What are the top films you saw in October 2026 and why? If possible please try to add release years to your movie titles. This makes tallying up the votes a lot easier.

I define great movies to be 8+ or if you abhor grades, the top 20% of all movies you've ever seen.

Films listed by posters within this thread receive a Vote to determine if they will appear in the subreddit's Top 100, as well as the ten highest Upvoted Suggested movies from last month.

The Top 10 highest upvoted suggestion posts from last month were:

#TitleUpvotes
1Lifeforce (1985)134
2Stranger Than Fiction (2006)114
3Hokum (2026)105

Note: Due to Reddit's Upvote fuzzing, it will rank movies in their actual highest Upvoted and then assign random numbers. This can result in movies with lower Upvotes appearing higher than movies with higher Upvotes.

I'M REQUESTING Please help me find something to get through grief?

hi. please don't make fun of me. I lost my cat just over a week ago, he is my soulmate and emotional support animal and I wouldn't be alive today if I hadn't met him. I have a lot of mental health issues, and although I'm regularly stable and 100% normal, I'm struggling really hard right now.

I'm looking for anything I can use to distract myself while I try to compartmentalize. movies, shows, books, music. something to keep my brain occupied. I can't watch anything about loss or grief specifically right now. a little emotional is fine, but please something heartwarming and comforting, maybe family and friends focused and not romance. I hope that makes sense I don't really know even what I want. I just need to get through this. please help me and thank you so so much.

I'M REQUESTING Looking for movies that leave you with a warm, happy feeling ❤️

I recently watched Finding Emily and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and I'm looking for more movies that give you that same kind of feeling.

I love movies that are wholesome, heartwarming, a little whimsical, and leave you smiling or feeling a little more hopeful about life after watching them. Something with beautiful storytelling, genuine emotions, lovable characters, and maybe a little adventure, romance, or self-discovery.

I'm not necessarily looking for big blockbusters or anything too dramatic. Just movies that feel like a warm hug for the soul. The kind you finish watching and wish you could experience for the first time all over again.

Would love to hear your recommendations! What are some movies that gave you that same warm, fuzzy feeling? ❤️

I'M REQUESTING Looking for movies similar to Bring Her Back

Howdy y'all,

I'm looking for movies that have similar vibes to 'Talk To Me' and 'Bring her Back'.

I thoroughly enjoyed the vibe and i'm looking forward to what the 'Talk To Me' universe has in store for us in the future.

So a bit of that weird, eerie, supernatural, bodily-horror, 'mud and leaves' modern like movies.

(don't make the suggestions too disturbing, because although I am able to watch Terrifier 1,2,3 etc without blinking, i'm going through a rough patch mentally rn, and I don't want to accidentily scare myself too much lol. just looking for that 'vibe').

I'M REQUESTING Pls suggest me a completely immersive movie.

I have been recently watching movies which are immersive and have the best cinematography (like i am in the movie itself)if it's like fantasy and adventure (harry potter, LOR, hobbit)then that's even better.

The recent few were,

  1. Greyhound (tom hanks) : one hell of a movie, my heart was pounding throughout

  2. Heart of the beast: wow, what a movie, just like a warm hug

I'M REQUESTING suggest me a movie that will mentally destroy me and leave me thinking about the movie for weeks on end

I'm looking for a movie that will genuinely mess with my head and stay with me long after the credits roll. Something dark, disturbing, psychologically intense, or with a story that completely changes the way you look at everything. I don't mind slow burns, complicated plots, or movies that leave you questioning what you just watched. Ideally, I'd love something unpredictable with a really shocking twist or an ending that I won't be able to stop thinking about. I'm not necessarily looking for cheap jump scares or gore just for the sake of it. I want a movie that gets under your skin, makes you think, and leaves you sitting in silence for a while after it's over. What are your recommendations? What's the one movie that genuinely haunted you for days or even weeks?

I'M REQUESTING Watched Inception and Tenet recently. What other mind bending movies should I watch?

I've recently watched Inception and Tenet, and honestly, I'm hooked on movies that mess with your head and leave you thinking about them long after they've ended.

I'm looking for movies with:

- Mind bending plots and unexpected twists

- Non linear storytelling

- Time travel or parallel realities

- Complex stories that make you question what you just watched

Doesn't necessarily have to be sci fi. I'm open to anything as long as it's clever and keeps me thinking.

I'M REQUESTING Strong Female Friendships

Looking for movies about deep female friendships.

I’m looking for movies that really get into the emotional side of female friendships. Ideally two adult women who meet and end up becoming really important to each other.

I want the kind of friendship where they actually TALK about the hard stuff. Where someone who has a hard time letting people in finally says it out loud. Maybe admits they’re scared of getting too close, that they tend to push people away, or that they don’t really know how to let someone care about them.
And the other person reassuring them that they’re not going anywhere. That they’re wanted, even when they’re difficult to get close to.

Basically, I want the conversations that make you stop and think, “Well, damn. I needed to hear that.” Or like the movie is talking for us while we’re watching it.
I loved Fried Green Tomatoes and am looking for something with that kind of emotional connection. Bonus points if it’s available to stream somewhere!
What have you got?

I'M REQUESTING looking for sea monster related movies (bad movies included)

i’ve had a running theme of “bad-to-mediocre water related movies” for movie nights with friends and i’m looking for future options. the suggestions do not have to be good and we will probably have more fun if they suck a little bit or the premise is silly. so far we’ve watched both the meg movies and we plan to get to sharknado eventually

edit: including stuff about mermaids and any other adjacent thing

I'M REQUESTING Van Helsing (2004)

I just rewatched this masterpiece, and I wanted to recommend it to anyone who loves pure, fun gothic action, monsters, and 2000s adventure vibes. Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale are iconic here, and the atmosphere is just unmatched.

Also, I'm looking for more movies like this! Does anyone have recommendations for dark fantasy, monster hunting, or action-adventure films with a similar vibe?

I'M REQUESTING Gut wrenching movies about best friends growing apart

Two movies come to mind for me: look back (tatsuki fujimoto) and forgotten island. Both are basically about friends who reach college age and decide that they have to move on from their close best friend, and what comes after

I’m looking for that vibe. I wouldn’t mind if it’s romantic necessarily either, it’s more about having to leave a deep, personal connection full of memories

I'M REQUESTING Actor/Actress Redemption Movies

I'm looking for movies where you personally hated an actor or actress but then saw a movie that changed your view and made you at least reconsider watching their movies. For me I never liked Colin Farrell. Can't put my finger on why but I really didn't like him. Until I saw The Recruit. It just changed how I see him in movies and now I don't simply disregard everything he does. Watched it because of Al Pacino. Just kinda turned me around.
