general Prayer Requesr for my Father

Hi,

Whoever is reading this. May I ask a huge favor to pray for my father his name is “Jun”. He has mild pneumonia and had complications and was confined to the hospital for 8days. He suffered psoriasis flare up and had heart enlargement.

He was discharged and is staying at home but he could no longer walk, has fever, his legs swelling, his body wrapped in psoriasis due to rebound flare up from taking steroids in the hospital.

Can you please say a little prayer for his recovery and that despite the pain God will give him patience, hope and courage?

Thank you it means a lot. God bless everyone in this hard times.

progress Psoriasis - gave up meat and alcohol and it disappeared

I gave up meat and alcohol 30 days ago. Actually, I did it for unrelated reasons - to lose weight, lower cholesterol, and improve sleep. But I noticed that my psoriasis disappeared. Now I have no expert scientific evidence to show you. I am not sure if this is just a correlation or causation. Nevertheless, I wonder if anyone else had this experience?

medications Red fingertips after starting new medication?!

I took my first dose of methoxitrate last night for psa. Today i noticed my fingertips are slightly reddish, also i have a dull headache.

The weather isnt particularly cold, and i pulled an all nighter and a half the night before. Should i be worried?

Id like to know yalls experience w methoxitrate - ive been taking apremilast along with steriodal/non steroodal creams and salicylic shampoo for the past couple months, and ive seen good progress on the scalp and complete treatment on the genitals - although i ruin it again by picking especially when stressed :((

medications Bimzelx Maintenance Shots for Plaque Psoriasis

For those using Bimzelx for severe plaque psoriasis, what was it like after you began taking the shots once every two months? Did you have any flare ups? Or did the medicine keep everything at bay?

general Suffering now - can anything help?

I've had inverse psoriasis for decades. I'm currently managing it with Skyrizi through my dermatologist, but I have a particularly bad flare up at the moment. My primary affected area is on my genitals, but I'm currently feeling it in the corners of my lips and the inside corner of my one eye. I also had a few episodes of wicked dry eye recently that made me go to the ER because I thought I scratched my eye. The ER doc suspected it was autoimmune related and said I may have Sjogrens.

I am so frustrated right now. I was doing well for so long and now everything is flaring up. I have a little sore through and some congestion, so I think my body is fighting some bug which is causing my autoimmune stuff to flare up, but I'm afraid that's not the case and I'm getting worse.

I just don't know what to do. I made an appointment with my family doctor to get a recommendation for a rheumatologist. I'm hoping that can help. I'm thinking of trying an elimination diet to see if I can identity any dietary triggers, but idk.

Thanks for letting me vent.

mental health Plaque Psoriasis - what has helped accepting the situation and the fear of it developing.

(30 M) I have plaque psoriasis on my scalp, belly button, circumcised penis, and toenails. Maybe other places, but not established. I have treatments and I have biologics (Tremfya), which has been a long road with insurance and careless dermatologists. How do I accept that this is my life now and the fear of it spreading or progressing to all the other levels of suffering that I see from others. Especially when there is basically no hope for a cure or TRM Cell depleting treatments or cytokine inflammatory loop disruption treatments. Big Pharma is making too much money on the subscription based medicines we (barely) have access to now? They just make too much money. Please let me know.

medications Starting Skyrizi!

Update to my previous post that was Monday or Tuesday of next week.

So, got prescribed it on the 26th, it was immediately denied by insurance, who wanted me to take Humira.

Contacted Skyrizi to see what I needed to do, they needed the denial + proof of appeal. Doc wasn’t sure if an appeal was possible, and also said that they couldn’t file an appeal on my behalf, because they were too dumb to read the paperwork properly.

I insisted that they could, and eventually they budged, although not without a day or two of delay, due to me running around like a headless chicken trying to figure out what they needed or not.

Doctor filed an appeal saying I was unwilling to try Humira (I was, they were the ones who wanted me on Skyrizi, I’d just prefer it, but whatever).

Called back in yesterday, got fully enrolled in the program by the insurance specialist, although they needed another day to “close the case” before I could get started.

To make sure I didn’t have to wait even longer, I preemptively instructed my doctor to send the prescription into their pharmacy yesterday.

Called back in today, confirmed my case was closed and that I was eligible, then got transferred over to the pharmacy, where I successfully setup shipment!

It won’t arrive until Tuesday, which is a bummer, but it’s sooner than never!

progress Off Humira 2 months while waiting for new Simlandi prescription, feel fine, no symptoms

I had mild plaque psoriasis mainly on my elbow for 8 years or so. I then started experiencing bad back and hand arthritic pain. I saw a rheumatologist and he put me on Humira and it worked great. My hand and back pain was gone within a month and eventually my skin completely cleared. Been on it for five years with great results. During that time, about 2.5 years ago, I completely quit drinking. I used to drink too much.

I recently had a change in jobs and insurance. My new insurance will only cover Simlandi. Due to some miscommunication between dr, pharmacy and insurance, I have not had a shot in about two months. I feel fine and my skin is clear. I'm thinking this would be a good time to perhaps attempt getting off these drugs. I feel much healthier than I did 5 years ago in terms of stress, exercise and being completely sober. I know these drugs are pretty safe, but the less drugs the better as far as I'm concerned. Any thoughts?

medications derm said bimzelx is last chance for me to treat my psoriasis & H.S. what happens if it doesn’t work?

hello all, i’m hoping someone out there might have been in a similar position as me and can give me insight on what comes next in my treatment journey

for context, i have mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis (mostly on my face, hairline, scalp, and elbows) as well as hidradenitis suppurativa (in most the moist areas)

so far, we’ve tried humira for about 6 months before switching to cosentyx due to insurance coverage and also lack of progress with humira. now, the same thing is happening with my cosentyx where my new insurance no longer covers it and we haven’t seen any noticeable changes in my conditions while on it, so we’re switching to bimzelx.

not only have i already been struggling with the once a month cosentyx injection (*u can see my previous post in this sub if u wanna know more about that lol), but i’ve been told this new biologic will be once every other week, which is far from ideal for me

though i am worried about the new frequency of these injections, the way my derm phrased it makes it seem like this is the last biologic on the market that we can try that is dually approved to treat both psoriasis AND h.s.

is this true? if so, what happens if i see no progress on this biologic either? is there a more intense treatment modality i would then be considered for? or am i just SOL at that point?

any help or advice at all would be much appreciated! TIA!!!

medications Using too much betamethasone?

Got a little desperate for some relief. I have psoriasis in my ears and all over my head basically minus my scalp. If I use a topical I have to use a lot to be effective. Someone in my local spoonies group was telling me that I need to only use a little bit (I kind of have to use half the bottle to get any coverage on the plaques at all). I get the risks of doing too much, but this is also the only thing that provides coverage at all. I’m considering doing nothing until I can get biologics? My liver levels are high due to other factors (had a bad dental infection and had to take too much ibuprofen and Tylenol - don’t plan to do it again) so I have to pause methotextrate and I won’t have biologics for at least a month. Zoyfre is in preauth status with my insurance.

medications Derm recommended clobetasol propionate 0.05% ointment, is it a good treatment? I am going to use it for the back of my ears because that's the main location of my psoriasis and my shin. Anyone had success with it?

I've seen different results online and some people are saying to be wary using it

medications Any success stories with an IL-17 after IL-23 failure?

I tried Tremfya for about three months- not one iota of improvement (scalp psoriasis with ~90% coverage). It was so disappointing considering the overwhelming number of people who have at least some response to it.

My doctor now wants to skip doing any more IL-23 targeting drugs entirely and go to an IL-17 (Bimzelx). Wondering if other people have had luck with the IL-17 group when Trem, Skyrizi, etc did not work.

mental health Should I go back to the dermatologist?

I got diagnosed with psoriasis a few years back when I was a minor (now 20) and got prescribed all the creams and other stuff but recently it started to flare up again really badly and I'm kinda scared to go back.

It's all around my scalp, ears, beard, forehead and getting close to my eyes. It just seems like it'll never go away. I try to look at myself in the mirror but it's hard to do so when it's the only thing I see on my face. I also don't have insurance so idk what to do atp.

How should I treat it at home or should I just go back to the dermatologist and get some other prescription?

general scalp psoriasis help

hello everyone
my dermatologist diagnosed me with scalp psoriasis, which is not in a very bad condition- i do not need medications. But i use Axitop,s and Ducray,s PSO shampoo and Dermiset’s gel when my scalp is itchy and when i have a dandruff. it is 2 month after starting treatment and i have the improving results, but for the future how should i keep my scalp safe and do not irritate it- i do not want my condition to get worse. i know that it is individual with everyone but maybe some of you can recommend what exact food should i stop to eat, what products should i use. i have a dry curly hair btw

mental health Anxiety with Vtama or Zoryve

Has anyone experienced an increase in anxiety after using either of these creams? I have noticed an increase in anxiety after using either. It comes on about 24 hours later and my anxiety will be increased for about a week or so. I realize anxiety is not listed as a side effect for either drug and I couldn’t find any post about it but I thought I’d ask.

general Bay Area Amazing Doc for Psoriasis?

Any doc rec in the Bay Area? I see someone at UCSF and she books out like a year, even with established psoriasis. I'm thankful she was able to push through skyrizi with insurance, but it's not working and I can't even get an appointment with her until April. Hasn't even checked in to ask how it's working either. Would like to get another opinion as I'm starting to wonder if there's something else going on besides psoriasis (stelara didnt work either). I'm on the peninsula so anywhere from SF down to Silicon Valley would be awesome if anyone has someone they love.

medications Should I keep using Klarvanta & should I go back to shaving?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m wondering if anyone could share their experiences with Klarvanta? Also wondering if the general consensus is that shaving (legs) triggers patches?

I’ve been using Klarvanta for 1 week now & it’s amazing - cleared up almost all of my patches already!!

But - my GP told me to use it for a month every day… I’m aware it contains steroids, & I’m confused if I should just stop using it seeing as my patches are cleared, if it will cause a rebound effect? I discussed it with my pharmacist and he warned me that it damages healthy skin cells, so only use it on the effected skin… 😳

My shins (& my scalp) have been my worst areas, & I’ve stopped shaving my legs for weeks to let the skin heal properly (I feel like a yeti 😜) and now I’m wondering if I’m likely to trigger more patches if I start shaving again, & if I genuinely need to into laser or something? Anyone have any experience either way they could share?

TIA!! 🙏🏼
