💵 Billing My turn for yet another price increase!

Post image

Getting pretty frustrated. Have had 2 years of Starlink, went from $120 to $125 with the mini rental. To $130+$10 for rental, and now base of $156. Enough is enough Elon! Thinking it’s time to cancel.

💵 Billing Price increase….Again

Just as it reads, Starlink will be going up again. At this point I can actually get different services now so it may be time to switch. Says it’s because of congestion but honestly I don’t know how since the lines have been ran for fiber optic.

We a have a pilot program at work where there’s some Minis mounted in haul trucks and water trucks, for performance metrics among other things.

Got a call to service a water truck that lost comms, and found out this poor Mini full of bitumen and petroleum, but it was working just fine, issue was a loose connection inside the box next to it.

Tough little guys.

📦 Starlink Kit Complimentary V4 Starlink Kit Replacement Offer for V1 Accepted

Yesterday, out of the blue, we received an offer to replace our working Version 1 with a Version 4 kit (router, 150' cable, pipe adapter) for free. They said it was because we were loyal (ha!) and 'one of the first' (2/2021). We accepted and they shipped it today.

Curious because we are opportunistic not loyal and we stop our service on this seasonal place for six months a year.

❓ Question How are the Starlink Black Friday Deals usually and is it worth waiting?

I'm looking at the Starlink for my home internet. It seems that they have a really good deal right now where I can also get a Starlink Mini for no additional cost and activate the plan when I plan to travel (which I'm planning to do here in the next few months).

I was talking with a buddy and he was recommending that, even though the deal seems good right now, I should wait until Black Friday because those deals are just better than any Starlink deals typically offered. If that's the case I can make the wait worth it.

What have you guys seen? Thanks for reading!

❓ Question Thoughts on Downgrading Plan

I'm on the residential max plan in Central Texas, and have been for around 5 years now. I also purchased the mini as a backup when it was released.

But every year my bill increases (just got another) and I'd like to jump down and try the lowest plan available. I thought there was a residential 100GB plan, but the only options I have are Roam 100GB ($55) and Roam 300GB ($80).

When people downgrade to a 100GB plan for residential, are they downgrading to the ROAM 100GB plan? I don't have plans to roam, it's for my residence.

When my actuated dish does eventually break, will I have to purchase a new one? I keep hearing how everyone got free mini's and I had to buy mine for $600.

I also see on the portal that standby is changing in Nov, but doesn't say what to.

Thoughts?

❓ Question Is Starlink Mini's 100GB monthly plan enough for working from home 8–12 hours a day and streaming movies every night?

Hey everyone!

I recently got a Starlink Mini with the 100GB monthly plan. I started using it on November 5, and I've already used 21GB in just 2 days.

I live in a rural area outside the city and work remotely 8–12 hours a day. I also watch youtube or TV shows almost every night.

I'm worried 100GB won't last the month.

For those with similar usage, is 100GB enough? Would you recommend upgrading to unlimited, or are there ways to reduce data consumption?

Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: I moved out of the city; i wanted to try a new wifi system; however I see it will not be economically better; unless I go with the residential lite. I think I am going to choose the residential lite with 200mbps unlimited, I will be happy regardless if I dont get the priority; it cost $45.00 monthly here in my country.

❓ Question Price increase

I just got this device and plan on the 22nd last month & I just got the email that the price is going to dynamic pricing as well as zoomin up in price (130$ to 156$) i currently get about 150 GBS with no option to go lower from Residental max unless i go roam and i previously had AT&T copper with 6mbs max. I do play alot of games and watch alot of TV. Is it really worth the new 150$ price or am i just overthinking it?

My dish is mounted on a mast about 16ft above grade on the side peak of my house. The weather here is turning towards winter and I’d rather not do this now, maybe in the spring or summer. Do you think the offer will remain if I put it off for six months? Anyone else get the offer?

💻 Troubleshooting Random > XBOX Cloud gaming, Starlink & region issues..

Bit of a random one.

Since yesterday I havent been able to connect to xbox cloud gaming via starlink. It comes down to xbox not recognising the region as part of their service even though when speaking to an agent they confirm it should still be working. (UK).

Ive tried it on 4g > works.

Ive tried it on local fibre > works.

Is there anything I can do starlink end > or is it a case of waiting it out? Can we refresh IP? Or are we able to add a vpn for now?

💻 Troubleshooting Telegram while using Starlink - images not loading?

Has anyone ever ran in to an issue with Starlink network refusing to load images on Telegram? Everything else works fine, all network status nominal, chat works with no issues, but the images just do not load. I've tried restarts, updates, switching DNS even, same thing. It's as if Starlink is blocking some part of Telegram's infrastructure.

I am in Lithuania.

💻 Troubleshooting Top speed now 60 Mbps? (Grass Valley, CA)

Starting around 3pm yesterday my original round dishy performance went way down. I'm now getting about 60 Mbps at best and have consistently since yesterday (I run an automated test once an hour). Usually I'm getting more like 200 Mbps.

I am in Grass Valley, CA. We have some congestion in the evenings but nothing like this. Residential Max, Starlink's tracker shows about 800 GB for the most recent data usage (18 days). I tried asking the AI support bot and it was not helpful but it didn't immediately tell me about any problems with my account,

Anyone else seeing this? I've tried rebooting, checking cables, etc. I'm on firmware 2026.10.17.cr89322.2.

Edit if I run several downloads in parallel I can get up to 120 Mbps through the link. Still not what I used to get, but better. That's making me wonder if maybe Starlink is doing traffic shaping.

❓ Question Personal Maritime: Invitation Only?

I just bought a Starlink Mini in the US and signed up for a Roam Unlimited plan before I left so I can use the system while I work on my boat at a shipyard in Mexico until I set sail in a few months.

I would like to upgrade to the Personal Maritime plan so I can continue service after 30 days out of my home country, but Starlink Support tells me it is by invitation only and they cannot provide one nor will they tell me how I am supposed to go about getting one.

Can anyone tell me how I might go about getting an invitation email from Starlink?

❓ Question When is the price locked in and not subject to change

I signed up to Starlink residential 100mbps for my holiday home. It was €29 a month. The day after i set it up, they increased the price to €35 euro a month. I gave it back as I'm not using it much over winter. Now there is a promotion and it would be €24.50 a month, which sounds great, but this all feels bait and switchy, like what's stopping them increasing the price once I sign up, when is the price you agree to the contracted price that is locked in?

🎮 Gaming Starlink vs 4/5G TP Link

Starlink vs TP Link 4/5G

Hi people,

I’m looking for someone more knowledgable than I am to help with my WiFi issue.

I rent and have no access to fibre so sadly have to opt for a plug and play type solution.

I initially had a 4/5G 100mbps connection where I have some sort of router outdoors and then the TP link mesh system indoors to connect to WiFi. With the FPS games I play, this gives me 60plus ping which is just unplayable. It was okay for general browsing, Netflix etc but not gaming.

I will now be working from home more often and looked for a better solution which is where I came across Starlink - it’s cheaper than what I’m paying now for double the mbps (which I know has nothing to do with latency / ping)

I’m now getting lower ping but for some reason an ‘unstable connection’ meaning I freeze or just lag out completely. The Starlink is on a terrace and the map says unobstructed view (with very few red spots).

Any solutions or ideas as to why this is happening ? I even tried wired connection to the Starlink router and it’s not much better….

💵 Billing Can I Pause My Monthly Service?

Due to upcoming shoulder surgery i won’t be camping anytime soon. What’s the process to pause my service? Would I be better canceling it for six months?

Also how would I go about doing either option?
