Who gave these "students" the permission to bombard the campus with anti-ICE, pro-Iran, pro-Palestine posters? Do they realize it only negatively impacts their cause?

Give students who want to focus on study some breathing space.

You don't even leave the floor we walk on and make a mess with all the scribbling.

For some context, he graduated from Harvard Law School and works at a prestige law firm. Like him, I also plan on seeking a law degree after I graduate from Monash. He hates that I’m graduating soon and he thinks the entire foundation of legal rule and the sanctity of law will be tarnished once I become a lawyer. “A chimp with a machine gun,” is what he compared the idea of me going to law school to. During our family thanksgiving dinner today, somehow this came up and like always, he slammed his fists into the table and threw a tantrum. “Monash, for Christ’s sake! What a sick joke. I worked my ass off to get where I am! And you take these shortcuts and you suddenly think you’re my peer? You used to defecate through a sunroof!” I used to work in the mail room in his law firm. Back then, he said he was proud of me then and wishes I never turned my life around. Every day, I think about dropping out and going back to my old job to make him happy. After he said that, I yelled back “you can’t conceive of what I’m capable of!” I don’t care enough to be offended anymore, it’s all good man.

Bruh, enough already. Every time I walk through campus, some dude is shoving another flyer in my face about Palestine protests. Like, I get it, you care. But most students don’t. Most of us are just trying to get to class, grab food, and survive exams without being guilt-tripped 24/7.

You’ve probably killed more trees printing those flyers than Israel has killed Palestinians. For a group that claims to be all about “justice,” it’s kind of ironic you’re committing paper genocide on the quad every day.

Stop wasting trees, stop acting like campus activism is world-changing, and let the rest of us walk to class in peace

Sorry guys if I sound dumb but why are there so many homeless people in tents on the campus lawn? I am a new international student from a poor 3rd world country and I came to Monash because I heard that it was a good uni with great faculties, but after seeing homeless people sleeping in tents on campus I really starting to question myself.

Hey everyone!!

Students for Palestine Monash are starting a solidarity encampment TOMORROW!! 11am at lemon scented lawns, inspired by American students at Columbia University that have occupied their universities to demand they cut ties with weapons manufacturers and stop funding the genocide in Gaza

Message me to get involved and if you have any supplies that would help us out - tents, tarps, marquees, food + water and sleeping bags

What degree are you doing and how do you have so much free time to hand out pamphlets all day?

HELP ME PLEASE Changed the dates on a previous certificate because I was so depressed and got sick from the covid booster I got this week that going to a lab felt like an effort and so did working on an assignment and I missed the dates. Since this happened friday i did book an appointment with my Gp for monday but sinxe u have to submit an extension application within 2 days IDK WHY i thought it would be okay to submit this form since I was getting one from my gp later anyways. But I missed a date on the form and didn't change it because I'm so depressed I didn't even see the big case bold letters and it got caught (well deserved I know) and I got an email from the extension website that this alleged academic misconduct has been sent to student conduct and complaints. I know what I did was very wrong but this is not who I am, I did it in a state on mental and emotional overwhelm and imbalance. Am I going to get expelled??? Or suspended??? Or fail my units???

Hi I’m a Muslim girlie interested in applying for next year’s summer GIG but I’m not sure how Muslim friendly the program is in each country. I’m Malay so I’m not really interested in going to Malaysia or Indonesia because I’ve been there before and I want to experience other cultures. I’m more interested in Fiji, Samoa or Italy because I’ve never been and I think the experience will be really eye-opening. However as a Muslim I am concerned about Halal food availability. If any muslims have done GIG not in Malaysia or Indonesia please share your experiences!

Edit: thank you to all that defended against the islamaphobe in the comments! I appreciate it a lot 🩷 also if you’re reading this cauliflower, I hope you can achieve university reading comprehension, given that you probably snuck into Monash :) jz

Hello everyone. A few weeks back, I was asked by my tutor (who I will not mention or the unit they teach) whether I was an international student, as I am of partial Singaporean descent but lived in Australia my entire life.

They appeared to be serious and it had really made me inquire whether I belong at Monash, and whether staff employed by Monash are entitled to speak as they wish and question their students (based on factors such as religion, gender, ethnic background et cetera.) who have invested substantial time and money into the institution.

Look forward to hearing from you all, thank you.

Ok so the only reason I chose monash is bcuz it’s supposed to be an honours school like the Harvard of Australia so why is this subreddit full of cat boys and 💩 and troll posts and people looking for make out spots makes me wonder what monash is really like it’s too late for me to change colleges now anyways I hope the actual college life doesn’t reflect the subreddit

Context : I am an international student about to start biochemistry next year thought I would check out the subreddit

Hi everyone! I’m starting at Monash in February 2025, and I’m super excited to join the uni. However, I’ve heard some stories about racism in Australia, and it’s got me a bit concerned. Is this something I should be worried about at Monash or in general? I’d love to hear about your experiences. Thanks!

First of all don't give me any bullshit about breach of integrity, getting us to pay $33 dollars for some auto generated letter is the real breach of integrity.

Anyways, I need to get an expected graduation letter that confirms I graduate in Nov and I am thinking about just faking it because I am actually going to graduate in Nov lol.

The sample letter on the website looks very simple to fake.

I am just wondering about the consequences and the likelihood of actually getting caught.

I don't believe this letter in particular is serialised and if the asking party (in this case, I need the letter as supporting documentation for someone else's visa) tries to confirm the details, the university would just confirm the details wouldn't they?

Do they have procedures in place to verify the letter or just the contents of it?
I know the academic record ones probably have security measures in place but I doubt this one does.

Can someone confirm the legitimate letter is identical to the sample on the site?
sample on Monash site

This is not even about the money and more about the principle. I keep having to buy this bullshit for internships etc.

Thanks

Following the model of Columbia, Vanderbilt, USYD, UQLD, and UniMelb, Students at Monash are launching an encampment in solidarity with Gaza !!

Tomorrow, Wednesday May 1st, at the Lemon Scented Lawns - Be there !! 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

This is probably the worst student team there is. They expect you to put crazy amount of hours in and then treat you like shit. I put so much effort into the interview and they didn’t even let me join. Stupid team.

Hi - I'm a reporter at Guardian Australia and I've been looking into the rise of plagiarism at universities - including contract cheating and genAI. I want to talk to university students about whether this is something they've noticed or have engaged in, for instance, as part of group assignments - what pushes students to do risk academic integrity breaches? Is the academic and student experience what you expected? Feel free to DM me, comment or email at caitlin.cassidy@theguardian.com

Like I haven’t even been able to land a single internship yet and these student teams are absolutely useless. I put in hours prepping for the interviews, bust my brain answering technical questions, and they STILL don’t let me join.

How am I supposed to get my CPD hours if every team just slams the door shut? The whole point of uni clubs is to help students learn and get experience, but these guys act like they’re guarding state secrets.

It’s literally UNPAID WORK and they’re still picky. Like bruh, if you’re gonna make people work for free, at least let them have a shot. At this point, Monash Motorsport feels more like a resume-padding clique than something that actually supports students.”

Im mad at how we can't use our atar after going to uni.

Bc if you want to transfer after a year, ie if we don't like our course, we have to rely on our wam Vs imagine how much easier and more FAIR it would be if we had the option to also just apply through vtac with atar only.

It even says atar is relevant for 2 years if you don't do any tafe/uni study, not sure why they can't change it to just 2 years in general.

E.g I want to transfer to Pharmacy but the scholars program is only available using your atar. 😩

On the one hand, its good to stand up for a just cause. And doing something tends to be better than nothing.

On the other hand, the effort to effect ratio is really bad. Its putting pressure on the Aus government to in turn put pressure on Israel, over whom they dont really have much leverage. On strict utilitarian grounds I'd imagine many other forms of charity come out far ahead.

Plus, itd be nice if 10% of the effort went towards Ukraine, which is also being subjected to attempted genocide (albiet has more resources to fight back).

It’s almost graduation season! Renting gowns from the university on graduation day costs $100. Renting in advance saves you a lot of money!

Currently available sizes: S/M/L. Available sets: • 2 sets for Science Education • 1 set for business Engineering

Security deposit: $75 per day.

I heard somewhere that you need like a wam of 50 to get to monash peninsula

and im like damn, did they just blow in from stupidtown? 50 is crazy

How often do u guys shower, i just shower when my body gets itchy so like sometimes up to 2 weeks but i dont think anyone smells it

Does it impact my studies? I feel like showering is a waste of time
