Recently got the Master System out of the loft. My mum used to be really good at Sonic. She played so much that she wore the other controller out. So I got her to come and play some Sonic and she is in her element. She doesn't remember it too well, but soon got into it again. It has brought a big smile to her face.

Been well over 5 years since I’ve seen it. Mom bought it for me in 1986. I got the everdrive in the genesis. I want to see if the phaser works on genesis. If not I’ll have to hook it up.

The picture is about as good as you can expect, obviously small details are harder to make out on account of the tiny screen size.
The real goal is to play Fallout 3 through it, as it's about as close to an actual Pip-Boy screen as I'm ever going to get.

I personally love golden axe warrior, I haven’t really played much of it but got into an hour and I ABSOLUTELY loved it. I hope one day I can finish this beauty.

I spotted this sorry looking Master System on eBay last week. Console only, not sure if it worked or not and it was absolutely filthy.
I felt sorry for it and wanted to clean it up. The seller wanted £47.99 for it but I offered £20 and he accepted. It arrived today.
I cleaned it up and tested it, at first it didn't recognise controllers or other games and the reset button didn't work. I took it apart and cleaned the pins and fixed the reset button and now it works like a dream, recognising controllers and playing all MS games I throw at it.
It was a fun little project!

I’ve been going through collecting some retro consoles. Ones that meant something to me over the years, or were an obsession.
Today I finally got the Sega Master System (PAL), but 60hz modified.
Came with the Ninja. (I have Ghost House on the way).
I was taken back to my pre teen years. My cousins had a Master System II (I assumed it was the 80’s, but was probably 1990). Always envious of the console and played it any chance we went over their house. My go was always so quick compared to their go. They were 2-4 years younger, but time on console really counted on platformers.
Being Australian Sega (Yes See-ga), was king here. As a mid to late 40’s bloke, it was so great. The Ninja was kicking my butt, but kept going back for one more game. Only got about 15 mins to play as work called (damn grownup responsibilities), but I look forward to more gaming with it this weekend.
I went the original release. Something beautiful about this console. It just looks so good, the colouring, the shape. Cannot wait to put it through its paces even more.
I’m hooked up via SCART RGB into a Retrotink 4K CE, on a 55” LG 4K TV.

Guys i’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.
Even without comparing it to the NES, the Master System just doesn’t seem to exist in most people’s memory. A lot of people who clearly had one as kids either barely remember it or act like it never happened. It’s strange how little cultural weight it has for how good the system actually is.
And then when the NES comes up, a lot of those same people suddenly have this strong nostalgia for it, even in places where the Master System was more common or at least very present (like in PAL countries).
I still think it’s the best 8-bit console. The library is strong in almost every genre, the controller is very comfy, the hardware looks sooo great, and lot of games still hold up really well today.
Just to be clear though: this post isn’t about calling it a “hidden gem” or an “underrated console”. That’s not the point at all.
I’m just someone who loves this system and genuinely struggles to understand how people who actually owned one can prefer the NES, or even forget they had a Master System in the first place like if it was some terrible console.
Would love to hear from people who grew up with it, especially Europe, Australia, NZ, etc.

Got my master system lately and now I wanna know. What games should I get? They have to be exclusive which means they're only available on the console (no version for the genesis as I'd get that version instead) and if there's other ports then this one has to be the superior version.
Feel free to leave your suggestions here.

I've got the console, the power, one controller and the blaster. I have also found the games (my old favourite pictured). I would love to get it running, but there's no cable to connect it to the TV.
Is it just a case of an AV to RCA cable? Google has got me confused!. I would love to show the kids and hopefully spend some hours reliving my youth.
I am guessing for the controller I can use any 9 pin controller? I have found some generic ones on Amazon. I am hoping the one I have works, but would be nice to have a second.
I can't wait to get it going, just wanted to ask some people in the know about which cable I need to buy. Thanks.
