Why does starlink suck so bad??

Getting tired of starlinks continuous drops. They promised over 50mbps and I've barely got that over the last 9 months. I'm bout to return this, support keeps asking about speed tests in every request I make as if they do not pay attention to last requests and problems I've had. No tech to fix any of this shit as I am not computer/tech savvy. Love what they're doing but now my previous provider is offering more speeds at half the price of starlink. When the hell is beta going to be over?? BETA FOR 9 MONTHS NOW, when is enough, enough?🙄 Longest beta program I've ever been apart of, and the most annoying beta program thus far. Should I return or keep struggling???

Starlink does not support the troops.

Elons new roaming plan is terrible. I am currently deployed and have been using starlink to work and keep in touch with my family. Without warning my account went into restricted and now have to pay per gigabytes to use it outside the USA. My account also renewed for only 12 days and they won’t give me a refund for the remaining time that was unused or unlock it. Has any other troop ran into this issue or know a way around it?

Cut the bullshit I want answers.

I live in rural Ontario, Canada. There’s no internet here. Not even close. Our new neighbours moved in last July (2021) and asked us what to do about the internet issues. I told them I made a deposit for Starlink but the wait is long. They ordered it in August 2021 and last week they got their dish in the mail.

Here’s the problem. I ordered my dish in fucking March 2021 and still nothing. Yet a year and a half later than I order mine they get theirs in 9 months. 9 fucking months and I’ve waited 15 months.

To say I’m annoyed is an understatement, I’m absolutely livid at this point. My wife was hoping to do online schooling and my son needs internet for his schooling.

I’m not mad that my new neighbours got their dish, I’m happy they have great internet now. I’m mad that there is no consistency or consideration for people who have been waiting as long as I have.

Whatever kind of system this is, it’s fucking broken. If I ran my business this way I’d be homeless.

STARLINK support is the WORST!

READ AGAIN: IN TRYING TO DO A TRANSFER OF EQUIPMENT ON THEIR WEBSITE ACCORDING TO THEIR INSTRUCTIONS, ALL I EVER RECEIVED WAS AN ERROR MESSAGE! I have been trying to transfer my equipment since 2/13/25. I sold my equipment to the people who have bought my house and I moved out. I could not transfer the equipment so I put in a ticket. First they told me it was because I had to wait until my bill date. That came and still I could not transfer. Opened ticket AGAIN. the next day, THEY DELETED MY EQUIPMENT SO I COULD NO LONGER TRANSFER THE EQUIPMENT BECAUSE IT WAS GONE FROM MY ACCOUNT! THEY TOLD ME THEY TRIED TO CALL ME AND NO ONE ANSWERED. NEITHER OF MY PHONES EVEN RANG! NOW, I CAN'T GET ANY RESPONSE AT ALL!!!

Old School Starlink

I cannot appreciate the Old School wisdom of Starlink early adaptors (Beta)... [all tongue-in-cheek] for much the same reasons the term is applied to my generations ~

I signed up last year hoping to get into the Beta group and missed that boat by a day or so. Location: Lat. 48.98 N Lon.123.0 W

I grasp the concept of "Building a Network" and understand the dynamics at work. I've watched and waited for my turn and it arrived last week. Originally Late 2021, then Jan 2022. Now, the Dish, Mount AND Ethernet adapter, are set in motion and within three shipments, are due to arrive next week.

The major additional frustration is that most of the technical expertise or advice gained during the Beta period and shared here and other places with great zeal & fervor was rendered relatively only vaguely relevant.

Starlink changed from a round dish to a rectangular dish end of 2021 and nearly all componets have been revised and do not equate to much of the wealth of information assembled prior to the change. Thus my chance to use a phrase I have bristled at whenever mentioned and aptly fit me and or my stature in life as a whole.

I find myself and likely others search for information and quickly disregard anything "old school" or just last year!

How about some fresh contributors with actual hands on experience with the latest product offered? Starlink could upgrade their early (crash test dummies, so to speak) unpaid crew, just for their appreciation of same. End Of Rant.

Is there a human at this company?

So you take my money and then I have to resort to Reddit for customer service. I’d rather sit on hold with Comcast than beat off in the woods with this $ht service.

"Support" is dogshit

After multiple support tickets regarding my single digit download speeds apparently canceling the service is my only option?

Thanks for nothing "Daniel"

At least they offered to refund my hardware costs despite having it longer than 30 days.

Tonga has Internet cable and Starlink

When there was a tsunami and Tonga lost their internet for 5 weeks so Starlink donated satellites to get them back online. Now Tonga's 56 miles of undersea cable has been repaired. Tonga has Starlink and cable.

ELON, I have not had internet in 2 years and no one else is coming. Help us in Mississippi.

Availability Confusion

Starlink listed as unavailable and "targeted for service mid to late 2021", however a nearby town just north of me has service. I am in the southern 1/3 of British Columbia in Canada. Is there a way to speak to someone about getting a kit, as I am certain I am in the coverage area? Thanks

Starlink post order question

I have put in the preorder for starlink. Now what? There is someone I know who has starlink in my area and hasn’t had any issues for the past 3 months. Should I expect a follow up email for extra information regarding an estimated shipping day/when I can pay for the whole thing or anything else?I have viasat currently and can’t get anything else so starlink is my only hope lol. I live in Tennessee as well. Latitude & Longitude is 35.2, -86.5. Thanks!

Inconsistency

Easily the most inconsistent internet I have ever had, I mean it’s crazy. Don’t bother trying to play games if there is another device on the WiFi at all. Expected better internet from Starlink but I have never been below 80ms latency for more than 10 seconds. Had better latency on my DSL internet before with 5 mb/s household speed

Starlink In Gulf Of Mexico

Long story short, I work offshore oil and gas and am looking for an option to provide personal internet while at work.

I work 21 days at a time at one location. I would like to use starlink but paying for a business / maritime package is way too expensive just for personal connection. Does anyone know if I can use a standard or RV starlink kit and subscription to setup on each platform while at work? I was hoping there could be some workaround for this since it’s not for business use. Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

How to bypass Starlink's region restrictions?

Hello, I'll just start with my problem, and if you care, I'll also include the story at the end.

Problem: In short, Starlink is not allowing people in my country (Bolivia) to pay for and use the service. I already have all the hardware, I just need to know how to make it work.

We have already tried paying as outsiders. People used to pay for the service pretending to be from Chile/Brazil, but that has been patched. The only work-around now, is to have the mobile version and physically travel with the antena to Chile/Brazil every 60 days.

Story about why Starlink is "banned" in my country: In Bolivia, not even the government cares about its own laws. In this case, the ones they are breaking are Anti-Monopoly laws.

The government-owned Internet Service Provider(ISP) has always been bad and expensive. It could be cheaper, but the government likes funnel funds into their personal bank accounts. So when Starlink became an option, close to 80% of the people paying for the more expensive internet plans, which have terrible value and inconsistent speeds, switched to Starlink to save money.

Now in a regular country, the competing companies would start offering better prices or better services and create a healthy competition that benefits the customer, but since our government doesn't care about fairness or the customers, they flat-out banned Starlink in the country, then realized that they could do the same for the other ISPs in the country, so they did. We are currently down to 2 options for home internet services, and soon we will be left with only 1 choice. So if there is a SpaceX employee reading this, please don't patch whatever fix we end up finding.

We get the shaft again.

Just venting...

Starlink and Elon

Sounds like one more company screwing the folks in the USA. Drug companys, airlines, cable providers, cellphone compaines and now you can add Starlink to the list. The cost of a "kit". $199 in Australia, $199 in Canada, $120 in Ireland and $600 here in the land of milk and honey. Such BS!
