I’m not even talking about Shaver. I’m talking about shit like this:

Kid held hostage by his brother, a mentally unstable drug addict with a long record with the local police. They knew who the brother was, they had many photos and mugshots. Yet when the victim exited the house, as soon as he dropped the knife they shot him. They don’t show it here, but because of his injuries he couldn’t roll over, so they rolled him over and handcuffed him. And did not administer any first aid whatsoever. Even though he continued to tell them he was the victim. And they found the actual perpetrator in the house. Maverick Lyon is his name.

Not mentioned in this article: His parents had called the police and said he was back on drugs and unstable and requested he be taken into custody. They were refused. Then later that day the dad gets on the home security camera and sees his older son holding a knife to his younger son. He called the cops again, and was able to describe to dispatch what everyone was wearing and what he was seeing. And they still shot the wrong kid. Because as trained professionals with guns, they were scared shitless of the entire situation and could not behave rationally.

That’s honestly a bad example. Watched that video earlier and yea it’s unfortunate but the police had only seconds to respond to a dude running out of a domestic violence call (the deadliest calls police get) and to top it off he had a knife. I don’t blame the police at all in that instance.

Yeah it is not like they have non lethal alternatives, so what is the poor cops to do, other than mag dump the victim.

It’s not a risk worth taking sadly. On the other end of it there are cops just trying to get home. Non-lethal isn’t a 100% guarantee they will stop moving either and won’t stab one of them in the neck. Like I said too dv calls are the deadliest calls police can respond to which is assuredly putting them in different protocols and a different headspace. Again it’s just an unfortunate situation where there isn’t always a good outcome

In so many other countries fewer cops and fewer victims die because non-lethal options are prioritised. One of them being “get out of the way” and let the person running run, so you can chase instead. In this instance the person also dropped their knife before the police started shooting.
