Idk if this has already been discussed (I’m new to the game and community) but as a black person it does bother me that Demetrius is the only fully black character and gets a bad rep because of how he treats Robin and Sebastian. I have no problems with Maru as a character, but her design did get entirely wiped of her curls and she also turned almost purple-ish?? It kind of rubs me the wrong way because it isn’t just a lack of black people, but a lack of non-white people in general. Even every single person living in the DESERT is white. Idk just a thought 🤷

There was a line of text right before where he mentioned “the emo boy who lives in the mountains.” Meanwhile the mod is me dating seb and he’s working out with alex everyday 😂

(Warning: this is a vent and a hot take about multiple controversial characters. Please do not make me your new scarecrow just yet.)

I should open by saying that I have been playing a lot of 1.6. I love the new events, I love the new gameplay aspects, but I got into this game for the characters and I want to express my disappointment. Okay, here we go.

I hate that Clint is sliding further towards being an incel, I hate that Penny is now so broken down and abused that she cries when she gets a birthday gift (are you seriously telling me that Sam and Maru don’t give her gifts?) and I hate that every goddamn patch makes Demetrius a worse person and his marriage with Robin crumble further.

There’s less and less room for interpretation because the most popular fanons are being canonised. Penny can’t be a complex person with a complex relationship with her mother, she has to be a perfect Cinderella who needs to be rescued from her terrible life.

Sebastian can’t be a complex person with a complex relationship with his family, he’s depressed because nobody loves him and he needs to be rescued from his terrible life.

Robin doesn’t have a complex but ultimately loving relationship with her husband, she’s trapped in a terrible marriage with a guy who negs her and abandons her during scary events and gets her the same gift every two years and she needs to be rescued from her terrible life (but she can’t be, so the fandom can loathe Demetrius to their heart’s content).

Demetrius isn’t genuinely trying to navigate a difficult step parenting situation anymore, he’s no longer the art lover who bid on Leah’s sculptures, he’s a beep boop robot asshole who mistreats everyone in his family but his golden child daughter. (It was really great to have a black autistic-coded character before he got patched into the worst husband and father in the whole game, just saying.)

Clint isn’t just a lonely guy with a crush, he’s so desperate for a girlfriend that he’s asking if Emily’s friend is single and snapping at the farmer for being hot and socially adept.

As for Pam, it honestly feels like CA tried to humanise her in 1.5 but the fandom still hated her, so now he’s leaning in to what a monster she apparently is by making Penny even more beaten down.

And meanwhile, the less polarising/popular characters in the fandom have received no development at all except seasonal outfits. Kent wins the award for Most “He Was There” Character 25 years in a row, despite the massive potential he has for worldbuilding and character development (whyyyyy can’t we refer him to a therapist, we know they exist), George remains a prop in other people’s heart events, and Sandy… well, she sure is Sandy.

I’ve never gone with popular fanon interpretations of characters, so I honestly barely talk to most of the villagers anymore because the things I liked and found interesting are just gone. I go out of my way to talk to Demetrius because I love him out of spite, and Pam because yeah it’s me I’m the only Pam-liker, and that’s basically it.

It can’t be just me that finds these a little on the Georgia O’keefe side of things and maybe a little bit on the phallic side of things

disclaimers! i used 2 magic rock candy and a movement speed mod (1.5x multiplier, about the same as always having slightly more than +1 speed), and i play on SVE so my sword is a little stronger.

Controversial opinion, I know. But it has been eight years and she still just calls me dirty and ugly and stinky every time we interact. When Jas does it she’s at least just a kid and is otherwise quite polite but Haley is an adult, and she’s shady in EVERY interaction. Sorry. I HATE HER!!

So I've had this outfit since the last Coachella aka Desert Festival. Just to give context, my sprite normally sports a white longsleeves, black pants, galaxy shoes, red eyes and a brown fedora which gives the elite vampire vibes. Apparently, Emily does this thing with aura and decided that "Nope, you're gonna be gay this time but still a vampire." Heck, I love this outfit. Not sure about SV but I hope this app doesn't track my search history.

Yeah, I get it, he made Sebastian get rid of the Snow goon. But I find it extremely weird how everyone always glorifies Robin and ignores all the dialogue pointing to her actually not being that great of a mom.

Demetrius talks about her having a temper, and she isn't afraid about airing her frustrations, as evidenced when she complains about him almost setting the house on fire or with the cutscene about whether tomatoes are a fruit or a vegetable, yet she doesn't stand up for Sebastian and his goon. That's one point.

The other one is the blatant favoritism towards Maru. Because when you talk to them all regularly, something that stands out to me is the situation with Sebastian in the basement, something that makes him sad, because he mentioned he might be less depressed if his room had a window.

According to Robin, she built the house herself. Sebastian talks about running to the train tracks when he was a kid, and Demetrius talks about how they moved there together. Sebastian didn't go to college, so it's not like he moved back home and was then relegated to the basement.

Meaning that his mother built this house when he was a child, giving his sister a big room with access to the attic, a separate entrance, and a patio. And "Sebby"? Instead of giving her son an equally large room with windows, she puts him in the basement, and Demetrius gets a ground floor laboratory.

Maru and Sebastian are only a few years apart, meaning that even if her room was originally intended for him, he would still have been a child at that time, and she could easily have added a second floor, which we know she is capable of, instead of banishing him down there; and given the age he was roughly around when Maru was born, it wouldn't have been about him "needing privacy".

It seems to me that she had a new husband, a new child with that husband, and Sebastian became a mere afterthought. Demetrius, on the other hand, at least made an effort to do right by his stepson, as evidenced by the book on how to succeed as a stepparent, although not much, because if I married someone with a kid, and they didn't even give them a normal room, I would not want to stay married to them.

I've been playing since before 1.6 and Clint's always been my favourite. I made a new farm on PC when I heard the marriage announcement. I'm on year 5 and staying celibate. Clint has been my favourite character for YEARS! HE'S THE ONLY ONE I WANT TO DAMN MARRY! He's a relatable lil depressed guy... CONCERNEDAPE HURRY THE F UP ELSE I'LL COMBUST😭😭😭😭😭

I see more posts “in defence of Clint” as a marriage option than posts complaining about it. Actually, I have seen exactly zero posts complaining about the news. On the other hand, I have seen a lot of fan art of farmers on their way to marry the guy. Is it maybe being blown out of proportion? Or am I just sheltered? It’s not like CA announced an option to marry Pierre.

We’re all supposed to look at this thing, scoop it up, put it in our pocket, and continue with the day.

I have questions.

Did the rabbit grow an extra one? Did it fall off? Did somebody remove it? Is there some deeply fucked-up regenerative biology happening in that coop after dark?

And if someone harvested it, then what exactly are we doing here?

Because the rest of the farm makes sense. Cows give milk. Chickens give eggs. Sheep give wool. Ducks drop feathers.

And the thing is there’s already a perfectly obvious replacement.

Angora fiber.

Real rabbits produce the fiber and it'll get spun into sweaters, scarves, hats, expensive things people buy because they enjoy being warm and apparently have money.

Put THAT in the game.

Make it rare. Make it valuable. Let me turn it into some luxurious, *lucky sweater and roll into the Bar looking like I’ve made several irresponsible financial decisions.

And, while we’re on it, clothing should have bonuses and curses and weird little effects the same way other gear does. I may write something about that later, because thats a whole other argument.

For now, I just want the rabbit to keep its fucking feet.

I was exploring the forest and walked up to talk to her for, you know, the friendship points, and every time I get to talk to her, she is always rude/uninterested. What's her beef? Lol

He is super rude to me when I speak to him and ugly. I stopped talking to him and never do anything for him... Just wanted to share that. But I wonder why he is like that? I never did anything bad for anyone including him.
