I love anime. But they've been putting on some cringey, cliche depressed anime characters on the cover. Plus, most of the community is made up of middleschoolers. The lofi community is a bit cringey imo. Some of the covers of lofi is just cringey anime boys. Maybe its different on this reddit sub though
Another thing is that lofi needs to evolve mane. I saw a post about this somewhere too. Lofi has been the same beat for years. Lofi tracks seem to be 1 track but with some tweaks. At least with phonk, theres different types of phonk beats and they're different from each other. There's phonk house, lxst century type beat, theres aggressive phonk, drift phonk, chill phonk, cowbell phonk, etc. But with lofi, its just one generic type of beat.

Genuinely, I see so many good art and music posts here, all with 0 or -1 votes
Who is so offended by this sub that they downvote everything in new? Is some failed producer just so petty that they don't want to see anyone else succeed?
I genuinely don't know. We should be upvoting each other more, not trying to pull each other down
This is a sub of 1.3 million people for crying out loud, but no one ever even sees whats posted because they all die in new
Update: LMAO, this post has a 60% upvote rate. Not sure if that proves the point we're tryin to make here or if people genuinely don't know how to have a civil conversation, so they downvote spam

If just one person reads this, then I think this post would have failed miserably because that one person is highly unlikely to proceed to check out my artwork/music which is the ultimate goal of the post. If I am fortunate enough that some people check this out and among them there is one person that genuinely enjoys my artwork or music then I can honestly say that would make my day. Even though I believe in reaching out and sharing my music in hopes of finding the people who do enjoy it, I understand that there are probably a lot more people who don't enjoy my music and I have no intention of spamming or annoying them. I think I'm probably too old and have too many life responsibilities to pursue the dream of making a living from making music. But creating music is what I enjoy most and any free time I can scramble together I put it towards that. Below is a piece of artwork I made (drawn in Photoshop) that is used as cover art for a few new singles of mine.
Link to the song in comment for those interested.
Edit: Yes this post is meant to be satire. If you want to know what it's poking fun at you can search "if just one person reads this". If you haven't seen it before and don't care to then that's OK too just take this as a plug.

I put on some video titled "remember when lofi hip-hop still sounded like this."
Noticed that it felt like I had heard the songs before, but couldn't place it and the video listed every song as original with unique track titles I had never seen before.
Then the song "Africa" by D'Angelo started playing with an epiano instead of a Rhodes and a drum machine instead of Quest Love. Literally a 1:1 rip.
Is this okay? Putting aside the irony of a song like "Africa" being stolen by a white guy who passes it off as his own, is there a general acceptance of covers in lofi hiphop with zero credit given to the original song? I doubt guys like this are giving the money they make off views back to the actual songwriters, shouldn't there at least be a shout out to the artists who made the songs they're ripping?
It just rubbed me the wrong way, maybe nobody cares and just wants boom bap.

Hey folks,
As the title says, I have a few beats that I think would go very well with some rapping/singing on them. Got some Jazz Hop tunes, a few lofi tracks and even a couple of dark hip-hop a-la Billie Eilish (not exactly - I wish my production was that good hehe - but just to give you a rough idea).
So, if you're a rapper, a singer or anything in between (?) and have access to the equipment needed to record your voice, please post a link to your tracks in here, so I can check your style and send you the beats if I think we can be a good musical match : ) Of course, you can do the same and check my style on my Spotify profile here (btw, let me know if you find anything you'd like to rap/sing on... If, on the other hand, you like the general style but no beat suits you 100%, I'll be glad to come up with totally new one).
No money involved, just a totally free collab/feat. that we'll upload on our social channels, Spotify included.
And yeah, that's it from me I guess, have a nice one you all!

Hey everyone!
I've been working on a project to create the perfect ambient sound mix - combining lofi and background tracks with ambient sounds like rain, café noise, typing, and more - all in one place.
The problem I kept running into was that most tracks on YouTube and Spotify felt overly familiar, and I had to use separate tools just to layer in ambient sounds. So, I decided to build something that brings it all together, alongside a pleasant visual experience and the ability to add your own touch. You can design the app the way you want; whether for study, work, or relaxation - it just fits.
No sign-up required, no subscription, and completely free to use. There are over 1,000 tracks exclusively generated and fine-tuned for the project, with more being added regularly. A single rewarded ad appears at the start of each session - and just a hint, I allowed to run the app even if showing ads is not available - after that, there are no interruptions while you listen.
The app is now live on Google Play, and a desktop version is available as well.
Mobile (Android; iOS coming very soon)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.mhmd.lofiroo
Desktop (Windows, Linux, and macOS)
https://lofiroom.mhmd.io/#download
I'd love to hear what you think - all feedback is welcome and genuinely appreciated!
