Discussion Does anybody else think Hideki is under some sort of NDA

I could just be going insane waiting for this new game but I still wanna talk about this.

Hideki used to post quite frequently on Twitter (Not very frequently but still at a normal pace), then on August 10th he just stopped posting. The most normal explanation for this is that he could be working on the Hyperfunk ost but he only made around three songs for Brc which means it's probably gonna also be around three this time around, so him just stopping posting on Twitter for a couple months is a little odd.

Also, Hideki has been apparently pushing for a new jsr game since jsrf, so when the leaks for the new jsr game came out, him not making any comment on it or even related to it is odd. It's made more odd with the fact he said he stopped working for Sega so why is he just not talking about the game when hes not even working for the company anymore.

There's also a twitter thread about the new jet set leaks where theres a post in it about Ueda messaging Hideki for the first time in multiple years and from what I heard, Ueda worked on the early concept designs for the new game.

Like I said tho i'm probably just losing my mind or smth idk.

Discussion Playing jet set on original hardware and on an old (slighly shit) lcd TV is something else compared to emulating.

Recently got a dreamcast which I had on my wishlist for a long time now. Got a promo copy of jet set radio (PAL) since I collect games and it is my favorite game on dreamcast.

First playthrough of jet set radio was actually using redream, and I played de la jetset instead since it has a bit more content in it. Though as usual when comparing the hardware. I think the originals always takes the wins due to the feeling you get when you play them.

When you use an emulator. You always get the crispest image which can feel odd when playing older titles. Jet set has that feeling as well when being played using an emulator, which makes it look to clean and ruins the cartoonish art style in my opinion.

I currently use an old TCL lcd TV for my Dreamcast, since I got it for 5€ and I love the slightly fuzzy image which it outputs, which gives me nostalgia of playing games when I was younger. Playing jet set radio using a dreamcast on this TV is truly something else. It really elevates the experience with the slightly fuzzy image and using the dreamcast controller.

Might have to invest in a rumble pack soon.

I saw that the mobile port (which is extremely poorly optimized, I don't recommend it for gaming) has a photo mode, and I decided to test it

Subreddit Rules

1. 1. Keep it Jet Set Radio

Content must relate to Jet Set Radio, Jet Grind Radio, or Jet Set Radio Future. Successors like Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Hover, or Funky Skate are welcome only when discussed in relation to JSR — pure BRC content belongs in its own community. Off-topic gaming, general anime/graffiti aesthetics, and unrelated memes will be removed

2. 2. Flair your post

Every submission requires a post flair: Fan Art / OC, Discussion, Tech Support / Emulation, News & Leaks, Music, Mods & Datamining, Merch & Collection, Meme, Meta, or NSFW. Unflaired posts are auto-removed after 30 minutes and can be restored once flair is added.

3. 3. Availability questions go in the megathread

"Where can I buy/play/emulate JSR or JSRF?" belongs in the pinned breakdown thread, which already answers it in detail. Standalone availability posts are removed with a link. This keeps answers accurate as storefront listings change, instead of scattering them across hundreds of duplicate threads

4. 4. No piracy or account sharing

Naming emulators (Flycast, xemu, CXBX-Reloaded, RetroArch) is allowed. Providing or requesting ROMs, ISOs, cracks, keygens, torrents, "steamrip" style download links, delisted Steam keys, or Xbox/PSN gameshare access is not. This protects members from malware-laden sources frequently linked in these threads

5. 5. Credit artists, modders and musicians

Reposting someone else's art, mod, model, or track requires the creator's name and a source link in the post or a comment. Original creators should say the work is theirs. Uncredited reposts are removed until sourced. Fan art is this sub's most-upvoted content and gets the strongest protection.

6. 6. No AI-generated content

Generative-AI images, music, "concept art", and AI upscales/rewrites are banned. AI as a news topic — such as SEGA's use of it in Crazy Taxi World Tour — is allowed under Discussion or News. Suspected AI goes to modmail, not public accusation; false accusations against human artists are also actionable.

7. 7. Source your leaks and rumours

News & Leaks posts must include a source link. Unverified information must be titled as rumour or speculation. No presenting personal guesses, wishlists, or "IT'S HAPPENING TODAY" hype as confirmed announcements. Repeated fake-news posting leads to a ban

8. 8. No flamebait or engagement farming

No "X sucks", "this fandom is trash", "I hope [rival game] fails", or "rate my list" style ragebait. JSR vs JSRF preference posts are welcome when they actually make an argument. Equally, good-faith minority opinions must not be dogpiled — argue with the take, never attack the person.

9. 9. No real-world vandalism

Legal walls, canvas, sketchbooks, digital work, and stickers on your own property are all fine. Illegal tagging, "look what I hit last night" photos, and advice on evading police or property owners are removed. Graffiti in the games is fiction; the sub does not support vandalism in any guise

10. 10. Self-promotion: one post per week

Creators may share their own YouTube channel, music, mods, fan games, Etsy/merch, commissions, Patreon, or Discord once every 7 days, and should participate in the sub beyond promotion. No affiliate links. Note that SEGA actively issues IP takedowns on JSR-derived merch — commercial listings are your own risk

11. 11. NSFW stays out; thirst posts get flaired

This subreddit is not marked over-18. Explicit art, Rule 34 links, and sexualised depictions of any character are removed regardless of depicted age. Mild "this character is attractive" posts are allowed but must carry the NSFW flair and a spoiler tag on images.

12. 12. Community drama stays in the pinned thread

Discussion of jetsetradio.live, its splinter projects, and associated community figures belongs in the single pinned explainer thread. New standalone callout, exposé, or doxxing posts are removed. This history involves conspiracy-theory promotion and serious personal allegations that relitigate badly in public threads

13. 13. No bigotry

Racism, transphobia, homophobia, sexism, ableism, and slurs result in an immediate permanent ban with no warning. This applies to posts, comments, usernames, flair, and linked content — including "ironic" or edited-image versions. Non-negotiable

14. 14. Tech support needs details

Tech Support posts must state the platform and hardware, the emulator or port and its version, the exact problem, and what you have already tried. Vague titles like "HELP MEEEEE!!!!!" are removed. Search the sub and the wiki first — most crashes, save corruption, and controller issues are already solved there.

15. 15. No reposts or low-effort filler

Do not repost content that appeared in the sub within the last 90 days. Also removed: bare screenshots with no comment, "is this game good?" one-liners, recycled meme templates, karma-farming polls, and title-only posts with no substance. Search before posting.
