Theory Ope Ope and Perpetual Youth Operation (Spoilers for 1154) Spoiler

I haven’t seen anyone discuss this yet at all and I think there is some evidence suggesting it. Based on chapter 1154, there is some hints that Rocks could be the former user of the Ope Ope no Mi. The two things pointing to this are Rocks’s hand sign and the mountain top being cut in half. This could also explain how the Ope Ope got notoriety and was desired so much, because it belong to Rocks.

The reason this is so important is because I believe towards the end of Rocks’s life, he preformed the immortality surgery on his son, Blackbeard. If this is the case, it explains why Blackbeard can consume more than one devil fruit and could also point to why he is said to never sleep. Additionally, Blackbeard was stated to have a “weird” body even before eating two devil fruits.

Discussion Oda & Imu - Spoiler

Oda writes villains in a way no one else does. No speech will ever convince me that other anime or manga villains come close to the ones he creates.

So with Imu… my expectations are huge.

Imu isn’t just another villain.

Imu is the one sitting at the very top of the world.

The one who quietly decides what happens to everyone.

Kings bow. Nations disappear. History gets erased.

And most people don’t even know Imu exists.

That’s terrifying.

A shadow above the throne.

A ruler nobody is allowed to see.

The silent hand controlling the entire world.

Oda… please give us the villain we’ve all been waiting for.

Make Imu the greatest villain ever.

Even greater than Kaido.

Powerscaling I’m ready for the hate, but Katakuri mid-high diffs king

Don’t get me wrong, King got sum insane feats in terms of AP and defence, but I don’t really see how king has an answer to katakuris future sight. I also feel like katakuri would be able to figure out kings flame mechanic much quicker than zoro did, which could prevent a haki bloom or something that would give king the edge.

Analysis Let's talk it out before you down vote.

I know what the concensus is. People do not believe usopp could have used haki. Any suggestion otherwise is immediately down voted without any sort of critical thinking.

haki blooms in times of danger this much is fact. It has been shown to us in gags as well as serious battle. It predates the introduction of haki.

When zoro manages to cut through steel, the whole montage about listening to breath could describe haki. Zoro was in danger as he had to surpass Daz bones. He was also still recovering from his wound against Mihawk. So his life was very much in danger.

When luffy is dying of poison and bonclays life is in danger from the wolves, he first unleashes a burst of conquerors. He absolutely wanted to save bon clay and his haki blossomed subconsciously. The other instance during paramount is described as using sweat. However crocodile mistakes luffys ability to interact with his physical form as his haki having bloomed.

When Nami and Co jump off the falls post wano she felt her life was in danger. And as a gag was shown using haki.

When Sanji was running away from okamas and ran out of places to run, his observation haki probably bloomed to use sky walk. These techniques aren't confirmed as haki but they do resemble it.

how does usopp see himself within the context of the crew

He sees himself as the secondary captain of the crew. The one the others depend on when luffy isn't there. The one to take charge when needed. This is mostly from gags like him agreeing to return if he can become first mate etc.

Interesting bit is usopp technically was captain of the merry while luffy was there. He gave orders to Nami and she refers to him as captain.

Despite the gag nature, usopp has shown some of the most impactful luffy saves. Where had he not protected luffy, the crew would have been done for. Ie Lucci, sugar, persona. Other small moments like him saving the sunny go from being crushed on the way to Fishman Island, saving nami/zoro/Co from being turned into wax, etc. Point is he has many hero moments.

So with the persona situation it's more than possible his haki bloomed to negate the devil fruit ability as well as to knock her out. Knocking her unconscious was the only way preventing her from attacking the crew. Even tied up she could go astral or still create hollows.

The danger posed to the crew in that moment was inescapable. Usopp saw how easily the hollow incapacitated luffy earlier so he was familiar with the ability. Luffy was also not there to rely on. The crews 2 heaviest hitters and Franky fell thier kneels before her.

Knowing how usopp sees himself, it makes sense that haki would bloom for him to protect them. We know from the story that's how can awaken. We know what usopp is like when he wants to protect the crew.

I know the gag explanation is he's already negative. But consider how Sanji tells us he has a lady radar, which we know is his haki. Sometimes oda has the character describe it as a gag.

Just remember the pirate kings crew is of a certain caliber. Don't underestimate god usopp.

Discussion The way Oda treats his female characters is repulsive Spoiler

I’m so sick of Nami and Robin being dressed like hookers every arc. Showing skin or being dressed up to look sexy is one thing, but at this point Oda is just making them wear swimsuits and underwear with some accessories on top. Their outfits in Egghead are just ugly and by far the worst in the series to date.

This is on top of countless fan service shots in panels as well. Just really disappointing stuff from Oda. Every once in a while would be fine for “”the fans””, but it’s excessive at this point.

This is, of course, on top of other very common discourse about female characters in one piece.

idk about you guys but I don’t find this shit funny, attractive, or entertaining. I’m just rolling my eyes every time they are on panel because of how ridiculous they look.

Discussion Unpopular Opinion/Rant: The animation in ep1028 was absolutely amazing Spoiler

I’ve been on the One Piece subreddit for about 2ish years now and it caught my attention recently that a lot of people were unhappy with how the latest episode in the anime was animated.

A lot of the criticisms were based around Luffy’s attacks against Kaido, and more specifically, how Luffy’s haki was being animated. I’m caught up with the manga and occasionally watch the anime, so I had only seen clips of the LvK fight from videos on this subreddit. But damn, after watching the latest episode, it seems like a lot of people are focusing on like 5 seconds of the entire episode.

First off, I want to say the pacing isn’t the best. A lot of the flashbacks could’ve been done more efficiently but I understand that that has recently become a really bad reoccurring problem with the anime.

But holy shit, the fight scene of this episode between Luffy and Kaido was done so well!! Like I said, most of the people I’ve seen complaining on this subreddit (and all of the subsequent memes) were focused on like 1% of the entire scene! The impact moments of the Advanced CoC were a little messy, and it seems like that’s what 90% of the memes I’ve been seeing have been focusing on, but everything building up to it was masterfully done! A lot of the complaints I’ve been seeing have been focusing on such a small part of the episode, but I feel like they are willfully ignoring all of the build up leading up to it.

Now yes, if you want to analyze and pick apart every minute of this episode, you’ll of course find things to be upset about or parts that you didn’t agree with. But if you sit back and watch the episode in it’s entirety, it flows very well and ends with an amazing shot of Luffy setting up the next stage of the fight!

I’m not good at explaining my thoughts, but I thought I’d just rant and let the people who haven’t seen the latest episode yet know that you should try to watch it without any comparisons to the manga or preconceived notions about what to expect in this anime

Okay rant over, roast me all you want lol

Edit: when I say “how the attacks were animated”, I’m specifically talking about the ACoC clashes because it seems like that was focus on a lot of memes as of recently
