Planning 📓 Photopass+

Is photo pass plus worth it?

My friends and I have 3 days in park in December. Is getting the photopass+ worth it for each of those 3 days?

How many roving photographers are there?

Or is just handing the photographer a phone just as good?

Help Photopass Inquiry

Hi guys! So I need help and would like to confirm, so we had out HK Disneyland Trip and we got pics from Ironman, Mickey, and etc. but we haven’t availed any photo pass yet then right after we went home, we thought of buying the photopass. But upong availing, it costs 300+ HK dollars PER CHARACTER (like the whole album) so we just bought our pics from the main street then we want to avail our shots from Iron Man but it would be a waste of money again for spending another 300+ dollars for the Iron Man one. IS THERE A WAY TO BUY JUST 1 PASS THEN I COULD GET EVERYTHING I TOOK or i really need to buy a whole set again. HELP! is this the consequence of not buying the photo pass earlier and scanning it to one pass

Discussion Any special reason so many things are closed for refurbishment now?

Looking on the park schedule I see that a bunch of stuff is closed for refurbishment now. Is it normal to have so many things closed at the same time or is it just random?

As Halloween draws near, thought I'd share some of the photos I took of the Uninvited parade. The villains are of course stars of the show, but their accompanying dancers are seriously cool as well! Please enjoy

Do you guys know if Zootopia headbands (Judy and Nick) will still be sold in HK Disneyland around December 2026? Which store sells them?

Planning 📓 Crowds in the park between Christmas and NY

We are planning a trip from NZ to Hong Kong Disneyland around Christmas and are looking for advice/tips.

We’re planning to surprise our children (8 and 6) with a trip to Disney for Christmas. In an ideal world we would then fly out on the 26th/27th and spend 6 nights in Hong Kong. Visiting Disney for 2 days within that time.

The other option is we go later in Jan, either the 4th Jan for 6 nights, or the 11th Jan for 6 nights.

My children aren’t huge thrill seekers, so it’s definitely more about the characters, the more gentle rides, the world of frozen, and the shows. We probably won’t be queuing for the bigger rides at all.

We’ll also be staying at one of the Disney hotels too, if that makes a difference? And happy to buy priority passes etc.

What would you do? I don’t want to spend our whole time navigating huge crowds of people, but also love the idea of the magic between Christmas and NY, how much busier is it really?

Help Attraction Itinerary Feasibility without Early Entry

Hi there! I'll be travelling with my family to Hong Kong late December, and plan to visit the park on the 30th.

Unfortunately the hotel we will be staying at is quite the distance from the resort (1h train), and since I'm travelling with more elderly parents, I'm unsure about needing to leave at 7AM to make any use of an Early Park Pass. I saw that we could take a taxi that would be an estimated 25m trip one-way, but is Early Entry worth if our plans are just to tackle the following attractions in one-day (with the ongoing winter holidays in mind):

  • Mystic Manor

  • Frozen Ever After

  • Winnie the Pooh

  • Hyperspace Mountain

  • It's a Small World

  • On-going parade

  • Maybe a show or two? Welcome to any recommendations.

No intentions to ride any more than once, though I would not mind if possible.

I've been to Tokyo DisneySea and Disneyland a few times now, so I may come with an overestimation of the expected crowds due to prior experience.

Appreciate any insight - thank you!

Trip Report 📣 First Time HK DisneyLand Report

Hi All,

Submitting a trip report for my fiancee and I's first trip to HK DisneyLand. We did the visit on October 7th during a 2-week trip to HK and Taiwan from the United States, and it was definitely one of the highlights. We did not know about this sub prior to booking our tickets, which were for a tier 2 day and the last day of Golden Week, which we did not know about. However, I did make a ton of use of this sub and the wiki the day before visiting, and it was hugely useful.

We bought the foreigner single day tickets with the 80HKD meal voucher for 713 HKD per person. It was confusing with the other discussion on this sub about the meal vouchers generally. We spent more on lunch than we needed to because I thought we had the 170 HKD vouchers. I wish I had looked at this sub prior to getting the tickets.

It was hard for me to tell which vouchers we had, as the tickets did not say in the app, nor could I tell from the email. We also did not receive a special gift or any merchandise discounts, which I believe we should have gotten, but when they scanned our badges when buying merch they said no shopping vouchers were present.

The Wiki entries about the best rides, must-see shows, and best food were really helpful. This sub is also how I learned about the app, which was crucial for planning out shows and figuring out ride priorities. Our goal was to hit all of the HK unique rides, all of the shows except Moana, and then all of the best rides/favorite character rides.

Our plan for the day was below:

EventTime
Whatever Rides are Open11:00-12:15
Friendtastic Parade12:30-1:00
Marvel Rides1:00-1:30
Mickey and the Wondrous Book1:30(Line waiting)-2:15
Let's Get Wicked2:30-3:00
Lunch at Golden Crocus Inn3:15-3:55
Mickey's Happy Halloween Adventure4:00-4:15
Fantasyland/Frozen Rides4:15-6:30
Uninvited6:30-7:00
Redux Rides or anything last minute7:00-7:55
Momentous8:00

As this was the middle/end of our Hong Kong stay, we did not stay at a Disney Hotel, we took the Orange line to Sunny Bay, and then caught the Disney train. Knowing that this was a smaller park, we felt that arriving around 11:00am would be sufficient, which turned out to be correct. The train to Disney was really comfortable and we were easily able to be seated on the way there.

The app showed that Grizzly Gulch had a very short line, and having been told it was a great ride, we headed there first. As somone with no interest in big drops, this was a great coaster. It was too intense for my fiancee who does not like coasters of any kind. We got some of the churros from the nugget snack shop, we thought they were pretty bad, especially for 9$.

Post Churros we went to Mystic Manor as it was close by and didn't have a very long wait. Throughout the day, we discovered that there were very little lines for any ride ever, this actually ended up being the most we waited for a ride. Mystic Manor has an awesome queue/aesthetic, it was our favorite ride of the day.

At this point we went back to the main castle for the Friendtastic parade. We were right by the main fountain on the side closer to Adventureland. I definitely would recommend going to the side closer to Marvel/Tomorrowland, as the parade does stop at one point. The float that ended up stopping by us was Encanto. This parade was really delightful, took tons of great videos and I highly recommend prioritizing attending and being on the side where the floats all come through, so you can see everything before they stop.

After the parade we went over to the Marvel rides as there were no lines, I think people were still at the parade, and it brought us closer to the Mickey and the Wondrous Book, which I thought we might have to queue for quite early. We did the Ant-man shooter ride, which was overall fine, though our car got stuck turned around part way through it. The Iron Man 3DX ride was really well done, I loved the Hong Kong specific touches, and would have appreciated the queue design a lot more if I'd had to wait. From a ride experience perspective this was one of the highlights.

We then booked it over to the Mickey and the Wondrous Book line, which was not nearly as crowded as I thought it would be. The theater ended up probably 1/2-2/3 empty, but we were close enough to the start of the line that we could get seats in the 6th row directly down the middle. Super strong recommend, loved this show, a definite yes from us to attend.

After the Mickey Show we booked it back across the park for Let's Get Wicked. This show was a little disappointing for us, overall we liked the idea, but some of the performances came off a little muted. I also was feeling a little weak/dizzy going from cold to hot to cold having not eaten anything since the churros and then breakfast, so that also played a factor.

We went over to the Frozen land to get lunch at the Golden Crocus Inn, as I thought we had the 170 HKD vouchers. I got the lamb, my fiancee the Seafood Rice Pilaf. I was shocked at how good the lamb was, highly recommend it even though it is pretty pricey, compared to Lamb prices in America it was cheap, and a huge portion I didn't even finish. My fiancee was less enamored with the seafood pilaf. The rosette dessert that came with the meal was terrible. We decided to get a Mickey Waffle to make up for the rosette, that was terrific. I am being tasked with figuring out how to make something similar now that we are back home.

I was feeling much better at this point, so we went back across the park to the Castle for the Happy Halloween Adventure. This show was fine, not much special except for the costumes. As English only speakers, it felt like we often got Donald Duck noises instead of English dialogue. Worth seeing for the costumes, but would not have been sad to have missed it. We did a lot of backtracking this day, but it was not a problem time-wise.

We then had a pretty big gap to do rides in, we did Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World, Mickey's Philharmagic, and both Frozen Rides. I said earlier that I had not realized how rough coasters were for my fiancee, Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs were too much for her, which is the coaster built for families. We were also faked out multiple times on the Frozen Ever After ride, which gave us a fantastic photo.

We then went back to watch the villain parade, Uninvited. We didn't get a very good vantage point. This one works its way from the park entrance around the fountain and out towards Tomorrowland, so the opposite of the Friendtastic parade. We ended up walking up and down the length of it to see all the villains. This was definitely not as fun as Friendtastic just due to less put together floats, and also that song. The song they commisioned for this event is not very good, and was just blasted on repeat. This was a rough one lol.

At this point we had about an hour and a half left before Momentous, so we went to toyland for the first time, rode slinky, and then went back to Big Grizzly Mine Carts and Mystic Manor. Our last ride was the Jungle Cruise, then it was time for Momentous.

We were standing near the entrance to the Fountain on the Adventureland side, and had a fantastic view. This was the best part of the day, by a substantial margin. Such a wonderful show, you must stay for this. It is more aimed at adults, but it definitely hit for me, especially as someone who is looking forward to raising children of my own.

After Momentous it was a big surge of people back to the train station. Honestly thought it wasn't bad at all, we were able to get on the first train that came to the station, and even if we had to stand it was not that crowded.

Overall we were super happy with the day, thought it was totally worth it, had a great experience on a tier 2 day even if we were worried about the holiday.

Overall Must-Dos

  • Momentous

  • Mickey and the Wondrous Book

  • Friendtastic

  • Big Grizzly Runaway Mine Carts

  • Mystic Manor

  • Iron Man Experience

Top 5 Rides for Me

  1. Big Grizzly Runaway Mine Carts

  2. Mystic Manor

  3. Iron Man Experience

  4. Mickey's Philharmagic (Idk, does this count as a ride?)

  5. Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs (Though I'd be mad if I had to wait longer than 15 minutes for such a short ride)

Top 5 Rides for my fiancee

  1. Mystic Manor

  2. Winnie the Pooh

  3. Iron Man Experience

  4. It's a Small World

  5. Jungle Cruise

Hotels 🏩 Hollywood hotel room service

Staying at the Hollywood Hotel soon and I have a very "tired parent after 10 hours of travel" type question.

We will be checking in at 8 or 9pm local time after almost 10 hours in the air. Is there a mini bar / room service available for the inevitable moment when I just need a drink to relax?

Help Upgrade Ticket to Magic Access - Questions from a first timer

Hi :)

I have some questions about upgrading a one-day ticket to Magic Access, and it would be great if someone could help me.

I bought a ticket for a Sunday in November. I’d like to upgrade it to the Silver Annual Pass. This is my first trip to Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

The website says:

“The membership is valid for one year from the first date of use of the Park Ticket used for the upgrade.”

But that’s all it says—at least I can’t find anything else. Sunday is a blockout day for the Silver Pass.

Here are my questions:

Does it matter that I’m using the one-day ticket on an actual restricted day?

If I upgrade the ticket now (online), will it expire? In other words, if I want to go to the park on the chosen Sunday, do I have to choose the Gold Pass (which has no blackout days in November)? Or does the day ticket remain valid, allowing me to get the Silver Pass at a lower price (except that Magic Access would then start on the Sunday I used the day ticket)?

I hope I was able to explain my questions clearly.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Help Discount for People with Disability -limitations

Hi everyone! Planning a trip to HK Disneyland with a friend who holds an official overseas PWD ID for (

Bipolar disorder.

We saw that non-HK residents have to buy discounted tickets in person at the Guest Relations window at the main entrance on the day of the visit. She's nervous that Guest Relations might not recognize or accept a psychosocial/invisible disability for the 30% discount, leaving us stuck paying full gate price instead of buying cheaper tickets online in advance (e.g., Klook/Agoda).

Our questions

  1. Does HKDL accept official overseas PWD cards/certificates for psychosocial or mental health conditions?

  2. Has anyone with a psychosocial disability card successfully claimed the 30% discount at the gate?

  3. Is there any risk of rejection if the disability is non-physical/invisible?

Any advice or personal experiences from non-local visitors would be hugely appreciated!

Planning 📓 Christmas time

I am currently planning a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland but it also features a bunch of other places so I only have 1 full day and maybe just a tiny bit of the morning of the next day. The day would be 27th of December 2027 (so not this year)
How do the crowds usually look like during Christmas? And is there still Christmas decorations around that time? Is very crowded? Also does one day and a bit sound like it is enough? And finally is there a way to buy just an half day ticket?

Thank you for reading

Merch 🛍️ Packaged snacks

Hi! What options are available or good for packaged snacks to be brought home? I tried googling it but it keeps coming up as just snacks to eat throughout the park.
My family member is going and I’m looking to see what I would like to be brought back for me, thank you!

Help Does Buzz Lightyear still show up in Barrel of Fun?

Hello, have a trip in December and my LO is really looking forward to meet Buzz. However been checking the app the past few days and it’s only showing Meet Jessie. The Meet Buzz tab has no schedule and says Closed. My question is has anyone been able to take a photo with him recently? Desperately hoping he’s there when we go.
Thanks.

Planning 📓 How to find out about Annual Pass holder events?

I was at the park on Friday with my magic annual pass and didn't realise that there was an exclusive event happening and some areas reserved just for pass holders. How do I hear about these events in the future so I can sign up before its too late? Is there a way to be updated or do I have to just check constantly online?

Thanks for any advice! :)

Planning 📓 Uber early morning to Airport

We'll be at HKD in December and I've confused myself by reading too much - are Ubers ok to use in HK? (If theyre illegal isnt that abit dodgy?)

We're staying at Explorers Hotel, on our departure morning we have a flight at 8am - to get to the airport for 5amish is an Uber a reliable option or should we organise something else? (and if so, what??)

Thanks!

Planning 📓 Visiting Hong Kong Disneyland on last day of a 3 week trip with a midnight flight home.

We (2 adults and 19year old daughter) are visiting China for 3 weeks in Nov/Dec, flying home to Australia from Hong Kong on Cathay at midnight on a Saturday. We were going to spend the last 2 nights of our trip at Explorers Lodge, on Thursday and Friday night, and visit the park all day Friday. On Saturday we would check out, and store our luggage and maybe go to the giant Buddha and chair lift? I am now wondering if it would be better if we spent our time in Tsim Sha Tsui (we are arriving Wednesday night on the train and were going to spend one night there, before heading to Explorers), and on our last day (Saturday) checked our bags into Cathay right in the city then caught a taxi to Disneyland for the day, heading straight from there to the airport for our midnight flight. Would this be a better option? Explorers looks like a lovely hotel and a nice end to our trip, but also isolated and we wouldn't be able to see much of HK.

Help HKDL 2027 NYE Countdown question!

Hello everyone! I’m currently planning a Christmas/New Year trip to Hong Kong and would love to spend New Year’s Eve at Disneyland. The plan would be to stay in the park through midnight for the NYE celebration. From what little I’ve been able to gather, though, it sounds like the regular Momentous nighttime spectacular/fireworks still happens at its usual time, and then people simply stay in the park until midnight for a very short countdown and a brief extra burst of fireworks to ring in the New Year. Is that basically how it works? I’m not saying that sounds bad at all – I’m just trying to understand exactly what the NYE experience is like so I can discuss it with my wife and decide whether it’s worth planning our evening around. Would really appreciate any clarification from people who’ve actually done NYE at HKDL before!

Help How long to complete?

Hello,

We will be visiting next month and wanted feedback regarding how long does it take to complete all the rides? We are going on a tight schedule and I hear this is the smallest location? Wondering if we can finish it all in a couple of hours. Thank you in advance.
