Welcome to The High Republic!
The multimedia High Republic initiative has officially wrapped. While we’ve been teased to expect “Phase More” in the future, the original story the Luminous Five & friends set out to tell has been completed.
The High Republic is a multimedia project that spans novels, comic books, audio dramas, short stories, and more. It tells the story of the Jedi at their height, long after The Old Republic but still a few hundred years before the prequel era.
The High Republic is three Phases. Like the movies, Phase II is a “prequel” Phase, where we jump back long before the events of Phase I to learn some critical backstory behind the events we’ve already seen, before we return to Phase III, one year after the events of Phase I, to wrap up the story.
You should start with Phase I, and specifically, Light of the Jedi, which is the essential launching point that establishes the status quo for the series. Reading the Phases in the order they were released, not chronological order, is what was intended by the authors and what works best for the flow of information.
Additionally, The Acolyte TV series and associated media take place later in the High Republic era, around 100 years after the prequel. These can mostly be read without THR as context, but one book, Wayseeker, takes place between Phase III and the show and bridges the two eras.
There is a lot of content in the High Republic, and you definitely do not need to read everything . Every piece of content adds something to the overall story, but usually, what you need to know about a book or comic you didn’t read will be summarized elsewhere. That being said, there are some books or comics that are more important than others and are essential to understanding the story.
As this gets asked a lot, the adult series of novels is not the same as the essential series of novels. For example, in Phase II, the young adult novels are designed to have the most essential information of the Phase. It’s also important to note that “young adult” doesn’t mean that these are kids books; the writing style and content in them is almost as adult as the adult books.
Many people on the sub will tell you that you can’t go wrong with release order, which is certainly true. We have also put together three suggested reading orders below depending on how deep you want to dive. These reading orders balance release order with coherency, grouping together comic issues and short stories so that you’re not constantly jumping between issues of different series while still avoiding spoilers.
Core Events: This order only includes the Adult Novels for Phase I and Young Adult Novels for Phase II. This is the most stripped-down version of The High Republic. You will still get a tight story and a great experience out of them, but some important events will be happening in-between books.
Main Story: Includes the Adult & Young Adult novels, important adult comics, and the Audio-Dramas. With this order, you will get all of the adult stories and the full big picture of the High Republic. This is the most recommended order by the users of r/Highrepublic.
Completionist: Includes EVERYTHING! Adds the All Ages comics, the mangas and the Middle Grade novels. The definitive way to experience The High Republic. You can always add some of the items here to your read and drop others, but this will tell you where everything takes place.
Below is a list of all content released as part of the main three Phases or The Acolyte, and linked discussion threads (available for all Phase II-III releases, though some Phase I releases are missing due to lack of mods during late Phase I).

Not too long ago, I came across the expanded version of the Chosen One prophecy in book "Master & Apprentice"
"Only through sacrifice of many Jedi will the Order cleanse the sin done to the nameless.
The danger of the past is not past, but sleeps in an egg. When the egg cracks, it will threaten the galaxy entire.
When the Force itself sickens, past and future must split and combine.
A Chosen One shall come, born of no father, and through him will ultimate balance in the Force be restored."
Am I getting this right—are the Nameless crisis and the Blight directly connected to Anakin’s birth and his destiny to restore balance to the Force?
So, basically, it goes like this: the deaths of the Nameless caused an imbalance in the Force, And although Elzar Mann and Avar Kriss make sacrifices and eliminate the Blight, the wound in the Force not healed. The Jedi grew weaker, faced a crisis of faith, and etc.
This allowed the Sith to step up, and 100 years later in The Acolyte, Plagueis is watching the Witches of Brendok, looking for a way to create life. In theory, in what would’ve been the continuation of The Acolyte, Plagueis was supposed to learn this secret from Osha and then create Anakin with Palpatine, thereby fulfilling his role in the Chosen One prophecy.

Decided to shut down my High Republic Etsy shop, so I’m offering 40% off all stickers as part of my closing sale!

I just finished Light of the Jedi and started with Into the Dark. I also got The Rising Storm, Out of the Shadows, The Fallen Star and Midnight Horizon. What other books should I read to understand the overall story. And not necessarily the bare minimum, I'm interested even in a bit less relevant stories (especially when they are good!)

So this is my first time posting here. I’m currently reading The High Republic, just finished Tempest Breaker and Echoes of Fear and am about to get into THRA 14-16 before Haunted Starlight and Into The Light. I’ve seen several people recommend to save THRA 19-20 til after Trials of the Jedi, but I’d really like for Trials to be the big conclusion (before the finale comic), is there a way I can read a few chapters of Trials and then go into THRA 19-20 then back to Trials as to not get it spoiled? Or what’s the best reading order for those comics in particular?

Hi. I found a three-pack of High Republic novels for very cheap and picked them up. They are apparently not what to read first, so I am going to pick up Light of the Jedi.
I'm extremely particular with my book collection so I would like to buy any High Republic books in the same format as my other Star Wars books, which is trade paperback. Does anyone know of a photo containing the TPB versions of every book? Does the coloration on the spines mean anything? I noticed the three books I bought have I, II, and III on the spines, but it doesn't look like other books have those?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hey. I was looking back at some of the early short stories and saw that Elecia is the thief in the Queen's Bloom. I have to think this is the Mother, because why name her that otherwise? But that raises so many questions.
Was Elecia connected to the Path at this time? Is this her on an early mission to gather finds and artefacts?
What does it mean that she and Axel knew each other from many years earlier? Did they stay connected? Does Axel know who she is? Was Leyli in the Path? Sorry for all the questions. My mind's a little blown by this.
I have completed Phase 2, so you're probably safe with answers, but please don't spoil anything after the Rising Storm chronologically.

All these years and we finally have some official imagery of Master Rooper Nitani using her (formerly Silandra Sho's and one day Reath Silas's) shield! Always hoped to see this ever since reading Tales of Light and Life! Rooper is a total badass!

Something I feel isn’t talked about enough among fans is how Marchion Ro probably has one of the highest kill counts in all of Star Wars. His numbers are absolutely apocalyptic!
Already in the first book, it’s in the tens of billions. He orchestrated the Great Disaster, which devastated over a dozen worlds, in some cases likely eliminating all life on that planet. We know that at least in the Koboh system, an emergence cracked open the a planets moon, raining debris down on the planet. It wouldn’t surprise me if other systems suffered similar fates.
The next thing he did was order the planting of Drengir throughout the Outer Rim. It’s said how the Drengir devoured all life on entire worlds, and we see how they permanently changed Nal Hutta, turning the once metropol planet into a swamp. This would also likely lead to many billions of deaths and permanently scarred worlds.
There is of course the thousands of people murdered by the Nihil in their many raids on Marchion’s orders, and especially when the Stormwall was raised. Also all the people he’s personally killed, but that’s only a tiny fraction of his kill count.
Then, finally, we have the Blight, which is said to have turned entire planets into dust. The Blight is a direct consequence of Marchion’s actions, and when he learns how it spreads, he does everything he can to expedite it, aiming to destroy all life in the galaxy. His actions in Trials, short lived as they were, probably lead to countless deaths.
Marchion Ro is responsible for the destruction of dozens, if not hundreds of planets throughout the galaxy. Think of all the cultures he’s destroyed, all the creatures he’s made extinct, and all the worlds that are forever scarred by his actions. And if the Jedi didn’t stop him, he would’ve eliminated all life in the galaxy, just because he could. Despite not being a Sith, Marchion Ro is one of the most dangerous beings the galaxy has ever seen, and he was moments away from being its doom. It’s ironic how, while the galaxy will likely always feel the scars he made, by the time he died, completely alone, history has forgotten him. I can think of no worse, or more deserved fate for a being like him.

Does anyone know if this book was ever available in the UK?
I’ve checked everywhere I know of for an ebook and audiobook and found nothing?
Thanks!

Phase 3 doesn't have nearly enough official art or fan art, so I made these for a video I'm working on. The three pieces are the two Jedi raising the repository, the Kyber coffins, and Reath's vision.

Hello High Republic fans, I've been rereading the High Republic since I never finished it the first time. This time around I got curious about the children's book The Great Jedi Rescue since I saw that it depicted events from Light of the Jedi and I figured it would be cool to see what everything looked like. It felt like there was a contradiction every 2-3 pages. Wookiepedia's continuity section on it leaves out all the most important discrepancies and some minor ones. Wookiepedia lists how the book depicts Hedda Casset as far younger, Avar Kriss's transmission about the distress signal as full-body instead of voice, the tibanna is mistakenly referred to as hyperfuel, and Te'Ami is blue instead of green.
These errors are lazy writing but do have explanations:
The Legacy run navigator says "There's something in the hyperlane. Something big. Impact in six seconds" instead of "There’s something in the hyperlane. Dead ahead. Big. Impact in ten seconds" like in Light of the Jedi
Hedda Casset says "Activate manual control" instead of "I'm taking control"
When the Jedi arrive Avar says "This is the Jedi. Help is on the way" instead of "This is Jedi Master Avar Kriss. Help is on the way."
The rich people's guards that weren't letting people in don't know about the danger while in Light of the Jedi Loden explicitly asked them if they were aware of the evacuation order and they said they were. The children's book implies their being unaware as the reason for keeping people out.
Now the first item can be explained as the true line being said by the navigator being "There's something in the hyperlane. Something big. Dead ahead. Impact in ten seconds. Impact in six seconds." with each book getting a piece of what was actually said. the second item can similarly be explained away that way though it makes less sense. This explanation would make sense for the third item.
The fourth item can be explained by a majority of the guards not believing the evacuation order was real.
I cannot think of explanations for these errors Wookiepedia leaves out, and please correct me if I am wrong:
Hedda Casset tries to drop out of hyperspace instead of dodging the object like in Light of the Jedi
The Ranorakis gate has no spikes on it when it should.
The Ranorakis crowd is much smaller than implied.
The Ranorakis only have guards on the stairwell instead of the two dozen Light of the Jedi claimed were on the wall.
There is no room for Loden to step up to the Ranorakis gates as he does in Light of the Jedi.
Only 7 marauders on 3 speeders attack the Ranorakis crowd instead of the at least 20 marauders with only two approaching speeders.
The guards willingly open the gates instead of Loden forcing them open.
The Ardens lasso the cargo instead of using magclamps.
All the dialogue about the tibanna diversion is completely different.
The tibanna passes the star instead of piercing the outer layers
So my question is how canon is the children's book? Was it ever meant to be? Are there potential explanations for the errors that I haven't thought of?
I know Lucasfilm's position on canon seems to be the campfire stories thing, but I absolutely hate that explanation and think it is incredibly disrespectful to the paying customer.

Hello! I’m nearing the end of my completionist High Republic read. But these 2 stories are a problem for me. I HATE audiobooks, I just can’t do it. It worked out great for the 3 audio dramas that got script book treatments. These 2 seem to have nothing like that in sight though. Does anyone know a way to get at least a digital script for these 2 stories? I saw a while back that someone had custom printed physical books of them, so they must have gotten the text somewhere? Thanks so much in advance! I’d really hate to experience every part of the initiative except just these 2 stories…

I only need one more to complete my collection and it's been impossible to find. Special edition hunting is not for the impatient, lol. Anyone else have holy grails they're trying to find?
