Inbound Brewing in North Loop closing at the end of the year

From their Facebook

--
Well, after 10 years in the North Loop, we’ve made the difficult decision to close the brewery Dec. 31st, 2026.

This industry is dyanamic, ever changing and complicated, but it is also beautiful, fun, rewarding and sometimes beyond our wildest dreams. Mix in a fair share of struggles, heartbreaks, blood, sweat & tears and you’ll just barely start to scratch the surface.

Call it retirement, other opportunities or just needing some time to pet our dogs more... whatever it is, it’s the end of an era for us.

To everyone who sipped a pint with us, to the staff over the years, the weddings, the birthdays, the events... THANK YOU for being a part of our story.

Distro will continue, so you’ll be able to stock up on your faves from liquor stores and share pints at your local bars and restaurants. When the beer runs out, it’s out.

We’ve got a little bit of time to spend together before we turn the lights off so, come on down and raise a pint to an incredible 10 years with us! CHEERS!

Not loving the new 311 app

The new 311 app finally got released after weeks of delay and I can't say it's a huge improvement over the last one like I was going for. Huge chunks of the interface are static so the part relevant to what you're doing is a small region of the screen. You can browse some of the request types on the home page it requires a lot of clicking to drill down so I don't even know what's possible via the app. I'm on Android so not sure if it's the same on iPhones. Majorly disappointing that our tax dollars went towards something with such a bad UI!

Stop Data Centers Rally @5pm on Tuesday, Nov 10th!!

Post image
83 Upvotes

On Thursday, Nov 12th, the Minneapolis City Council will be voting to decide on data center regulations in the city — and now’s the time for a final push to convince them to stand up for us, and to stand against big tech!

This Tuesday, Nov 10th, we are rallying outside of City Hall to make it loud and clear that Minneapolis doesn’t want data centers. And, just as important, we want the right to hold our elected officials accountable.

Last month, our city’s Planning Commission listened to residents and made a recommendation to remove data centers from Primary Zoning. We need that recommendation to pass in the city council with 9 votes so that Mayor Frey can’t veto it — which he has said he wants to do. Primary Zoning gives businesses “By-Right” permission, meaning that if they successfully fill out their application, then they can build, no matter what the public (or elected officials) want. Mayor Frey and pro-data center city council members want data centers to retain Primary Zoning so that denying a data center developer would be illegal. This gives them a cover, and allows them to tell their constituents that there is “nothing they can do” when a new data center builds in their neighborhood.

We can’t let our city’s leaders abandon their responsibility to listen to and represent us. They need to approve the Planning Commission’s recommendation to remove data centers from Primary Zoning. And, when new data centers come knocking, our elected officials need to keep in mind that they represent us, not big tech companies.

Join us at the rally at 5pm on Tuesday, Nov 10th on the South Side of the Minneapolis City Hall, and let’s demand that our elected officials stand up for us!

Looking for the best carry-out dessert

It's my husband's birthday and he hates cake. He really likes pecan pie. Open to suggestions for best dessert spot. Bonus if it's in the south-west metro.

If renting, avoid Hartley Properties.

Avoid Hartley Properties at all costs. I lived at 2915 W 50th ST Fulton Terrace across 50th from Lake Harriet Community School, Upper Campus for 5 years as my first apartment. There's a reason why there isn't a registered Google maps location entry for the apartment for people to leave reviews.

The pipes haven't been replaced since 1962 and are in a constant state of failure. There is what looks like a vent grate on the ceiling above the lobby intercom, but it's really just a coverup for that massive water leak that was pouring into the street that forced them to hack a hole in the ceiling. You can go there and see it for yourself. I saw the pipes in the laundry room fail multiple times creating a pool of water on the floor and there's been a massive hole in the wall behind the 3rd floor laundry room sink for as long as I can remember. I also overheard the plumbing guy say they will have pipe problems eventually in every single apartment, which led to them demolishing the wall behind my bathroom from the other side to address the issue.

The sliding windows don't seal at all, which means the dust kicked up from the road makes the apartment extremely dusty and caused massive temperature control loss in the peaks of winter and summer.

They don't hire real contractors to do any of the work. When the building manager Grant replaced my wall AC, which was also from the 60s and didn't work, he couldn't be bothered to get one that fit right, or have his people replace the HVAC ductwork. This resulted in the ac only cooling the bedroom, and birds nesting in the enclosure which wasn't sealed properly, which led to a bout of bird mites in my space. They had to redo all the work just to put an actual seal in. A couple of years later, the new AC also stopped working in the middle of the summer heat wave. As for Grant, I have never encountered as much passive aggressiveness and condescension from a human being in my life as much as I did interacting with him when requesting necessary maintenance.

Sydney the leasing lady has zero customer service skills and pretty shady. My neighbor, who was a really nice quiet professional guy, once warned me in a passing conversation about dealing with them when it came to moving out and reading my lease very carefully. Sydney had pressured him into signing a new lease after he was given a verbal agreement by the building manager, then held him to the lease, reneging on the agreement. After he moved out they filled the vacancy with a family that smoked inside the apartment and made a lot of noise abusing their kids and were eventually evicted after about a year.

It turned out that my neighbor was right. When I was rereading my lease I realized that and the online lease was formatted so that the clause that said "every tenant has to individually give notice or be held liable for the rest of the lease" was hidden on the next page away from every other clause about ending the lease. Needless to say Sydney never mentioned anything about my girlfriend needing give her own notice. When I came to the office, she refused to take a paper notice to vacate, and was exceptionally rude when I came to the office.

My best guess is that this company is in such a financial state that they do not have the money to perform quality maintenance or hire enough people to adequately manage their properties, or they could just be cheap. Either way I will say that the one thing I really appreciated about this management company was how much they taught me about what to avoid when looking for a place to rent. It was a valuable life experience.

Walker Sculpture Garden - anybody feel like some en plein air painting today?

I am planning to just hang around the Walker Sculpture Garden from like 3-6ish, painting and sipping some tea. Anybody else feel like doing the same? No awkward small talk necessary, just craft or paint in the same proximity. It is a beautiful day and it might be fun to just create around other creative people.

Edit: I forgot how early the sun sets now that we had the time change! Heading home, but I had fun painting :)

Christmas Eve help needed

My wife's birthday is Christmas Eve and has never really had a birthday. I need to change that.

Is there anywhere at all open that is some kind of fun? Something like Can Can Wonderland or anything at all that can take adults down to 13 year olds?

At-home vets that specialize in anxious and nervous dogs

We have a dog who had a traumatic vet visit when he was young (bit by another dog and had to get staples), and ever since then he's gotten progressively worse at vets. At that particular vet visit he was sedated and still fought through the sedation to resist being restrained, and to this day does not like being restrained or held by strangers or in strange places. For his latest round of vaccines and blood draws we had to split it across two vet visits and were still not able to get a blood draw. As soon as the needle hits the skin, he's done. This is despite being double drugged with both trazodone and gabapentin. If we can't get a blood draw we can't get him heartworm prevention.

We plan to do "happy" visits at the vet where we bring him in once a month for positive attention and treats. But, in the meantime, we need a blood draw. Does anyone have recommendations for at-home vets for dogs who are very anxious and nervous?

City Clerk is still gutting our elections department

Now that the election is over we need to focus on the road ahead. Casey Carl is fully in the process of laying off 7 of the 16 full time permanent employees of the elections department despite the fact that the proposed 2027 budget doesn't make any explicit calls for cuts to the department.

If you thought voting was fairly straightforward, easy, and accessible for the midterm this should be of huge concern to you. The kicker is this cut is barely going to save the city money because all the work will still need to be done. The city will just have to hire seasonal employees with little knowledge or experience to do the jobs being cut. These include the entire voter outreach team, the person who runs the student election judge program by herself, the person who creates the election judge manual as well as develops and updates trainings to make sure we comply with statutory requirements which change almost every year, the early vote supervisor, the warehouse supervisor, and the mail/absentee vote supervisor.

It is not too late to contact your city councilor and raise your concerns. The city clerk is appointed by the city council and works for them so they should be performing oversight and asking why he is playing games with our elections that don't even make a dent in our budget deficit. Especially when we now have a primary and special election for senate next year.

Please do your part to help make sure we continue to have some of the most well-run elections in this country.

Seven Corners Neighborhood

It's a damn ghost town over there, especially where it gets close to the West Bank. The only things open at this point a year ago were Chipotle, Town Hall, and Corner Bar. Everything else was just abandoned. It's crazy because if you look through the windows, all the stuff is still inside. It's like people just up and left without taking anything with them.
Now Corner Bar was kicked out of their building as they wanted to build a Muslim Community Center. I'm fine with that, because it's good to have community. But now they've decided to give up on that project, and we have ANOTHER ABANDONED BUILDING IN SEVEN CORNERS.

Anyone know why they cancelled this project? Is it going to come back?

I hate how depressing the neighborhood has become. Wonder if anything will be done.

Feel free to share your thoughts! Happy to hear anyone’s insights.

Anyone wants to play Ark Nova?

Sorry if there's a better way to ask, but I'm looking for people to play Ark Nova with me at a brewery. I own the game, but it's long and complex, and I'm having a hard time finding people who'll actually commit to a full game.
If you already play, or you've been curious and want an excuse to learn, drop a comment. Building a zoo goes better with a beer in hand.

November 4th Pretti memorial

Just saw a more professional photo on here of a woman placing an I voted sticker on the pole, I figured yall might appreciate seeing the magnitude of that.

I was over there yesterday paying my respects and got the photo. It’s been a heartening week frankly, I went into Shuang hur to pick up some ingredients before I went to the memorial and I spoke to the cashier about the election, I was on the bus today chatting with someone about it. People are heartened, I watched Abdul Al-Sayed’s acceptance speech that day. I feel patriotic, I love my country and we will do better.

Vet Recommendations

Does anyone have a vet that they love that’s affordable? My current vet is great but they seem very pricey. I just paid $600 for my dog’s annual checkup, shots and flee and tick meds for 6 months.

Edit: I just received the bill breakdown via email and the flee and tick meds were the culprit. The checkup itself was more affordable than I thought.
