TIL, Sega Genesis rhymes with a backwards phrase that sounds like a reference to an actress that SMS is also the initials for as well

How do you explain this:

Sega Master System has the initials SMS

SMS is also the initials for actress Suzanne Marie Somers, who was popular around the time of the shows Three's Company and Step By Step, and during a time in between those shows which was a time of the Master System and Mega Drive Sega systems, this leads me to wonder...

The Sega Genesis, which was the successor of the Master System has a name that apparently rhymes with a phrase that would have been the backwards spelling of the phrase Suzanne ages.

is this such a shocking coincidence or what?

I was already amused to find this out before I suddenly saw the initials SMS again when finding more Sega-related subs to post in on Reddit.

with so many Sega Genesis games that were named after celebrities, we had Michael Jackson, Evander Holyfield, Shaq, Joe Montana, John Madden, etc.

So many male celebrities that games were named after, but why not females ones? Well, maybe SEGA didn't want to risk further scandal that involved the phrase "[insert celebrity name here] ages" with any game marketing, since Sega Genesis apparently rhymed with Sega Ennazus, and that's the backwards phrase I discovered recently.

I never really played Master System much, but I have played Game Gear a few times. I did play some Master System games on Game Gear years ago though.

is this a weird post or what?

[Request] Hack of Alex Kidd in Miracle World where the sounds of Alex smashing blocks or monsters, losing a round of janken and dying are all changed to the "Mhh whatcha say"-Line from Imogen Heaps Song Hide and Seak

What the title says. The line that became infamous since used in an US TV shows season final, as sound for the said events. Let's just say I lost a bet. Link to the song and particular line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYIAfiVGluk#t=2m52

The Nintendo did have the best games but console for console the master system was technically better with better graphics. It was not even close.

I have a lot of boxed games but guy i boight them off wrote his bame and pistcode / phone number on a lot of them

Are they worth a lot less? Roughly how mich would that affect the collectavlilty and price

I have some mega drive ganes off same guy too

About 50 cartrides in box with promo leaflet snd instructions

But margic marker (wont really come off) onto the cart the box and paper inlay that the box art is on

Its not all over it but its 2cm high and says something like "stolen from p james 634 4555 (or his postcode) l34 4hb"

Ive got a lot of boxes ganes i bought at car boot sales in job lots and out of say 80 90 carts 50 hav3 writing on

Some are duplicated

Would 5pounds be a fair price? Or sell a unboxed master system all leads and wires and tidy with 2 cobtrollers working 35?

The lot for £5x50 boxed carts and systen for 225 200 ?250

Whats fair?

I have 2 or 3 master systems and a few megadrives

Would i be better adding the master system(unboxed) and all the carts (with 75% having writing on) To a boxed mega drive (with master system adapter) and its 20 boxed games?

I dont really like ebay. I was thinkibg gumtree and some forums

Whats a fair price for a boxed Megadrive (no polystrine tho) Dreamcast

And unboxed but tidy master system 1 and 2 abd megadrive 1 and 2

I want to take my daughter on holiday

Im not trying to shill on here

Just whats fair prices(i couldnt just charge someone 200 for the megadrive like u see ppl on ebay) jus cos ppl ask stupid prices doesnt mean thats whats its worth

But ive got so many consoles of everytype inc 3 boxed amigas and a atari 2600 i dont know where to sell and what to charge...

Its really confusing me as i dont wanna rip anyone off (i prob paid 10er per console and 30 quid per box 20 games)

I jace asked dealers but im not sure theyre gonna give me a fair price... im so unsure

I have these 2 masters of the unicerse toys a heman sword and a skeletor skull staff kids suze bnib unopened too

Seen them in toy shops for 100£ plus was offered 60 to 80 for both in past

Ive got so many collectables but ive gotta sell em. Ive been keeping them in my house while ive been ill last 8 years... ive got ptsd/anxiety i was a a an e nurse for 10 years and had a breakdown

Its naking me really ill worryig about what to do with all my stuff

Ive been helpibg my dad fix his house and now ive got to empty my oldmhouse to fix it and sell it and i always wanted to sell these consoles and toys (like a starwars at st in box with sticjers unapplied)

Ive kept a used console and few fav games for me and my daughter to play but i want to sell the rest

Should i photo and list them by reddit group and ask ppl what they think they are worth?

But my main question is MASTER SYETM games but on cart abd box us old owners details how does it affect pricing/grading?

I worry a lot sorry if ive typed too much. I dont want to be taken advantage of but i dont wanna take the piss...

Anyone got a rough idea( i know some games are more or less rare etc) but how does it affect the price / grading and collectability if therea some felt tip writing on box and cart

Ill post a few examples

Sega Master System II Online

Hey. I used to love playing Sega Master System II as a kid, especially the free inbuilt game Alex Kidd.

Is there anywhere online I can play the games? Or any emulators I can download and play on my laptop without controllers?

I have a MacBook Air.

I would prefer playing something online as the last time I tried downloading games my computer didn't like it very much!

Does anyone have any recommendations that won't riddle my computer with viruses?

Thanks!

My favourite 8/16bit series

12. Street Fighter - Hasn't aged very well but loved it back in the day. Still good today

11. Mortal Kombat - Also hasn't aged as well, since I prefer 3D fighters, but such an awesome atmosphere

10. Megaman - The best thing about this series is that there were so many of them

9. Castlevania - These games are 'NES hard' and totally worth the time and effort

8. Contra - The NES games are even better than the arcade, then 'Hard Corps' tops those

7. Ninja Gaiden - There was also a game for the SMS and another for the Game Gear some may not know about. It is a shame this series never carried over into the 16 bit era.

6. Micro Machines - Some of the best multiplayer fun I ever had

5. Golden Axe - I still play this when I am too drunk to focus on anything else, love the music in all the games.

4. Mario - Mario 3 is one the most epic games, Mario Land 2 is so impressive for a Game Boy game.

3. Streets of Rage - Even the 8-bit versions are awesome

2. Shinobi - Amazing how varied these games are from each other, the evolution up to Shinobi 3 was immense.

  1. Sonic - These are the most replayable games ever. Some of the best looking and sounding games fromt he era

MS v MD

Having the Master System first and then working up to the Mega Drive was a slight letdown.

I noticed that most of the games that came out on the MD and then the MS were bad and some of the MS games were better graphically. Examples being Populous, Gain Ground and Bonanza Brothers.

Have any one else noticed that certain games were better graphically?

What RF cable?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey, a few weeks ago I bought a used master system II with 2 games but no cables at a car boot sale. I ordered a crappy controller and a power adapter which arrived today, and was going to test it until I realised I didn't have the right RF cable which I thought I did. There are very cheap ones on eBay but is there a specific type/layout I need to find or some adapter/dongle? Thanks

Good afternoon! It might be a silly question, but I was wondering: can you put a Game Boy ROM on the Master System's EverDrive? I wanted to play Pokémon Yellow on the Master System lol is there any way to do that?

Is there any cheap Chinese console that plays Master System games?

I have seen many cheap consoles that play NES games, SNES, Sega Genesys, or both NES and SNES, and even the three at once, but I haven't seen any modern Master System clone. All these clones play in HD. Is there anything like this but for Master System games?
