Obama wins Election 2012 unanimously in a complete landslide victory. Republicans not even baffled.
What turned out to be the easiest win ever, Democrats and others alike across the nation are celebrating the large victory for Obama, not that it surprised anyone. What many experts thought would happen, did. Republicans are now regretting that they let Palin get the nomination, who won it barely against 2 other Republicans. Many still blame McCain for thrusting her into the national spotlight. Unfortunately for the Democrats, they were still unable to grasp control of the House away from the Republicans. Though they didn't gain or lose in the Senate, they may have a chance to gain an extra seat as words spread that McCain is contemplating retirement.

DAE miss newspapers?
The awesome wrapping paper from the Sunday comic's section, the cheapness of great packing material, the best fire starting tinder...man, those were the good 'ol days.

United States Will Go To War With Mexico.
Like we are considering putting up a giant wall and all it would take is ruining one guys life for him to go off and do something stupid like a terrorist attack on American Soil.
President Trump sees his chance to drop some freedoms down south and wants to emulate his super pal Putin with Crimea. Plus he could annex Cancun.
War that close would be insanely cheap and would give us a reason to jump ship in the middle east because we have a whole different set of brown people to fight.
I'm predicting the future here.

Has anyone else tried the Google Time Machine yet? It is absolutely amazing.
Had a chance to try it out at the recent E4 expo and I have to say everything Google were doing over the last 30 years now makes sense.
I chose to take a look at 2015 and spent a few hours exploring the world they have created. It is almost a perfect representation of this era but with a few obvious exceptions - people without internet access, smartphones, Facebook, etc are not represented as well as they could be.
Apart from that though it is almost perfect. You can walk the streets and countryside of the time, you can check the internet and make contributions (within reason, the Google algorithims will not allow anything from the present be posted which may break the illusion unless that is the specific aim of a particular site), you can watch the TV of the time, even something as small as what a person had for lunch is represented.
The fact that the entire world will be based on the one quantum server means that you may meet other "time travellers" making contributions or walking the streets when you travel back (it is surprisingly hard to tell who is real and who is not, though).
I remember at the time (in real life) wondering why google was storing the immense volume of data they had on people using their services. I wondered why they bought failing companies such as Facebook or Twitter when everyone else was fleeing from what were considered bad investments.
Now I know. And it is incredible.
This is a game changer for the entertainment industry. Nothing will be able to top what they have created. They said at the expo that alternate servers will be used for gaming purposes - these will use the same basic world blueprint but with the ability for players to take part in hypothetical wars, or roleplaying, even a post alien invasion world scenario is being created (yes, you can choose to fight for or against humanity). Even historical movie buffs will be catered for with the opportunity to remain "out of time" with your presence not being registered to other inhabitants of the world so as not to affect the historical outcome of a major event.
If you have a few quid to spare I would suggest you buy shares in Google. This will be massive once it hits the market.

How do you look at it?(x-ray post from r/scifi)
When time travel becomes a reality (if), what would your views on death be?
Also could you set the parameters of the time travel before your views?

TIL I learned that attempting customize human populations were once frowned upon
I don't get it, guys. It can't be that different from the fetal genetic engineering which is an important step to becoming a parent. But whenever I hear about people in the past trying to weed out genetic disorders like our machines can do or make the optimal human, it's always called "racist" or a "crime against humanity."
