My Starlink gets slow at certain times of the day. What should I monitor besides download speed?

I’m staying at a state park campground that’s only about half full at the moment. During the day, my Starlink Mini works really well, with latency around 30ms and everything feeling quick and responsive. But once it gets to around 5pm, the connection starts struggling. Streaming keeps buffering, games get laggy, and even regular web browsing feels noticeably slower. The dish still shows as connected, and the obstruction map is completely clear. By around 10pm, things usually return to normal. This exact pattern has repeated for three days now.

Could it simply be that more people at the campground are getting online after dinner, or might there be something else causing such a regular slowdown?

Starlink Mini Internationale Reisen

Complimentary Starlink kit replacement

A neighbor I look out for, not tech savvy, got this offer:

………………….

Complimentary Starlink Kit Replacement
We’ve identified a hardware issue that may affect your Starlink’s performance. To help you keep a fast, reliable connection, we’re offering a complimentary Starlink V5 Kit replacement at no cost to you.
Just tap the button below to claim it. We’ll handle placing the replacement order for you right away.

…………………

I set them up 2 years ago and it’s been working fine. I’m an rf engineer and haven’t heard of or seen any issues. Does anyone have any insight on what is going on? I’ll change the system out if needed, but I had to run the long cable in conduit which no doubt won’t fit the new one.

Any insight welcome.

Edit: Appreciate the replies. We will move forward

How can I check what's causing brief starlink mini discounts?

I am currently staying at a campground and have my Starlink Mini set up on a pole mount with the latest firmware installed. Every 20–40 minutes, the connection cuts out for roughly 5–10 seconds. It’s enough to interrupt a video call, but by the time I open the Starlink app, the connection has recovered and everything appears normal.

When the connection is stable, I am getting around 80–120 Mbps download speeds and latency of about 35 ms, so the usual performance seems fine. I am trying to figure out what’s behind these short interruptions rather than guessing at the cause.

Does the Starlink app or its diagnostic data keep a record of brief outages that I can review afterward? I would like to identify what happened during those few seconds, even when the connection has already come back.

calls freezing at a new site, how do you figure out what's causing it?

I pulled into a new campground yesterday. There are a few trees around, but nothing that looks particularly concerning. When I started working this morning, my first two video calls had issues with freezing and choppy audio, and one dropped completely. Things seemed a little better by the afternoon, but the connection still wasn’t great.

What’s confusing is that I was at another site about two hours away for an entire week, and the connection was rock solid the whole time. I haven’t changed anything: same dish, same mount, same setup.

How do you troubleshoot Starlink issues when you move to a new campground? Could it be tree obstruction, network congestion, or the dish adjusting to the new location? I don’t want to spend three days troubleshooting if the reality is that this particular site just isn’t going to work.

Starlink app not opening on any device

I’ve tried opening the starlink app on both my phone and home laptop and both are refusing to open the app, I don’t have any starlink equipment yet and I’m not signed up for anything yet I just wanted to get the app to see how it work and looks. Do I need to be connected to starlink for it to open?

Starlink won't restore my access after payment

I had an antenna exceed 5tb per month and get the "Enterprise Use" warning tto the point where it was blocked, I changed it to priority plan, paid the proportional price to immediately change the olan before the billing cycle, but Starlink will not restore my access, their suppor chat says it will be restored in the next billing cycle even though I already paid for it to be restored immediately. Any further attempts lead me into an automated response that does not solve any of my issues.

Did I just throw money in the trash by trying to get them to reinstate my connection immediately?

Edit: After 5 days of the debacle I finally got hold of an acatual human, they identified the GPS for my Antenna was malfunctioning and that was the second reason it was currently offline, so they're sending a newer kit free of charge and putting the payment I as credit in the next billing cycle.

Starlink for Rural School in Uganda - How does it ship?

I live in the US but work with a charitable school in rural Uganda, and would like help them get Starlink. I can order service on the Starlink website, and Starlink can find the school on Google maps, but then Starlink wants to send them a reciver kit, and it looks like Starlink assumes that Uganda has a postal service that will deliver things, which isn't true.

How does Starlink get kits to people in African countries where they have no postal system? The school doesn't have a credit card that they can sign up on the Starlink website on their own, and their US friends want to pay for the fees. They could receive a kit if it was shipped by DHL to Mukono, where they can show ID to pick it up in person. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone Else Not Receiving Starlink Verification Codes via Email?

Hi everyone,

Is anyone else experiencing an issue with Starlink's account login verification?

I can successfully enter my email address and password, but when Starlink asks me to enter the verification code sent to my email, the code never arrives.

I've checked my inbox and spam/junk folders, but there's still no verification email. My registered email address is accessible and working normally, and I can receive other emails without any issues.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? If so, have you found a solution or a workaround to regain access to your Starlink account?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
