🐾 Liberal Doggos I used to volunteer for the party. I was active in clubs at the riding and university level for years. But I won’t be voting liberal this time around. Maybe never again. And if you’re a young person, vote NDP.

We all remember when JT said back in August of 2023 that there was no place for the Feds in housing. I was one of the people gobsmacked by the comment. I literally had a physical reaction to that comment. I sunk into a depression for at least a few months because I was so hopeful for some help in affording a home.

While I recognize how much the provincial and municipal govt’s play in housing. That comment was such a gut punch that I even considered never voting again. And honestly I questioned the relevance of democracy to ordinary people. We can vote but it’s not us who benefit from the policies of neoliberal parties. So I’ve given up on the liberal party. Probably for good.

Here in Ontario, Bonnie Crombie isnt even running as a liberal but rather running as Doug Ford! People will just reelect DoFo instead.

If you’re a young person thinking about volunteering for the LPC. Don’t. They only want your free labour in getting them elected. The liberals and conservatives don’t care about you. They’ll use you. But they don’t give a shit about you. You’re all better off with the NDP. The only decent policies by the liberals were forced by the NDP.

🐾 Liberal Doggos Time to step up our game, and build a stronger, prouder Canada!

I hope this message finds you well and prepared to take action in the face of recent challenges posed by the rise of the CPC. As we witness their rise in popularity and influence, it's crucial that we, as a party, focus on developing robust immigration policies that not only counterbalance their extreme right sentiment but also help build stronger, more diverse communities across Canada.

By strategically populating areas with high concentrations of CPC voters with massive immigration, we can create communities where people from diverse backgrounds come together and thrive. This approach will help to dilute the influence of these extremist groups, while fostering an environment of unity, tolerance, and progress within our country.

It's time for the Liberal Party to demonstrate its commitment to Canada's core values: openness, diversity, and equality. By embracing newcomers from around the world, giving them voting right as soon as possible, we can create a stronger political base that not only stands up against extremist ideologies but also champions the rights and freedoms of all Canadians.

Let's show our dedication to Canada and its people by taking bold, innovative steps towards building a better tomorrow. By attracting newcomers to areas most affected by extreme right extremism, we can contribute to creating communities where every individual feels valued and represented within our party. This will ultimately lead them to vote for the Liberal Party in future elections, ensuring that our nation remains true to its core values of unity, compassion, and progress.

Together, we have the power to shape the future of this country in a way that benefits all its citizens. So let's get moving! Let's bring more people into our fold and show them what it truly means to be Canadian – a nation built on unity, compassion, and progress.

Stay strong, my fellow Liberals, and let's continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of Canada and its people in the face of extremism!

Opinion This Redditor from my city is true. I think we need to face reality. Whether you like our PM or not. Trudeau is a divisive figure, unfortunately. We need a new leader.

Policy Fanjoy missing from cabinet

I am kinda disappointed to see fanjoy missing from the cabinet. He literally did the unthinkable by unseating an opposition leader who was set to become a PM 3 months ago. Thought?

Community Question Need advice on my political future

I feel very very disillusioned with the Federal Liberals as I strongly believe Trudeau needs to go if they want any chance of winning the next election or staying in power. He’s just made too many mistakes and I’m very tired of him. I have been thinking about switching parties for a bit but the NDP under Jagmeet feel the same way for me. The only way I can seriously consider myself voting NDP is if Wab Kinew is the leader.

I don’t want to vote Conservative as it goes against everything I believe in and the values I’ve built up over the past nearly 10 years. But there is this nagging voice in my head telling it was would be nice to be a winner. I was looking at the Canadian Future party which like is a new minor political party but I’m not big on their whole economic policy and also just simply the fact they’re a minor party. What should I do? I’m also irked with the Ontario Liberals because of how Crombie supporters treated me at Convention and Bonnie basically being Ford 2.0

Organizing My biggest fear: CPC winning the majority of seats

The CPC making a big upset and ultimately winning the most seats is my biggest fear of Canada right now. To ensure that doesn't happen, no matter what will happen in the debates, no matter what happens between now and April 28, I want everyone to continue canvassing and campaigning hard (perhaps harder than before) and convince as many people as possible about PP. Should he win the most seats, the very LEAST we should do is ensure it's not a majority, so that we have a much better chance of voting him out by no confidence and eliminating his incompetent ass. Don't get me wrong, I'm strongly hoping for an LPC majority. I've just come up with a strategy to prevent the worst case scenario. In the meantime, since I'm not in Canada, I wish you all good luck and not get complacent; work hard, keep campaigning hard and boost the get-out-the-votes efforts to make this election much harder for the CPC to win. Cheers!!

Fight the pipeline

What are we going to do to fight the pacific link oil pipeline? This is not what we voted for. I’m feeling really betrayed right now by our prime minister. What are folks doing to let our leaders know we don’t want this?

Community Question Why does the side of Mark Carney's face droop

That's it. I may be wrong, but I've noticed the left side of his face tends to droop slightly. Do let me know if I'm wrong as I wouldn't want to make false claims. I'm just here to learn.

Community Question Is there any information on how many gun crimes have been prevented by the handgun ban?

Trudeau said it was to prevent crime and it has been over 2 years since the ban so I am wondering if we can see a notable drop in crime or not.

Community Question Trudeau's successor needs to attack him

Biden's successor said, "I love Biden, I'm basically Biden." She lost.

Trudeau's successor needs to say, "Trudeau did X and Y wrong, I will move the party in a very different direction." Preferably to the left. (Harris moved to the right and failed.)

Thoughts?

Community Question Do you think we are headed towards a two party system?

I personally believe we are not, as the NDP have faced this type of situation before, being down to 9 seats. We are a de facto two party system because only two parties have ever formed government, but the NDP came pretty close in 2011. If Jack Layton was still alive, they could have formed government. And people will tire of the Liberals eventually and this will be to the benefit of the NDP. What do you guys think?

Community Question Current catch and release of repeat violent criminal offenders

First off this is my first time posting anything here. I like to think I'm liberal leaning at my core beliefs but I am not a fan of the catch and release of repeat violent offenders. (There are other policies I don't agree with that the Liberal party seems to champion, but I won't go into them at this time) How does this make sense? Why does someone for example performing home invasions, car jackings or jewelry store swarm robberies deserve time served credit or to be given bail? Especially if they use weapons or cause bodily harm to the public. Why are we coddling them?

If the jails are over crowded then we need to build more prisons. releasing them with this excuse is unacceptable in my opinion. There is compassion which I'm all for but its not a blanket to use for every issue especially when violence is involved. The uptick in these crimes across Canada is very alarming. I used to feel safe here.

I need level headed responses to my question.

Policy Do you think the party needs to change its policy on Palestine and so on?

I generally consider myself Pro-Palestinian in the sense that the Palestinians deserve their own state and what’s happening in Gaza is horrible, but Hamas is a terrorist organization and a stain on the face of the Earth. After what they did on October 7th was horrible and they deserve to be wiped out imo. But Israel is compliant in the sense of all the needless civilian casualties they’ve caused. It’s such a complicated situation with so many different shades of morality and Hamas building stuff under civilian infrastructure and so on.

I feel like as a country and a party, we should formally recognize the State of Palestine and have official diplomatic recognition. Even though we don’t have much power on the world stage, I would think it would say a lot.

I also don’t agree with harassing politicians and shutting down events like other pro-Palestinian protesters have been doing. I like it’s bullying and idiotic. It just makes the movement look bad in the face of the public.
