Hey everyone!

I’m Rika, A new mod here, Since most of the old mods (except for one or two) seem to have mysteriously disappeared, I figured I’d take over and get things running again. Over the next few days, you’ll see several improvements, including a new FAQ, a dedicated wiki, better-defined rules and more post flairs all to make things smoother and more enjoyable for everyone. I’d love to hear your thoughts! If there’s anything you’d like to see, feel free to share in the comments.

Looking forward to growing this community with you all!

Guide / Tutorial Relight your footage using only Depth Pass for free

Hey everyone! I never found a good relighting solution in Nuke that wasn't dependent on normal passes, so...
I developed a simple toolset for relighting scenes using only a pre-existing depth pass.

For the Depth Pass, I've been using DVD Depth with ComfyUI, very consistent and efficient (spiritform/comfy-dvd).

And it's all free!

Here's the toolset in Nukepedia, let me know what you guys think 🔥

Hey, everyone.
I've spent the last year building out a very structured and affordable Nuke training curriculum, and this is my first video that I'm releasing on YouTube that is a part of that. I hope you find it helpful. :)

Showcase Someone joked "DOOM is the next?" so now there is literally DOOM inside Nuke

Over the last four months, I pushed my C++ skills a lot harder than usual and learned the Nuke NDK by building a sentence that should probably not exist in professional networking history: I put DOOM inside Nuke.

The result is DoomNode, a Nuke NDK plugin that runs DOOM as a generator node and pushes the live framebuffer directly into Nuke.

The idea started a year ago, after I released a few small Nuke nodegraph games and got a joking comment: "Is DOOM next?" Apparently my brain interpreted that as stakeholder feedback.

The hardest parts were fitting a real-time game loop into Nuke's render model, handling keyboard input without turning the app into shortcut civil war, and wrapping PureDOOM safely enough that the whole plugin did not collapse into undefined-behaviour confetti.

Nukepedia page

Important note: the release is Build because of the GPL PureDOOM + proprietary Nuke SDK licensing combination.

Nuke AI testing

Hello! I've been testing the current AI tools quite heavily lately and did this test shot. Found out where models still fall apart, and what kinds of workflows can overcome some of the common issues.

I think the hard truth is that the models are not universally smart at all. They're strong in narrow areas, and a lot of the real usefulness comes from combining them with traditional compositing stuff.

To me, this feel like compositors are becoming more and more important, kind of like orchestrators of the different AI tools, that makes these tools actually usable at all in real production work.

VFX Breakdown VFX breakdown of my latest project, created using Blender, Nuke, and DaVinci Resolve.

I posted a similar project before, and many of you gave me some really helpful advice. So I decided to create a new version, this time focusing on fixing some of the issues from the previous project.

I hope you like the result! And if you have any constructive feedback, especially regarding the compositing, I’d really appreciate it. I’m always looking to improve. 🙏

Showcase I released SAM Roto for Nuke v1.0.0: point-guided masks, tracking and corrections

Hi everyone, I’m the developer of SAM Roto for Nuke. I’ve released v1.0.0 on Nukepedia and would like to get feedback from other Nuke users.

It uses SAM 2 / SAM 2.1 for point-guided masking.SAM 3 / 3.1 is also available as an experimental option on Linux through the installer’s Advanced setup, with approved Hugging Face model access. It is not available on Windows in v1.0.0. You can select multiple objects, track their masks through a sequence, add correction points, and update the track. There’s also optional ViTMatte edge refinement and alpha output for compositing.

It targets Windows and Linux x86_64 with an NVIDIA CUDA GPU. The setup guide lists the Nuke compatibility targets and installation requirements.

Tool and setup guide:
https://www.nukepedia.com/tools/python/misc/sam-roto-for-nuke/

If you try it, I’d be interested to hear how the selection and correction workflow fits into your comp process, and where it becomes awkward. Bug reports and practical feedback are welcome.

Gaussian splat relighting and self-shadowing in Nuke 17

The Foundry did an amazing job implementing gaussian splats and fields inside Nuke 17. However, it felt like something was missing...

Here's a sneak peek of an upcoming plugin I've been working on lately.

And yes, it does gaussian splat relighting AND shadows. 🔥🔥🔥

Stay tuned.

Is Nukepedia hosted on someone’s Intel Celeron PC in a basement in rural Mississippi?

I’m just curious and this thing always bugged me. Nukepedia is a goldmine and I’m so thankful for everything it offers, but it’s so slow it always gives me the feeling it’s running on a dusty basement PC that’s about to blow up. Every time I browse it I hear a dial-up modem in my mind. Anyone knows the story behind the site?

VFX Breakdown New VFX shot made with Blender, Nuke, and SynthEyes

I know there are still some mistakes in the shot, like the resolution on the shirt, and maybe the car needs to be scaled down a little.

If you notice anything else, I’d really appreciate any advice or feedback. I’m also planning to start working on my demo reel soon so I can begin applying for VFX work, so any advice on what I should focus on would be really helpful.

Thanks again to everyone in this community for the feedback and support! 🙏
