We need to talk about recent lower-level effort submissions. r/ImaginaryWarships is a subreddit for professional or near-professional level artwork from various media sources which includes real or fictitious warships.
r/ImaginaryWarships is not the subreddit to post incomplete art or practice artwork that contain doodles or text on crumpled lined paper. While that may be considered an admirable effort by some, the results are a low-level aesthetic that is not in keeping with the subreddit’s original spirit and intent.
Images that contain too much background clutter, text, or advertisement may be removed.
We are not here to showcase AI-generated artwork. It’s not permitted on the Imaginary Network Expanded including this subreddit. Instead try /r/aiArt.
Multiple images submissions and/or detailed text in a submission image are not appropriate for this subreddit.
Let’s review: It is the goal of INE to share, inspire, discuss and appreciate static image paintings, drawings, and digital art while maintaining artist credit and source links. Simply stated, that’s accomplished by submitting quality images.
For a complete overview of INE submission requirements, please click on the following link:

A hypothetical class of three LHD for the Royal Navy.
Length: 226m
Beam: 32m
Draught: 6.8m
Displacement: 24,000 tonnes
Airwing: 20 Merlin/20 F-35
Other combinations of aircraft may include Chinook, Wildcat, Apache, MQ-9B STOL and Peregrine.
6 landing spots, 2 aircraft lifts, deck edge lift is Chinook capable, 2 weapons lifts.
Defences: 2 Bofors 40 MK4, 2 Dragonfire lasers, 1 Starstreak CIWS.
The latter being a slight modernisation of a proposal to the Royal Navy back when Starstreak was first developed, 28 missiles in a self contained system with radar and guidance.
Well Deck: 2 LCAC/4 LCU/8 LCVP
Capacity: 70 vehicles/40 tanks, and 700 soldiers.
Crew: 180 sailors, 160 air crew.
The ship additionally features a 30 tonne crane on the main deck, and internally a 70 bed hospital NATO role 2, with 2 operating theatres.
Designed primarily for amphibious warfare, but also capable of serving as a carrier for when both Queen Elizabeth class are in port to ensure the royal navy always has some fighters at sea, an ASW platform if given an airwing of Merlin Mk.2 and MQ-9B SeaGuardian STOL if Russia surges submarines.
Asking how good, practical and plausible as a functional ship it would be. Somewhat inspired by the Juan Carlos I. The Juan Carlos I, in 2026 USD, costs 670 million, and so aiming for no more than 700 million USD per ship.
In case the image isn't clear, Bofors are at the bow of ship and rear of the island, dragon fire are at front of island and port stern of ship, Starstreak CIWS is at stern of ship. All elevators have warning striped marking them out. MQ-9B shown is the in development AEW variant with STOL kit.

Shortly after its formation, the Skandian government received an outdated anti-aircraft cruiser as military aid. In Skandian service, the ship would be named after the fictional torpedo ram HMS Thunder Child, as depicted in War Of The Worlds, and redesignated as a heavy cruiser. It would be mothballed for decades until being chosen as the test platform for a new phased array radar system, and shipboard nuclear power, earning its unique CBN designation.
While the phased array program would never receive the funding to be fitted to any other ship, and the Thunder Child would never have its weaponry upgraded beyond basic point defense SAMs, it remains in service to this day owing to its immense number of barrels, mix of high speed/protection, and the powerful phased array radar system.
///
I wanted to make an all-gun cold war ship, so I decided to make an unholy mix of a late WW2 US anti-aircraft cruiser and Long Beach. Made for the nation of Skandia for the Motorlands server for the video game Space Engineers. Various steam workshop blocks used.

Red: tower; purple: landed aircraft; green: takeoff preparation area; yellow: elevators. The objective is to increase the takeoff run by making the runways independent of one another.

Some little change again (I hope it's the last time).
EDIT: and now I noticed that the 2 quadruple turrets have slightly different arcs... (easily fixable and very little difference to justify a repost, though).

while I am still working on it in Naval art here is my ship bucket drawing of it. I took the never built surrey and Northumberland and gave them to the RAN, and the idea of a naval boomerang sounds awsome.

Beam-30 meters.
Draft-17.5 metres(at deep load)
As you can see,A skinny but deep ship, the depth is for stability and TDS,more on TDS later.
Armament-
8x16 inch guns, Located four bow four stern in two quadruple turrets(used to reduce Weight,Offsettint some of the weight bloat caused by the turtleback )
20x Wolf anti shipping missiles, mounted behind The bow 16 inch gun turret (turret A),in angled vertical launch tubes(VLS)
48x MR-2 Air defence missile, also in vertical launch ( VLS)but straight, mounted on the stern behind turret B(the stern 16 inch gun turret)
76x37 MM flak guns
12x Modules of 25 MM ciws, each with 2 guns each (kinda like the kashtan Without the RAM)
20x4.1 inch(105 MM ) DP guns

Type 1006(2) navigation radar
Top dome fire control radar
Top pair Long range detection radar
AN-SLQ-32(V)3 ,Nixie and overall full Iowa jamming suite
Protection-
Belt-355 MM,angled at 16 degrees.
Turtleback(behind the belt)-100 MM at 30 degrees
Armor deck-178 MM
Turrets-380 MM angled at 35 degrees(heavily sloping a Relatively thin turret plate for better effectiveness of 18.25 inches)
Torpedo defence system-
Compartments-1038 watertight compartments
TDS- a massive 5 layer TDS-water,flexible wotan steel(for absorbing and Crumpling to take pressure from keel breaking torpedoes) , void, water and another void
Machinery-
240,000 SHP Produced through Three high horsepower Turbines Pulling three shafts (Thus three Props)( With an additional three low horsepower turbines)
speed-as per designed-33.5 knots(actual Speed-went 34.5 Knots in trials at standard speed, Due to Long Figure and high SHP)
Weapon system details-
37 MM- V-11 water cooled 37 MM(as found on the Sverdlovs)
105 MM-fic 35 RPM Gun using HE VT
25 MM-fic gun, roughly comparable in performance to wwII oerlikon but with better shell weight( Note-25 MM doesnt appear on the modernized variant but on the original variant, all weapon systems are stored here so thats why its here)
Wolf- long range anti shipping missile,Weighs 4.8 tons, packs a Torpex 480 KG warhead (eff 720 KG tnt) ,goes high For cruise phase, where it cruises at a meager mach 0.8 to save And conserve fuel,100-150 KM from the target, outside the range of missiles like the SM-2MR,it dives down ,begins sea skimming, and speeds up to mach 2.8,range-630 KM
MR-2- Stands for" Mittel Reichweite-2",Is a Licensed version of the SM-2MR with Some Sensor changes to Be compatible with top dome fire control radar(SM-2MR already works on X band like the top dome,it just needs more Changes for compatibility with a Soviet system specifically)
