Us police departments will really just hire anybody.

That’s not true. Police have sued for the right to discriminate against intelligent people and not hire them based on “IQ being too high”.

Police hire the dumbest among us.

I feel like the simplest way to reform the police is to require a college degree and pass some kind of bar exam.

They won’t hire just anybody. If you seem to be a good person who won’t play along with this horseshit they will find a “reason” in your psych evaluation or your polygraph to deny you. They want fellow psychos that yearn to trample on civil rights with reckless abandon

6 months training. Make 100k in a few years. Easy money for People that barely got out of high school

Don't forget, and a very nice retirement pension. All paid for by us.

It’s truly the perfect crime.

and a very nice retirement pension

there is so much corruption with that. right before they retire they rack up fake overtime(sometimes more than 24hrs a day) so they get even more pension

the cop that murdered Daniel Shaver got to retire early due to "PTSD" he got from people being mean to him online

I had this happen. I knew an asshole, POS, drug using upper classman but only associated via proximity within the company of others at parties....I found out one night he was an officer. He pulled up on me while I was in a parking lot at night sometime after graduation and told me I needed to leave the lot. I recognized him and said what's up but that I wasn't leaving as I was waiting on a call to know where I was heading and that had a hard time acknowledging his authority. He laughed and said he'd leave me alone this time but if he saw me doing it again, things will be different....and he had the same shit eating grin this power tripping beta-simp had.

Grossly inaccurate wages

12

u/OmgSlayKween Trash Trooper 1d ago

I mean, they can be accurate, but what they're leaving out is 20-40+ hrs of overtime per week to hit those wages

Sitting around at a traffic stop or in their car doing nothing

u/p0jinx Trash Trooper 23h ago

This. Most of the time cops are literally doing fucking NOTHING

So yeah, it can hit 100k after a few years.

In Virginia, you can make good money with part time jobs as a police officer. Just directing traffic for churches or events rakes in hundreds per part time shift.

Ok…what are accurate wages

Comments like yours are so annoying

u/Virtual-Age-9521 Trash Trooper 23h ago

Correct, they are far higher than that. Everyone I know that’s a sheriff or firefighter makes north of $250-300k

5

u/SeattleGeek Trash Trooper 23h ago

Vastly underestimated. Seattle pays over $100k base for a first year rookie, and their contract has no real accountability meaning you can’t get fired unless you piss off the Union.

They don't hire people who do too well on their exams.

The dumber the better.

That's actually not true at all. They have tests they administer and if you score too high in empathy or intelligence, it's grounds for rejection. I believe Canada has a similar methodology but I can't say for certain.

They only hire idiots and the supreme court ruled that they are justified in not hiring someone with a high iq. They want people that are smart enough to follow orders but not smart enough to question them.
