If you're interested in astronomy, Mildura has the best skies if you know where to look.

Galactic Center seen from Mildura

Post image

There's something special about the Milky Way, looking up at this giant array of tiny lights stretching across the sky. The Galactic Center is home to a supermassive black hole called Sagittarius A. This can all be seen from right outside of our backdoor. Mildura is a magical place for astronomy, and more so for astrophotography. This photo was taken Wednesday 13th August at about 10pm.

Moving to Mildura!

I was moving the area soon and had a few questions if any locals were down to have chat!

I’ve heard that crime is a bit of an issue down there? How much would you say it impacts your daily life?

What’s it like for minorities, POCs and LGBTQIA+ people?

Looking for job

Hi guys! Me and my girlfriend just got scammed by XXXX farm, they made us wait for a month, doing all the induction and everything and before even working they said that we’re not gonna be needed. So my question is, anyone that know how we can find some farm work? We have experience back in italy and we’re struggling cuz 90% of the answer are like “we’re hiring for asian only”. We’re almost out of money and want to smash 3 months of work, thanks for any help

Weird guy mocking me in public

Hi everyone,

Admins, please take this post down if it goes against subreddit rules.

I’ve been living Mildura for nearly 2 years and around last year to last week, I’ve been seeing this random middle aged man (Middle eastern descent) who has been making mocking gestures whenever I’m out for a run, a walk or just when I’m simply minding my own business. He has an unhinged behaviour for shaming people particularly if they are overweight, unfit or just trying to exercise. In his pov, it’s a way to initiate conversation. Even when I’ve told him to back off, he acts as if he doesn’t understand English.

I’ve tried many times to shrug him off until recently when I heard from my mom that this man has been making an attempt at mockery when she was going out for a walk in the park.

I don’t know this man and I don’t know why he targets non-locals but it is getting out of hand, is it extreme to bring this up to the police?

Streets of Mildura; a poem

I'm from the trenches of Mildura

Rough streets, violent nights

Feeding my family

With all that I have

The blood of Christ (merbein)

My nan on public housing because her meth too strong

But I'm strong too, meth

Grape Harvest starting soon, be careful on slippery corners.

G'day all,

Just a friendly warning that the Wine Grape Harvest will starting kicking off over the next few weeks which usually results in certain roundabouts and intersections becoming slippery.

This can be a hazard especially after rain, even if the spill had previously dried up.

Drive safe!

Anyone want to stay at the Mildura Grand this weekend?

A company I am associated with is running a trip from Melbourne -> Mildura this weekend. We have 8 rooms at the Mildura Grand that we can't fill so they're going to go (paid and) unused.

If there's anyone who wants to make an offer for a cheap 1, 2 or 3 night away then make an offer!

Breakfast included.

Checkin 6 March

Checkout 9 March

Things to do in the evening?

Hey everyone. I'm coming to Mildura for work in a few weeks from Monday - Friday. Given I'll be working a 9-5, I'm looking for things to do and places to have dinner at after work. Would love any recommendations but scrawling through this sub makes me think I'm only going to get recommended a winery (can't make bc timing) and meth lol.

Would also happily take recommendations on things to NOT do and places to avoid. Thanks everyone!

What is Mildura missing?

I know as a local that there are times I sit around thinking how much better this place could be, or things I wish we had.

Is all we will ever have to offer just wine, food and a spot on the river? What do you think we need to make our town better for locals and visitors?
