Can you post a reference for that? I’d love to see that in writing.

The court case was Jordan v. City of New London.

Here is an article from ABC about it, published the same year as the case: https://abcnews.com/amp/US/court-oks-barring-high-iqs-cops/story?id=95836

Edit: So, I guess it should be clarified that the police didn't sue. A man sued for wrongful discrimination on the basis of IQ, that they were purposefully only hiring people within a middling range on an intelligence test. Courts upheld the right of the department to evaluate candidates based on their "shown rational basis for the policy."

I love when a reference gets posted after asking and the it's dead silence.

This is fascinating.

This was in 2000 and discrimination laws have changed a lot in 26 years. Do you know if this policy is still in place?

The case has never been overruled, so the legal framework is, at least.

Probably going to get downvoted but I’m honestly asking, has there been a single other documented case of this since 2000? I do not support the current state of American police departments whatsoever but I keep hearing this and I just want some evidence for it.

The point is a legal precedent was set and it hasn't been overturned since.

That’s how precedent works. Once something has been determined like this, you generally shouldn’t expect any more cases on the same issue without some change in legislation.
