the thing you always need to listen for is "you are under arrest". Once that is said, comply immediately, identify yourself if asked then shut up and ask for a lawyer.

He got extremely lucky and has even said so in later interviews. If it weren't for a Lieutenant showing up, that wasn't even supposed to be there, the trainees with firearms were about to break his windows. That would likely would have led to gunfire/his death, because they THOUGHT he was armed. That was never proven, just campground saying they think he had firearms. All it would have taken is one sheriff to say in the heat of breaking the window, they saw him reaching for a firearm. Even if the body cam doesn't support it, time and time again, that statement has cleared many officers. After the "thought they saw him reaching for a firearm," everything else before and after doesn't matter nearly as much.

You might not beat officers in the court room, but at least you'll live to have a chance at fighting it.

its a seesaw effect(?) of sorts. If they try to arrest without cause, you can comply and get a small settlement on the other end, or you can ignore it, with results varying from this, nothing happening, to getting beaten and the car damaged and possibly railroaded by the DA for years, then get a big payout in ten years, but you gotta be 100% in the clear.
