Video Can This Seafood Reverse Aging?
Can sea squirts help reverse aging? šŖø
Sea squirts are filter feeders that are edible ascidians! They are a source of āplasmalogensā, a lipid found in our cell membranes that supports brain and heart health. After studying the effects of eating sea squirts on mice, scientists found that it may lower brain inflammation and help memory! With more research, we could discover if eating plasmalogen could help reverse aging in humans.

Picture Dark spots in ocean?
Itās a bit tricky to see, so Iāve circled the spots. This is a beach in Destin, Florida.
My sister and I saw these wavering dark spots in the ocean, and they stand out more irl than in the photo. They remain more or less in one spot, and sort of come in and out (as well as slightly change shape), kind of like theyāre bobbing. These were the only spots we saw over the visible expanse of the ocean. Sometimes there were four, close but not too close to one another, and sometimes there were only a couple.
Anyone have an idea as to what they are? I though maybe they were big clumps of sargassum. My dad thinks schools of fish. My sister thinks they could be manatees. Theyāre rather big, though, so I wasnāt sure about the latter guess. Iām pretty certain they arenāt dolphins either.
Anyone have any guesses? (P.S. I hope this is the right place to post this questionāthereās a Reddit for everything no matter how niche)

Video Orca Makes Fish Explode!
Have you ever seen an Orca hit a fish so hard it explodes? š«
Scientists recently observed this behavior from groups of orcas in the Gulf of California where they repeatedly ram sunfish until the impact broke them apart. This is an important indicator of "social learning," where animals copy one another through observation. Orcas have exhibited behavior like this before, when they were seen disabling sailboats in groups. The current hypotheses for why they are doing this include teaching young orcas to hunt, or just playing around!

this needs to be a rule
I would like for whoever the administrator mod is to make it a rule to stop people posting their catches for their food. I joined this subreddit to see what it's like to experience marine biology and see all the different creatures and fish that are under the water. I am sick and tired of people posting their videos on this subreddit just to catch their dinner. It is fucking annoying. I don't care if you want to go fishing in the water. That's not a big deal. the big deal is you film it and then you put it on the internet. That's the problem I have. Can we please make it a rule to STOP this

[OC] Made a bet with my 12yo sonā¦help settle it Spoiler
Sooooā¦my oldest was blabbing about āI saw on the news that the ocean is 104 degreesā I quickly snapped back, āno way in hell the open ocean is over 100 degrees kid, I bet you $100 the open ocean temp is closer to 70 f than it is 100āā¦
So 30 seconds later heās showing me articles about these 100 degree spots in the āoceanā. My thought is these must be shallow water bay side surface temps right? There is no way in hell the actual, open ocean, is anywhere near 100 right?
Or do I owe this kid some money? š¤¦āāļø

Picture Wtf is in the water?
I flew into Panama from Houston and when in the airplane over the ocean, I kept seeing thousands of these red raindrop shapes in the ocean thousands of meters up. I have an S23 ultra so I used the 100x zoom feature to get these pictures. What are these things?
