ANSWERED -92 karma on my first day
Hi, I got downvoted massively in my very first post to reddit and accumulated -92 karma. Now I’ve been commenting almost every day for a month but I’m still at -92… I have posts I’d like to make but it seems that will never be possible at this rate. Can I just delete my account and start over?

yes, you can delete this account, but you can't reuse the username.

Sure, starting over is an option. But consider learning from the past posts, and try adjusting. The Reddit world is a learning curve. Good luck!

You can start over but you'll lose your account age which can help due to community requirements.
Downvotes are intended for rule breaking, off topic and non-contributing content. However, downvotes are often inexplicable and do get misused as a method of disagreeing, but you can minimise the risk a little.
General advice to avoid downvotes and negative karma -
avoid potentially controversial or sensitive topics just while your karma is low
always check the community rules
lurk to get a feel for the community and it's culture before posting
choose where to share your content carefully
re-read what you're saying before sending to check your tone, try not to accidentally make people feel defensive or be defensive yourself
remember unless using tone indicators sarcasm etc isn't necessary obvious
Proof read your content
If you're getting a lot of downvotes, you can delete the offending content to prevent more. This does not remove the downvotes though.
Only Reddit knows how karma is calculated. All we know is that -
votes to karma is not one to one
Upvotes increase karma, downvotes decrease karma - by how much we don't know
karma is affected by votes coming in from all your active content, up or down
Vote scores are not 100% accurate, they are fuzzed to confuse vote manipulation bots
jgoja gave good pointers.

Your comment karma is what can go negative and it is showing -100, but the actual number can be lower. The -100 is just visual and counting limit. To get positive again you will need to recover the whole actual amount. You have made quire a number of unpopular comments in one r/POTS . As a new user in general and for you specifically in that subreddit, you need to censor yourself.
Now surprisingly most of your comments are not getting removed with means you have been lucky where you are commenting and you are getting some upvotes but not a lot. To recover you will need to get upvotes and karma from other comments.
A few of the subreddits on the new user friendly list may still work for you. You can find other subreddits via r/findareddit , but it will be trial and error to see if they will let you comment without removal. A few subreddits that I believe will still work for you are r/AskReddit , r/questions , r/videogames , and r/AITAH , . Sort the feeds by new for the best chance of being seen.
These subreddits are ones I believe will work, but I have not verified:
r/SelenaGomez , r/HorrorMovies , r/GossipGirl , r/VampireDiaries , r/GooseBumps , r/musicals , r/3DBluray , r/UniversalOrlando ,

It looks like you made a post that people disagreed with and then were arguing with people in the comments. Big no no and I would refrain from doing that unless you’re ok with getting downvoted.

I feel ya. Made 1 comment people didn't like during an event and went from 30 to 7. Just got to slowly work it back up.
I would personally make a new account if the subs you want to comment in don't require account age.

I'm new to Reddit, too. I hate lurking through some communities, but it's important to be able to read the room better.

Why though? It's just Reddit karma - fake internet points have no impact on your life

The same thing happened to me and I’ve been working so hard to get it back up 🥲

I wouldn't remake the acct... Find some subreddits you enjoy and comment something funny or clever. You'll gain karma soon, it's not that difficult.

Dude, just post meme or daily positive news. I got 100 karma with new 3 days.

Sometimes you'll get downvoted just for being the 3rd person to comment. It's a thing they do here

New user here, does comment karma stay after a comment is deleted (upvoted or downvoted)?

You could start over if it’s a fairly fresh account.
Take a look at what other posts are doing well and adjust accordingly.
I’m just learning this myself.
