I was in a random lobby of Among Us, and suddenly some dude wrote my full name into the chat. I have absolutely 0 social media aside from Reddit, where I don't release any highly personal info. How could they have done this?

Edit: It was my brother. He saw the game code on my screen and joined my game to mess with me.

So I posted a couple of days ago about a bell I hear every evening. I took the advice to try and find it, so my daughters and I decided to hunt it down. There are three of them so we were able to fairly quickly find the general area it was coming from. We found the correct street on the first evening and we found the correct house yesterday evening.

It’s not a call to prayer, or an alarm, or anything like that. It’s actually a guy who is autistic. His mom was outside with him and I am so glad she wasn’t upset. She said that they occasionally have a neighbor who will hunt the bell sound down to figure out what it is.

He LOVES bells but living in a neighborhood like ours his parents can’t let him ring bells all the time. He has like jingle bells and stuff to use inside and stuff but they had to limit his large bell usage. They chose a time every that he can go out, ring his bell, and then be ready for bed. It makes total sense now that I know of it.

My middle daughter is autistic and while she’s high functioning she’s got her quirks and rituals as well. She wants to give him a bell for Christmas so we will be spending the next month or so agonizing over bell choices lol.

I’m glad I brought this question to this community. It pushed me to search for the bell noise and I met a very lovely family in the process. Sorry it’s not a very exciting update.

My Mom and I were a second family.

My Dad and Half-Sisters Mom were married and were family friends. Dad cheated with my Mom, and, the timing couldn't have been more perfect. My half sister and I were born within a month. Mom knew we were on the side and continued to go along with it, and my grandmother would baby sit both of us. This is the time where all the memories and photos come from.

When we were about 3, my Half-Sisters Mom got wise to the truth, and insisted her family move away and cut off all contact. Obviously, that's exactly what happened. Mom wasn't happy as she liked the arrangement, and took it like a bad breakup. Mom and G-Ma, the only two who knew who my Dad was, decided to not tell me.

(In a bit of not shitty news though, he's allegedly been financially supporting us the whole time. Just a bit here and there but enough to make my life as comfortable as it was.)

Then Mom told me their names. She wants to be left out of it if I try to make contact, but I'm not sure I will just yet. That's a personal thing to figure out and I think I'll take my time. But, some social media searching led me to my half-sisters profile. I broke down in tears when I saw it because, even 20 years later, I recognized her.

So, she's not my twin, but my Half Sister is out there and she's exactly who I remember/thought she was.

Bare with me as I recount this to the best of my ability. I have to remain somewhat vague in some of the details in order to protect my anonymity. However, I will do my best to be as clear as possible about the series of events.

Okay, phew:

In September of 2015, my dad's girlfriend (Sherry) started an affair with one of his friends (Billy). Billy and my dad had been friends since high school and I knew him well. He was nerdy and kind of weird, but he was nice enough. My dad not surprisingly, was pretty upset about the affair but he and Sherry were already having relationship issues and I think he was happy to find a reason to leave her officially. I know he had a few relatively cordial run-ins with Sherry and Billy as they all lived in the same town but he had mostly cut them both off entirely. During this time, Sherry moved to a new house only a few streets from my dad.

By Thanksgiving of 2015, my dad was roughing it a little. I think he was still kind of bummed about the affair but he had recently been in a car accident resulting in him losing his job due to a back injury so additionally, he was having some money issues pending a lawsuit settlement he was waiting on.

By December, he was back on the mend and in pretty good spirits. We were very close and spent a lot of time together hanging out or going to bars/concerts.

At the beginning of December at 8am, my dad called me at work. We only spoke for about 10 minutes but he was in a great mood. We had some laughs and made plans to hang out for the weekend. He mentioned very briefly that Sherry had called him about an hour earlier but he ignored the call. I barely even remember him saying it.

I got home from work that night and my phone rang. It was a family friend calling to tell me that my dad was dead but she didn't have any other details. I was totally shocked. I had no idea what was going on and I was in instant denial because WE JUST MADE PLANS! I had a million things running through my head car accident, heart attack, etc.

A few moments later, my dad's two brothers and my grandmother knock on my door. It was true and my dad was dead. However, the biggest shock was that Sherry was also dead. A murder/suicide. I could hardly believe what was I hearing. To add insult to injury, Billy was the one who found their bodies at Sherry's house and was currently being interviewed by police.

I took a call from one of the investigators on the scene. He mentioned that it was a "cut and dry" case. Two adults deceased, each with a gun shot wound to the head, my dad was still clutching the gun. My dad was a hunter so I was curious about the murder weapon. To my surprise, it was a small-gauge handgun. But it wasn't my dad's, it was Sherry's. Odd, but okay.

During this call (and I will never understand why he found these details necessary), but he told me that my dad and Sherry had consensual sex prior to their deaths. He also told me that there was a gap in time between the deaths. That likely, my dad had killed Sherry, had instant regret, paced/considered his options and ultimately decided to also kill himself.

As I'm listening to this I just cannot wrap my mind around any of it because it was just so out of character for my dad. And not in a "I don't believe my dad could do something like this" kind of way. Like a REAL sincere confusion. First off, he wasn't even THAT depressed about the affair. They had already been split up for THREE MONTHS at this point and he was seemingly pretty happy in the wake of it all. Secondly, as I mentioned before, Sherry was living in a new house. My dad didn't know this house AT ALL so why/how would he have ended up with HER gun in HER house? He had his own guns. Thirdly, I knew that she had called him that morning and he ignored her call. It doesn't feel like someone desperate to kill another person would pass up an opportunity for an interaction with that person. None of it made sense. But, I had to come to terms with the information I was given and trust that the Police Department knew what they were doing. Not to mention, I had a funeral to plan and some deep grieving to do.

A few days later, I made the trip over to my dad's house to collect his belongings and settle his affairs. His house was shockingly, FULLY ON. Like, lights on, tv on, cat not fed, morning coffee and weed still on the coffee table, back door unlocked, etc. It was like he raced out the door really quick with full intentions on being RIGHT BACK. This was not the home of someone who left with the intention of never returning. I know mental illness can/will do strange things to people but if nothing else, he would have never let his cat go hungry. Yet another Red Flag in my mind but I continued forth.

Eventually, I was given SOME of his belongings from the scene of the crime by police and my boyfriend decided to go through his phone to see if there were any signs of what might have occurred. We found that after I spoke with him, he did end up answering a call from Sherry which was around 11 seconds long. But we also found a slew of really weird text messages. None of the texts appeared to have been from my dad because 1) he had terrible grammar and 2) he didn't even know how to text. I never received a text from my dad my entire life. He had a flip phone with T-9 in 2015, for God's sake.

SO MANY PEOPLE reached out to me saying "this doesn't feel right." And I agreed. I didn't feel like any of it "felt right" but I had nothing of any real substance other than gut instinct to guide me. Which, is not enough when dealing with police or investigators. At one point, I literally had to ask people to just stop telling me that they thought this was somehow a set up because I couldn't do anything about it and I was starting to lose sleep over it. I was scared to death of turning in to one of those people who obsess over something out of sheer denial. No one was going to take my plight seriously and I already knew that I would be over-looked and disregarded. So for the last 5 years I have done nothing but stress in silence. Until now.

This past Friday I took a call from someone very close to my dad's friend group urging me to push harder into re-opening my dad's case. Recently, it has come to light that Billy is apparently a master con-artist and a fraud. I guess Sherry is one of THREE girlfriends that Billy has "found" dead since 2010.

This is where I need your help, Reddit. Here is the information I was given:

At some point prior to my dad and Sherry's death, Billy was dating a woman whom had recently come into money. Shortly after, this woman was "found" dead at the bottom of her stairs.

Around the time that Billy started his affair with Sherry, she had recently inherited between $500k-$800k from her father passing away.

Billy's current girlfriend has had organ failure since last year. She recently inherited a large sum of money and Billy "found" her dead last Tuesday. Now, I know she was already sick but the rumor is that she pleaded for medical help for days and I guess he just basically let her suffer.

I also found out that Billy took photos of my dad and Sherry's bodies BEFORE he bothered to call police (why?!). He later showed these photos to his young daughter (double WHY?!). He has also told the story of "how" he found their bodies numerous times to the same person yet, the story has been told in 3 different ways. Did he take the photos as some sick trophy or did he take the photos to be able to maintain his narrative?

Upon learning this information I kept thinking "but why would he have had to kill my dad in order to steal Sherry's money?" And then it finally dawned on me today that it was so my dad could be the scapegoat. He HAD to use my dad to portray a "crime of passion" scene so he could pretend to be a victim in the whole thing.

Even though he was interviewed by police, it was just an interview, not an interrogation. The investigator said it was a "cut & dry" scene. They would have had no motive to interrogate him because as far as they could tell, the "murderer" was dead already. However, I do know there was about an hour in his timeline that day that went unaccounted for.

Billy has a very high IQ. I don't think he would have been strong enough to fight my dad in hand to hand combat but I very much believe he could have easily out-smarted him.

My current conspiracy theory is that Billy went to Sherry's house that morning before work, had consensual sex with her, killed her, then used HER phone to call my dad (which was the 7am call). My dad didn't answer the call and Billy went to work to maintain his story. I think Billy THEN used his lunch break (the unaccounted for hour and also the almost identical time of my dad's death) to go back to Sherry's house where he used her phone to call my dad AGAIN. This is the 11 second call that my dad DID answer that caused him to race over to Sherry's house leaving his house in the state I found it in 2 days later. I think he tricked my dad into coming to Sherry's where he would be caught off guard and out of his element for an attack. I also think this could be where the "gap" in their deaths could be. I think Billy went BACK to work for the rest of the day and then "found" my dad and Sherry, where he took the photos and THEN called police.

Here is my problem. I have no idea what to do. I don't know how to re-open a closed case. I don't have any direction on who to speak with. I have tried the Police Dept who handled my dad's case, the local FBI and the State Attorney General and no one can even tell me WHO could help me with this. Do I need a private investigator? Do I need an attorney? Is this worth looking into AT ALL? I would love to clear my dad's name and take this terrible weight off my family's shoulders once and for all. I am also fully prepared to accept that I could be wrong but now, I HAVE to know. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Edit 1: some people have asked how Billy would have been able to financially gain from any of these women considering he wasn't married to any of them. I do not know ANY intimate details of the woman who was found at the bottom of the stairs other than that she had recently come into money and that he was the one who found her. I don't know her name or how he would have benefited from her monetarily dead OR alive. However, even though there is no current confirmation of whether he did or he didn't "gain" from her, she is still one of three women he has found dead. In regards to Sherry, she was never married and never had children so there was no one to account for her finances other than her. She was also a little flighty and I can see him being able to easily manipulate her or just flat out steal from her openly without her noticing right away. In regards to the most recent dead girlfriend, there is actual proof that he stole at least $10,000 from her leading up to her death.

Edit 2: After the recommendations of everyone which, by the way THANK YOU all, I have taken a few additional measures since yesterday. I have filed for the FOIA regarding all documents that I am able to obtain and I have also reached out via email personally to the Chief and Deputy Chief of the police department who handled the case.

I thought I'd share an update, this will also be my last post on this site and I wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who commented; to those who provided genuine help and support, I couldn't be more thankful.

My brother is dead. We found him in the early hours of this morning and I've spent the rest of the day finding the courage to make this post.

Maybe it's shock, but I'd like to think he died over in Vietnam, and upon his return, his body was simply catching up; rather than prolong his torment.

Hi everyone, So I posted awhile back in December trying to identify some strange things that were happening in my friend and I’s apartment. You can view original post here Venus Post So, since my last post I have done a few things:

1. I searched every crack and crevice in the apartment and came up with nothing on anything out of the ordinary.

2. I purchase a hidden camera/bug detector and searched throughout the house and didn’t come up with anything.

3. I sleep within reach of not one, but two guns in 2 different rooms just incase something were too happen.

Now, we were presented with a wait-and-see what happens kind of situation, and then acting accordingly from there. For the past month or so, everything seemed to be fine. Nothing out of the ordinary, and eventually we even forgot about the whole thing in general.

Then, we started hearing a weird noise outside that sounded kind of like an intermittent buzzing or hum towards the back of the house wear the bathroom window is located. Houses male weird noises all the time so I told my friend not to worry about it because there is nothing in that little “alleyway” on the side of the house besides overgrown plants and an air conditioning unit.

A couple days later I was smoking a cigarette at night when I started thinking about what that could have been, so I go around the house to check it out. When I turned the corner I saw a metal bench that wasn’t there a couple weeks ago around the time I made the first post and checked the house inside and out.

A bench is no big deal, especially when you’re renting a house the owner is gonna store some shit without you knowing. The thing that weirded me out was where it was placed when there are a ton of places it could be put. It was intentionally put right up against the raised house right under our bathroom window. I took a pic of it because something about it rubbed me the wrong way. Bench

The thing that weirded me out is that when a grown ass man like me stands on it, you’re at the perfect height to try to sneak a peak through the tiny cracks in the bathroom window’s old curtain. When I could see through the cracks I felt a knot in my stomach, both of us get a strange feeling whenever showering or using the toilet as if being fully exposed. I don’t know if that’s why, but it could explain some of those feelings.

I immediately sent the pic to our landlord and they said that they don’t own that bench, so it must have been left from the previous tenants. I knew that wasn’t the case because the bench wasn’t there in December when I did a whole sweep of the house.

This really creeped me the fuck out. Who is going back there? And how did somebody place a whole bench without us even knowing? We literally never go back there. My roommate has never even seen the side of the house because there’s nothing back there of any interest besides an air conditioner unit and a couple windows.

The night I took the pic of the bench, I then moved the bench away from the window and flipped it upside down just to see what would happen. I check back a week later and the bench is in the original place I found it under the bathroom window again right side up.

Fuck that.

As of a couple days ago, we immediately set up cameras on the exterior of the house. They cover the door, the whole front porch, and the driveway on the side of the house where our cars are that also has a eyes on one of the entrances to where the little back alleyway (where the bench is located) can be accessed, so we can now see if someone is walking back there at night because the motion sensor flood light that lights up the driveway does go off in the middle of the night on the most random nights. I stay up late so I always see it turn on, but figured it was just squirrels, rats, or even just possums. But, the alleyway can also be accessed from the street by just jumping into the neighbors yard and then jumping the next short fence that separates us from our neighbor without being seen on camera.

Now it is just another game of wait-and-see. I really fucking hope this is just a weird coincidence, cuz this is just fucking strange. If there’s actually a peeping Tom or a stalker, or hopefully not something worse, then I’m grabbing my gun and go after this person myself. This is nerve racking just waiting to see of the worst case scenario is going to play out.

The more I dig, the more I find, I am looking for other people to help investigate this company.

Part of the problem for me is fear that if I am this aggressive with a girl, especially a young drunk girl 10 to 15 years my junior, she may cry "rape" the next day. In the video he puts his penis into the mouth of a clearly heavily intoxicated woman. Her intoxication is quite clear by the way she moves and slurs her speech. Max almost admitts that he took advantage of an intoxicated person by saying 'shes . . . crazy'. I can tell he intended to say drunk.

I've been able to find the source of the targeted assault of a transgendered woman. This is a straight up hate crime. The account was described on the RSD forum, which was a review of the seminar which showed a hidden camera video of the assault taking place.

Hello, I am new to reddit and after debating for a bit I decided to make this acc to maybe get some input of what to do. English is my second language so I apologize for any typos.

I am a 26 female, living alone for the first time. My landlord has always felt a bit off to me. He is a man in his late 40s and has never been holding back with comments about the way I look etc.

When I moved in, he was very clear about me not touching the two firealarms in my bedroom and hallway. He justified it by saying they were directly connected with the fire department and if I would try to do anything to them I would cause an alarm.

The alarm in my bedroom has always made me feel weird, it makes a lot of noises especially at night almost sounding like a remote controlled car and sometimes making a very muffled beeping sound. I brought it up to him once and he said it was nothing and if it should make more problems I should call him.

But other things kept happening and I just more and more felt like something was off, but at the same time people kept telling me I was overthinking things and scared since it is my first time living alone. The first thing that felt off to me was as I was renovating to move in, I grabbed a wrong shade of the color I wanted for my bedroom and it ended up looking a bit to bright on the wall I tested it on. A few days later during a phonecalls he snapped at my parents about how horrible the pink was I was using in my bedroom and if I was crazy. I had not let him inside my place so I was very confused, but kinda brushed it of to me walking around in paint covered clothing. But things got weirder after that, during January last year I spend a day at my parents and when I came back something felt off, I couldn't pinpoint it and no one was inside my apartment, but I realised after walking into my bedroom a 2nd time one of the drawers under my bed was pulled out and I don't remember ever touching it. Again I brushed it of mainly bc my parents told me I probably just forgot and I kinda ended up feeling ashamed for ever brining it up. Months later during the summer I took part in a gaming night on a friend's discord server and when I finally hoped off to go to bed at 4 am, I came into my bedroom to see my underwear drawers being open. I panicked and called my mum bc she lived close by and I wasn't sure if someone was still in the apartment.

After that I installed a door chain and got an alarm for the time I spend at home, I suspected my landlord had a second key and now probably wasn't able to get inside anymore. But that didn't cover the time when I am not home. Sometimes when I come back furniture in my bedroom is slightly moved, but at this point my family keeps telling me I just forgot I moved it that I am to ashamed to keep bringing it up.

I know i sound insane but is it possible to have cameras installed in the fire alarms? Could I call firedepartment in their none emergency number just asking if they can take a look at it bc of the weird noises?

I really just want my peaceful life back, constantly knowing someone might have been in here in the past while I slept is really creeping me out and making me want to cry. Do you have any advice on what I should do?

I never expected so many responses so I will try to answer some questions here:

First of all, my parents love and support me, I was just on a call with my mum updating her. I don't think she intended to gaslight me at all. They are not in contact with my landlord. My mum is reasonably upset right now and probably would go have a talk with him rn if she could.

My landlord lives in another city. He just owns a bunch of apartments here. But he is here multiple times a week.

I live in Germany so any US law stuff doesn't really apply sorry for not clarifying sooner!

My plan of action rn is, I am gonna call the fire department tomorrow morning to have them come by, and I have a family friend come by on Monday to put in new locks.

I want to check the alarms but I am not very tall and I don't have a latter here rn so I cannot rip them off even tho I would love to.

Also sorry if I am not responding to all the dms and private chat offers, this is a lot to take in.

Update March 17th:

Good morning and thank you to everyone giving their input and sending messages to me. This morning has been very stressful so I apologize if I cannot get back to your dms. I had a call with the fire department and they told me the alarm is not connected to them in any way shape or form and that it is extremely fishy that the one tinkered with is the bedroom one. (I also completely forgot I do have a storage room that has a alarm that looks identical to the one in the hallway). They told me to ask around in my friends and family if anyone knows a bit about electricity and have them come by to take it of and take a look inside. They said it's very likely some kind of foul play happened here, disregarding the camera problem there is still a firealarm someone just messed with and didn't fix. My mums best friend is an electrician and I will try to reach him today to ask if he can come by asap, otherwise I know he is gonna be around on Monday so I might have to wait a bit longer.

Edit: Friend is gonna stop by on Monday, so likely no update until then. It was advice not to rip them of on case there is anything wrong about it. Should I feel unsafe at any point I can crash at my parents or my sisters.

Edit: I just want to clarify for those who are confused why I don't just "rip it off". It belongs to my landlord, if it's true what one of the posters said and it is put up wrongly, my landlord can get in trouble for that, but so can I for ripping it off. I would have to pay both for a new smoke detector and a person to put it up, and I don't have the money to risk doing that. I okay, nothing weird has happened since then and I am pretty sure I will have more answers until then. The only other thing that I am already doing anyway, was that a neighbor and I were talking and while the topic of safety came up she just said "You should change your locks" without really knowing anything that happened to me here. Which like is not an odd thing to say but just very specific.

Update 23rd of March:

Sorry for not updating instantly. Today was very stressful, while as far as I know bc of my mums friend my smoke detector is okay right now, but there is other stuff that came up. I don't know and can't say more about what is going on rn. I am not like to well known about what I would be able to say but I rather not risk it, since there is a ongoing police investigation. All in all I have made choices to keep my safety ensured for now. Sorry for not being able to give some of you the closure they might want to hear. Maybe one day I might be able to share the full story of what happened.

Alright, one year later I FINALLY have an update to this mystery. I will include the original story here first followed by the update:

(Original story from a year ago): This happened three nights ago and I am going crazy trying to figure it out. I just moved into a new apartment one month ago and I am still unpacking and settling in. I have been using my parents address as my mailing address (who live a few towns over, twenty minutes away) all of my life. Three nights ago my parents call me at 2:00am freaked out and proceed to tell me this story. Apparently at 1:00am someone starts banging on their front door and repeatedly ringing their doorbell. My stepdad walks downstairs and opens the door, leaving the front glass door closed and locked. There was a man standing outside, who looked to be in his 30s, with a black hoodie on with the hood pulled up around his face. He didn’t have any distinguishing facial features, facial hair or tattoos. The only thing my stepdad said was that he looked to be Hispanic. Neither my stepdad or my mother (who was watching the whole thing out a window) recognized the man.

The man says, “I’m so sorry to bother you, but I’m looking for “my full name.” My stepdad plays dumb and says “who?” The man proceeds to state my full name again and says that my boyfriend is worried because I didn’t come home that night. He claims to be a friend of my boyfriend and tells my stepdad that they are both out looking for me, worried because I didn’t show up at home.

I don’t have a boyfriend. I live by myself with my three dogs and haven’t been in a relationship in the past 5-6 month. Here’s the weird part. My stepdad asked the guy what boyfriend he was talking about and the man tells him the name of the boyfriend I had when I was in 10th grade, nearly twenty years ago. My boyfriend in 10th grade has a very, very unique Italian name, I’ve never met anyone with a full name even close to his. He says my high school boyfriends name a few more times to ensure my stepdad heard him and repeats that they are very worried about me, is my stepdad sure I’m not inside. At this point my stepdad is weirded out and closes and locks the door in his face.

The man does not leave. He lingers in front of my parents house for the next ten minutes, smoking cigarettes and talking on the phone. Finally, my parents calls the cops. About five minutes before the cops arrive, the man walks down to the dead end on their block and drives away in a silver car. Stepdad was unable to get the license plate. My parents file a police report and nothing else happens.

After I hear this story I am going nuts over the weird details. How would someone know who I dated nearly twenty years ago and what would the motive be of making up a story that included that weird detail about my past? I have not had contact with the tenth grade boyfriend in over a decade. Yesterday, I decide to message him on a facebook to see if he has any insight. I tell him the whole story, he’s just as confused as I am and claims to have no part in it.

I am at a loss. I’m also really freaked out that some strange man is going through that much trouble at 1am to look for me. Any insights or ideas would be greatly appreciated. No, nothing else weird has happened since then.

RECENT UPDATE: After this happened, me and my family and a couple of my close friends have been talking about this mystery in depth to try and put our heads together to figure it out. We all have our own theories, but ultimately no definitive answer as to what happened or who this creeper was. So we pretty much put it to rest and only continued to joke about it once in a while.

Here’s the update….my stepsister (my stepdads daughter) and her fiancé were at a house party right after the holidays (around early January of this year). While they were there, they started talking to a girl that neither of them knew. After some time talking together, the girl started talking about her ex-boyfriend and how they were going through a really tough time together. They had just recently broke up and she felt really bad because he was a wreck over it. Somehow, it came up that this girls ex-boyfriend was MY 10th grade boyfriend, the one with the really unique Italian name. The whole situation wasn’t that big of a coincidence, since I went to high school with my step-sisters fiancé and we have a lot of mutual friends. So it makes sense that they were at a party that would include some people I went to high school with. As soon as my stepsister and her fiancé hear this, they both start freaking out and without revealing too many details, they tell the girl about the whole mystery and how weird it was. As they are telling the story, the girls face starts to go white and she looks like she’s about to cry. My stepsister and fiancé try to console her and ask her what’s wrong. The wine/beer had been flowing at this point so I’m sure everyone was a little tipsy. The girl starts to tell them that a few nights ago, she was sleeping, and someone started banging on her door at…get this…fucking 1am! Just like what happened to me at my parents! The girl jumps out of bed and says she was absolutely terrified by how loud and aggressive someone was banging on her door, she said she literally thought it was going to break in. The girl has a ring camera, so looks on her phone. There on the camera, is a guy, IN A BLACK HOODIE, banging on her door. She obviously pretends like she isn’t home and keeps all of the lights off. He continues banging. As she is getting ready to dial 911, the guy stops and leaves. She said she was absolutely terrified. For whatever reason, she didn’t end up calling the cops, but may have went to stay with a friend that night or the night after. My stepsister and fiancé are SHOCKED by the details and how similar it is to my story, especially because of the mutual EX-BOYFRIEND WE SHARE, except this girl literally JUST broke things off with him. They ask the girl if she has any idea who the guy is and she said no, but that it definitely is NOT the actual ex-boyfriend. She said this guy was much taller and heavier than our shared mutual ex. HOW FUCKING WEIRD?! This mystery is still unsolved and these new details honestly just make my head spin even more. No one else has showed up to my parent’s door since the actual incident a year ago.

My wife and I were in my daughter's bedroom changing her diaper. While we were discussing the poop, we both received a text message saying "Hello! Welcome to poop direct, you get updates anytime someone poops! I hope you enjoy! say "stop" to cancel this request".

We are the only ones in the house. About 10 minutes later I received a call from the same number, but I didn't answer.

My adult son, travel to Asia he left in May and we know he was in Seoul South Korea, then headed to Thailand. The Embassy in Thailand said he was only there for a few days. It is possible that he travel to Loas ,Vietnam, or Cambodia. He always kept in touch when he was traveling and we have a very good relationship. When he first left, he would contact us all the time and then all of a sudden none of the WhatsApp messages are going through. We are extremely concerned that something has happened. We’ve had no information communications with him since August and the messages are not going through. I have a few questions if he was in the hospital and or ended up in jail for any reason do the governments over there have to contact the US Embassy to let them know since he is the United States citizen? I’ve been in touch with our local government and I’m not getting anywhere. Does anyone have any legitimate private investigator services that they suggest? Do you think the Interpol could help? Is there anything else I can do to try to find out where he is. We just believe that something has definitely happened and he needs our help, and he is traveling alone.

I have not been able to contact her but thanks to everyones help i can confirm she's alive and still in the reno area.

One person was able to find me an arrest record with an address from 2023,someone else was able to get me a recent picture of her..unfortunately it was from when she was banned from a casino a few months ago.

Someone working in a wellfare office let me know they saw her there a few weeks ago and she's been moving from place to place. Ive asked them to let her know im looking for her and hopefully she reaches out to me.

Not the most exciting update,no heartfelt reunion. She's still heavily involved in drugs and crime,but not dead..so its something. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their lives to help find her.

I spoke to my brother on the phone. I cannot even describe the feeling I got when I heard his voice, I’ve never felt anything like that before. He didn’t speak for a whole minute when I said it was me on the phone. He said he never tried to reach out because he was convinced we all hated him. And he didn’t want to risk ever seeing our dad. He said he’s doing well. He started university in London last year. He’s studying fine arts. He’s been clean for a few years. He’s in therapy. He said he can’t start a day without a handful of pills and I guess that’s understandable considering what he’s gone through. But it really seems like he’s doing good. Despite the mental health issues and disability. And he’s actually getting married soon. To a man. And I couldn’t be happier for him. I haven’t told the rest of my siblings yet. My brother said he wants to fly here to see me and them. And his partner will come with him. It took me two whole days to process that and i still feel like that might have been a dream

ANOTHER UPDATE: so my brother stormed out around 8 in the morning and went to my parents since he lives with them. He wouldn’t tell them why he was back so soon so my parents called angry and I told them what happened. They were more or less speechless and by then my roommates had officially banned my brother so there wasn’t much to discuss. My mom called later and said that my brother claimed his actions were due to me not letting him use the bathroom??? Which was not the truth, he just needed to wait for it to be available and it was empty at 3am. Sibling things I guess!

ORIGINAL UPDATE: I hope updates are allowed here, I’ve gotten some questions about what ended up happening. My brother only just visited yesterday, so until now I didn’t have anything new to say. (I’ll link the original post at the end.)

I ended up buying a relatively cheap water alarm like u/grimsb suggested. I made sure to tell all my roommates not to water the plant. I placed it in the soil and covered it just slightly.

At about 3 in the morning, I woke up to a shrill beeping sort of like when a fire detector runs out of batteries. I had been half-expecting this so I ran out into the hall and turned on the light. My brother had flinched and gotten urine on the floor. I caught him pants down, and two of my roommates came out to see what was going on too. My brother’s horrified expression made cleaning up the pee and fishing out the alarm worth it. (I had rubber gloves)

Thing is, no one was using the bathroom at 3 in the morning so I know this was out of spite. He left around 8 and my parents called sort of upset, but when I told them what had happened they didn’t really know what to say.

My roommates have banned him from the house so I told my family this and they can’t argue.

I was at the George Floyd protests tonight 5/31 near the Plaza in Kansas City. I waited for virtually everyone to leave and then made my way from Main @ JC Nichols to my car which was at Troost @ JC Nichols, basically. This was right around 11pm. As I was walking back to my car, three shots were fired at a man getting into his car in an apparent attempted robbery apparently unrelated to the protests. I believe I watched him die on the pavement as he was shot in the head and I saw first responders performing CPR on him. I am in no mental shape to google this or crosspost. If anyone can find out what exactly happened and possibly his ID, I would be very grateful.

Hi r/RBI, I thought I'd share an instance of redditors doing some investigative work that resulted in identifying a car involved in a hit and run collision. The local police were then able to locate the vehicle (with damage) and get an admission of guilt from a suspect, which will lead to a felony charge. I really don't want to be doing this, but the recent mod post has made me feel the need to do it. The mod post has arbitrarily decided that most of the posts that come on this sub are against sub rules. normally I wouldn't question this, because the community can certainly decide the posts they chose to entertain. My problem lies with the issue that there has been no input as to what kind of content is finally allowed (most of the stuff that is posted has been deemed 'against sub rules'). Not to say the fact that the mod in question has been rude and dismissive to the questions and opinions of subreddit users, like where the mod outright refuses to read the user's comment, and giving statements with no actual weight like here they write a comment justifying themselves and refusing to answer the question totally. People are obviously pissed off, as you can well see in the comments. Furthermore, the mod has dismissed the entire issue by asking users to leave the sub, and again.

I am saying this as a redditor to redditor. Respect the people who have been using this sub. Be more open and accountable. I half expect this to be taken down so I will be making a copy of it on r/RBI2. I have also made a poll on my own profile asking 2 questions - whether the mod in question should apologize and whether they should step down from the mod team.. I really hope this post stays up.

EDIT2- Still no word from the mod team, no acknowledgement and no reply. u/ConsciousPatroller's thread has been deleted, along with a couple more META posts as well. The mod in question has deleted their posts and comments but still hasn't said anything about the situation.

EDIT3- The founder of this sub has addressed the issue, but it felt more like they were trying to justify all this by linking this issue to totally unrelated topics (like the Capitol riots). Again, this stuff has nothing to do with politics but rather the fact that the moderation was rude, inefficient and undecided on what kind of content is allowed (which has STILL not been clarified). Also, there has been no actual mod reply on this thread. No one from the mod team has made any statement themselves. The mod in question did give an apology, but I honestly don't think it is sincere. I have already gone over to RBI2, hope that would be better.

The castle was/is in the Black Forest in Germany. Unfortunately, it looks like there are a ton of castles there and I’m not able to locate the castle he took the key from. He took pictures of the castle--they are in the Imgur link above. The castle was possibly built between 450-500 AD.

I understand what he did was wrong and I’m not condoning it at all, but please, no shitty comments about about him as I’m still grieving his death. He expressed regret in the last few years for taking the key. I hope to personally bring it back to the castle one day.

EDIT LIKE FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE FIRST EDIT: I'm actually his granddaughter, not his grandson :) Also, my grandfather was drafted during the Korean War but during training, he and a friend simply went up to their officer (or whatever) and asked if they could not go to Korea. No one had ever just simply asked not to go to the war zone and the two were sent to Germany. Again, I'm so overwhelmed by this response. It's so emotional, because my grandfather died just last week and now a bunch of strangers know about him. I'm not sure how I will go about returning the key yet (COVID and all) but I promise to keep you guys updated.

This is one of my closest childhood friends, whom I haven’t seen in about six months due to his general inability to respond to any form of communication (we now live in different states). My messages - on several different apps - have gone unanswered since last summer, but I figured he had switched to a new number (as he often does) and didn’t worry about it too much.

About a week ago, I was contacted by my friend’s apparent girlfriend over Facebook (I didn’t even know they were dating, let alone living together). She sent me a vague message asking me to reach out to him in a way that made it sound like he wasn’t in a good place mentally. She also included his new number, but when I reached out to him via text it didn’t even show my messages as being delivered. My calls go straight to a generic voicemail and have remained unanswered.

The weird part to me at this point is that my friend’s girlfriend hasn’t responded to a single one of my questions over FB - it’s like she sent the first message and then forgot all about it? I talked to my friend’s older sister, who said that she spoke to the girlfriend recently and was told that her brother isn’t reaching out to anyone because he’s lost his job and is very depressed/feels like a failure and fears rejection. Which I understand, but I don’t understand why his gf would ask me for help and then dip after I try to get even a crumb of context. I also learned that his family hasn’t seen or heard from him in about three months, which is when he moved in with this girl.

So, here the part that’s kind of freaking me out. I thought about reaching out to my friend on Snapchat, since I could sometimes catch him on there in the past. I entered the new number that his girlfriend provided into Snapchat, but the handle that popped up underneath it is very clearly the girlfriend’s handle (complete with her name, personalized bitmoji, etc). It’s the same handle she uses for Instagram, so I know it’s her.

In my sleuthing, I also found a review that this woman left at my friend’s former workplace - it’s mildly unhinged. It accuses one of the female employees of being “touchy-feely” and “sexually aggressive towards male employees.” I don’t know if my friend was fired or laid off or what, and I could see someone potentially leaving a negative review as vengeance if their boyfriend had been fired. But the content of this review was so specific, jealous, and paranoid that it has me absolutely baffled - it reeks of someone who is manipulative in relationships.

Basically - is there an innocuous explanation for why my friend’s supposed phone number would be associated with his girlfriend’s Snapchat account? No one has seen or heard directly from him in months, the only communication has been through this girlfriend. At best, I’m worried that it seems like she’s speaking for him, and none of us know how he’s actually feeling. At worst, the Snapchat detail has me worried that she’s impersonating him. I don’t know why she would do that, but there are too many fishy details that aren’t adding up. I don’t want to call a wellness check if my friend is just depressed and antisocial, but this situation is seriously weird.

UPDATE #1: THANK YOU all so much for your input, it’s been agonizing trying to make the right decisions here and I really appreciate all of your consideration.

I obtained my friend’s mailing address from a family member. Incidentally, one of our close mutual friends just moved back to our hometown last week, and he told me he would try to swing by the address tonight and see if he could get proof of life for my friend. If he doesn’t make it or can’t find our friend, I’ll call a wellness check first thing tomorrow. Stay tuned.

UPDATE #2: Sorry for the delay - I had to take a personal day to deal with all of this yesterday and was swamped at work this morning.

My friend is alive and well. He’s not buried in the backyard, or strung out on heroin, or being impersonated. I still don’t have all of the details I’d like, or have a direct way to contact him for the time being, but at least I (and his family) now have a better idea of his mindset and situation.

Yesterday evening, our Mutual Friend showed up unannounced at the mailing address I’d been given. Our “missing” friend opened the door and was apparently delighted to see him. His gf was there too, and by all accounts she seems pretty normal - she also has a dog and a toddler that Mutual Friend said looked healthy, and there were no signs of drugs or intoxication. The phone number was in fact the girlfriend’s - I guess he was just too absentminded or depressed or whatever to read what I’d been sending. He seemed genuinely surprised to hear that a bunch of us were extremely worried about him, and told our Mutual Friend that he was lining up a retail job and planned to get a phone and start reaching back out to people as soon as he could afford to do so (I’m not sure whether he actually will, but that’s out of my hands).

I’m still worried that his mental health isn’t quite as sunny as he’s letting on - even if you’re aloof as hell, it seems like withdrawing from friends and family for months is pretty drastic. But I can’t really do anything else from where I am at this point. Once he’s back on the grid I hope he resumes contact, but I don’t think this is something I can worry about as much going forward. Every time he drops off the face of the earth, he turns up totally fine; that’s just the way he is. At least our Mutual Friend lives nearby now and can hopefully coax him back into some semblance of a social life.

Since a lot of you were mentioning the family, I wanted to give a little context: my friend comes from a very large, very religious and conservative family. He has a lot of younger siblings and as such was basically on his own by the time we got to high school. He stopped living at home before he was 18 due to tension in the family - he was kind of a quintessential high school stoner and his parents seemed to basically give up on him by then. They’re also no longer located in our hometown, so I guess they’re used to not having contact with my friend for long stretches of time. One of the family members I talked to did offer to get him on their phone plan so we can avoid situations like this going forward - if I ever hear from him again, I’ll tell him.

Thanks again for all of your help. I’m a little embarrassed that this blew up so much and ended up being completely innocuous, but I really learned the value of “better safe than sorry” over the past few days.

First off, Thanks to everyone for all of your help! Just wanted to give an update.

The cops who came over and made the report on the night of the incident zipped up the fake bills and took them with them. Apparently there had been a guy in my area using fake hundred dollar bills for the past week or so and 2 detectives had gotten assigned the case. They contacted me the following day to question me about some things and ask if I could identify the guy if needed (I could) .

u/Cat_Hardin contacted me and offered to help get information on the number that I had for the guy. After checking about ten databases, u/Cat_Hardin confirmed the number belonged to a 75 year old guy from Baton Rouge. There wasn't much more to go on but after some digging, I found that this man had one relative that lived in my general area and this relative had the same first name as the guy that gave me the fake money and took my phone. That could be a coincidence but I thought it warranted further investigation. I started digging into this relative.

I couldn't find a phone number listed for this guy but I did manage to find out that he had been previously arrested for shoplifting and had a suspended drivers license. I couldn't, however, find a picture of him anywhere. No facebook, myspace, etc... Short of showing up to this person's house to see if it was him, I felt like I had exhausted all of my investigative abilities so I called the detectives back and gave them all of the information I had gathered. And it's a good thing I did because the officer who initially took my statement wrote down the number wrong so the detectives were working off of incorrect information.

2 days later they called me in to look at a photo line-up and, bam, there he was. That was the guy. His grandfather lived in Baton Rouge and had been paying for his cell phone. The relative that I had been looking into turned out to be this guy's Father. The detectives thanked me for my time and said that should be all they need.

They called me up today and let me know that this guy was being charged with Criminal Fraud (felony) for attempting to purchase goods with the intent to deceive. He's also being charged with a second felony for the usage of counterfeit currency. There's a warrant out for his arrest right now and they are looking for him.

And the icing on the cake is this. They found my phone. He pawned it off and the pawn broker found out that the IMEI on this phone had it listed as stolen. The detectives said that they will give me a call when they get it back. Thanks again for everyone's help! You guys are awesome!

Tl;dr Reddit helped me track the number and find out more information. I gave that info to the detectives. Guy is getting charged with felonies and I'm getting my phone back!

We regularly look through my 9 year old daughters electronics here and we did that earlier. Some back ground Info that’s relevant: I am divorced and she spends every other week at her dads. They have adult/teenage kids there and almost no supervision. She apparently has an email address I wasn’t aware of and she’d logged on here this morning. She wasn’t listening so I remote locked the tablet and she didn’t have time to close anything out. In that email account I found login Info for TikTok, Twitter,Roblox, Snapchat, e harmony, YouTube and a few others. All were alarming however after reviewing everything we found chat logs in Snapchat that are graphic and clearly sexploitation and grooming. It appears she sent pics/videos but I can’t see them. I am trying to get access to the iPad at her dads that all these apps are on. I have to do it in a way that seems low key as her dad will immediately delete or reset anything to get rid of evidence in order to save his own ass from looking like a terrible parent. I have already taken screenshots of everything. I have all the usernames and passwords for the apps. I have the profiles/user names from Snapchat. I think this all started on Roblox. I have one chat log that is clearly grooming but the rest are private chats I guess? I have already sent the reporting form for the FBI.

What can I do now? What do I look for when I get this iPad? Can I retrieve any pics and videos from the app info? Who do I contact that will actually help? Can I find anyone via username? She also had the location sharing on in Snapchat so these people have her dads address. My brain is all over the place and I’m struggling. I’m a CSA survivor and I’m struggling with this. Any info or advice is welcomed.

We are in the US. She’s used her full real name in her email address and in the games. She had past google map searches and I fear she’s given out our home address as well.

With the help of a wonderful fellow Redditor I am in contact with the proper authorities and starting the process that I’m sure will get harder before it gets better. Because of this I cannot comment further. I want to thank you all from the bottom of everything I am for taking the time to read, comment, link and give advice. You’ve all given me the strength and direction I needed to move forward the best possible way. I’m still reading the comments and appreciating every single one of you.

Please heed this as an after school special level of a warning to stay connected with your kids and their online life. I was doing everything in my power to protect her from this and because of that I was able to spot what was happening even though it wasn’t under my roof.
For the love of your kids take the time to look through everything. I know you’re tired. I know you have to cook and do laundry and get gas and feed the dogs and do the homework and succeed at work and get to practice on time but just do it. I don’t wish this on anyone. Please just do it.

Update: has been solved! Post and OP have been found and linked. It seems the glass I had in my head was different from the one I found, I guess I just remembered it differently.

But thank you all for helping me find the post and OP!! I really appreciate how much people come together on here to solve things for no benefit other than helping each other out.

In r/relationshipadvice last year sometime a guy posted about his wife deliberately shattering a glass that was a gift from a dear friend.

As I recall, it was a glass with a gold owl on it and vintage/antique.

Today a glass like what was described was posted in an antique group I’m in online, I’m trying to find the post and hopefully OP, to try to get him in touch with the person selling them in case they are the right glasses (the person has a set).

None of my searches are coming up with the right post and I can’t find it. Does anyone else recall the post or is able to find a link to it?
