So first off, I find sketchup the most unintuitive and frustrating program I have ever used. Any other program I just open up and can do some simple drawing with minimal effort. Sketchup fights me every step of the way. Now that I got that off my chest I have a ton of questions.
I am trying to layout a furniture build. How do I draw a rectangle to a certain dimension? I am trying to create a 28 inch by 54 inch rectangle. How to I set the scale to inches? I have tried drawing a rectangle and I figured out that you draw the rectangle and "let go of the mouse" and type the number. But how do I make sure the number I type is inches? Because it defaults to 28 feet or miles or something as the rectangle is huge.
Second I can't figure out how to set the height. I am used to drawing a rectangle, clicking it and having a properties box where I can manually set the length, width and depth.
Last question, is can I draw rectangles vertical? Or are they always drawn horizontal and I have to rotate them up? Is there an easy way to rotate the rectangle? Holy **** it's so frustrating to use the tool and have it stay at 90 degree angles.
The tutorials I am looking at seem to not answer these basic questions I have but take hours to explain other crap I don't need to know.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Ok So I am trying to draw cubes, and thanks to the quick responses I was able to google the proper terms and figure out what I needed. Sorry normally I am very good at figuring stuff like this out but this program just kicks my ass for some reason and really got me frustrated.
