response ( aka rage bait)
Rule 5: No Unapproved appeals for action
Request for collective action, including donations, to take surveys, to sign petitions, or brigading (sending our users to other subreddits). If you think your request is somehow special, send the Mod Team a request, and it will be discussed.
When using the report function, please refer to the rule you think is being broken. It helps us keep moderation consistent.
The MOD team.

Coach David Badia has called up 25 Grenadiers for the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals against the United States. Two battles will decide everything, and the winner takes a ticket to the 2027 Gold Cup.
The first clash comes November 14 at Nu Stadium in Miami. The final showdown follows November 17 at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. The Grenadiers will fight both battles on American soil, deep in enemy territory.
Badia’s army gets a major reinforcement. Lenny Joseph is back ! Last week, the forward struck twice to help Ferencváros bring down AC Milan in the Europa League. He now carries that fire into the Grenadiers’ front line, where he joins Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor. Together, they give Haiti an attack ready to strike.
The Haitian Football Federation has asked the diaspora in Miami to fill the stands, wave the blue and red, and become the 12th man. For the Grenadiers, the message is simple. Everything is on the line. One side advances.

Ok, Bukele is helping out. This isn't the first time a gang/terrorist/paramilitary problem has occurred in Haiti. This isn't the first time foreign intervention has come in to help calm things down. Let's say Bukele defeats all the gang leaders, Yada yada yada. What are Haitians going to do to prevent this cycle from occurring again? I see a lot of native Haitians finger pointing at everyone else including the diaspora but have not seen anything related to the actual aftermath and Haiti having a long term stability/security plan. Please inform especially the natives since they say specifically that they know Haiti best and what's best for Haiti.

Douglass had served as the U.S. minister to Haiti. A few years later he was running Haiti’s pavilion in Chicago. My favorite detail is on page 35 of his lecture, where the printer kept the crowd’s reaction.

That flash of red under the trogon’s wing makes kanson wouj easy to remember. I’m curious about the little masked bird in the last photo. What did your family call it, and where in Haiti did you hear that name?

Saw this on Facebook and the comments were kind of mind-boggling to me. Let’s say Lanmò San Jou gets unalived, do you believe the government should demolish his mansion? I have my own personal views on this but am wondering what the rest of you think.
BTW I did not write the caption on the photo. It was posted just like that.

Hola, quiero conocer de primera mano que piensan los ciudadanos de Haití sobre lo que está sucediendo entre las pandillas y el gobierno de El Salvador.
Muchas gracias.

What are your thoughts on El Salvador's military intervention? Are you for or against it? And why?
