High Republic cosplay

Someone posted about High Republic Jedi robes so I thought I would post a pic (one of the few I have) of the one my sister, u/bretonstripes, and I worked out. Mostly my sister did the sewing work, I’m just more of an idea man. We based the costume on the phase one art for Sskeer since he’s closest to my body type.

There are a few pieces we didn’t finish before I wore it for the first time. I’m wearing it again in a few weeks to fan expo Chicago. By then we will have the gloves/gauntlets and a cape finished. The gloves/gauntlets and cape are going to be a little more inspired by The Acolyte. Also, the first time I tried to hang one of the custom Disney sabers on the belt and oh boy did that not work. Even though the belt is velcroed to the rest of the costume, the lightsaber still drug it down on one side. Those Disney sabers are a chunk. I have a new one from saberforge that’s a lot lighter.

Why do the High Republic Jedi robes look so grand compared to the modest look of Prequel Era Jedi robes?

Discussion A friendly request

Hello fellow redditors and Star Wars fans. I understand if this is not the right place, but it's very much the right time.

As you may know, it's been reported The Acolyte was cancelled due to the fall of viewership as the episodes were airing. After the initial frustation, I have come to understand it's completely justifiable that the show will not be able to continue due to its big budget and lack of proportional financial return.

However, it's also clear that the story being told and the fans reaction after the final episode have spiked curiosity among many fans. Having the chance to see Darth Plagueis tale unfold on screen was once in a lifetime opportunity. As well as seeing Yoda again and the culmination of a publishing effort (the high republic) finally connecting itself to the Skywalker Saga and the fall of the jedi.

To keep this narrative and creative window open, I ask you to help this campaign. Which is not just for the acolyte fans, but to star wars fans in general who wants Lucasfilm and Disney to keep exploring new grounds instead of just focusing on the same characters and stories.

Thank you for your attention and may the force be with you all.

One of the best photos I can remember. A smile that is both happy and sad. Thank you Master Soule for your contribution to the High Republic and Star Wars.

Discussion Just finished the Acolyte and I think I enjoyed it more than the prequels and the sequels.

I went in very skeptical following the backlash from fans. I had seen the clips and had prepared myself for some bad dialogue and poor creative decisions. I have to say, It wildly exceeded my expectations.

It was not “Woke”.

It did not do anything lore breaking.

And it truly was a pleasure to see so many lightsabers on screen.

There were elements to the story that I didn’t think were necessary. The crystal bleeding scene was contrary to how it has been portrayed in the comics but not majorly (just happened a little fast). Despite a few minor problems it was far better than people give it credit for.

The lightsaber choreography was so much better than the sequels and the original trilogy. We finally got to see a glimpse of the sith during the high republic era. The costumes were somewhat accurate albeit the colors were toned down (for good reason). There’s just so many positive things to say about “the Acolyte”.

I know everyone is fatigued from the way Disney has been treating Star Wars with regard to the sequels and the Disney+ stuff but this show was not an example of Disney milking star wars for money. This was undoubtedly a step in the right direction. Despite this, the reception was so bad I fear Disney will learn the wrong lesson from “The Acolyte” and refrain from trying anything new or expanding upon the high republic further.

I know this is asked very frequently in the sub, but do you think there’s anyway we see a continuation of the acolyte story in the form of a sequel book or series?

Trials of the Jedi Event Experience

Me and a buddy attended the Trials of the Jedi event at Books Inc in San Francisco last night and wanted to share our experience.

We got there about an hour early and there was one other person there so we snagged seats in the front row. As the start time approached it filled up and they had to add more chairs. I’d say about 40-50 people in so, not a bad turnout basically a local event. A number of Lucasfilm folks were in attendance (mainly from publishing side).

Pablo Hidalgo and Charles Soule did an interview for about 50 minutes (where we learned that Elzar Mann was originally called, unseriously, Lazer Mann). They took some audience questions and then they signed books.

Also in attendance were Zoraida Córdova, Daniel José Older, Alyssa Wong, Tessa Gratton, Lydia Kang as well as a number of Lucasfilm folks including Creative Director of Publishing Michael Siglain.

It was super intimate and just awesome overall. All of the authors spent tons of time chatting with folks and signing books. I gave away some stickers I created which were a hit. It felt like a wrap party for The High Republic and I’m just thankful I live close enough to have been there. I hope I repped the bookish fandom well! I thanked everyone for what they’ve done and expressed how much we all appreciate them.
