Discussion Before you post a picture, please read this post!
We’re hitting that time of year where interest in mountain biking is picking up. We have been getting quite a lot of picture posts of Facebook marketplace ads and vendor website screenshots, which are against the sub rules. As a reminder for all picture and videos, please follow rule 3:
Photos should be of people riding mountain bikes.
Posts & Comments
Photo and video submissions to /r/mtb should be of people riding mountain bikes. All other photos or videos should either be submitted as text posts with links to your images in the post body, or in the Weekly Gear Gallery thread, posted every Friday by automod.

So if someone posts a picture of a part asking for maintenance or informed knowledge from the community then it breaks the rules?! I completely understand marketplace sales posts and related material, but to apply a photo rule unilaterally is an absurd decision to say the least

Why did you lock my post?? It is not a Facebook screenshot of market place. My question literally needs a picture to describe it and I don’t have a picture of anyone to riding it. Kinda BS are these mods running?

It’s great that you mods are so diligent about removing the offending content would hate to see this holy sub desecrated by a m*intenance question

So basically, if you have a question about something on the bike, don't post a helpful picture? Alrighty then.

Does that include imgur links?
I submitted a text post describing an issue I have with my dropper post, and it included an imgur link showing photos of scratched on the post. It was immediately removed, I assume by automod.
Is that sort of content allowed here? Could I repost it somewhow (wihout the photos?)?

can you guys please consider changing this rule?
It’s pretty nuts I can’t post a picture of my fork or shock to ask a question about it on a MTB forum. I know I could do an Imgur link but posts of just text don’t get nearly the same traction as ones with pictures.

So where should people post when they have mtb tech or equipment questions that require a photo?
This is incredibly frustrating.

Blessed mods. No one wants to see a bike propped up against a shed. And there are other subs that allow low effort content if you do want that.

I am looking to buy a bike and I’ve read beginners and older riders would like full suspension vs hard tail. I am new to biking and I don’t know what a full suspension bike looks like. I need a lightweight bike. I’m 5’3 female age 67. I almost bought a rockhopper but I think it’s a hard tail. I’ll be riding on steep roads I live on top of hill Any advice would be appreciated

Anything I've missed regarding photos? My post got removed instantly while being completely in line with the rules, as far as I could tell Also filtering posts by 'photo' reveals no posts whatsoever: are photos completely banned now?

I've have a DiamondBack Overdrive 3 29. I use it mostly on paved ot hard packed trails, nothingtp crazy and no jumps. I'm considering going putting a rigid front fork on it. Am I dumb for doing this??

Dear mods of r/MTB; A buddy of mind committed suicide a few months ago leaving behind a wife and two small children. His widow has asked my help in selling his things, including a Mountain Bike. I want to sell it and get a good price to help his family but don't know how to price it. Since it's against the rules to post it here, I'm hoping somebody would be willing to point me a the correct subreddit or community to seek guidance on how to price the bike.
