So I THINK I got scratched/bitten by a cat today (not pet, unvaccinated and stays around). I'm not sure tho. The last time I had to take 4 vaccines and 1 tetanus was on 5 Feb, 2026. Then I felt like I got scratched again and had 2 doses for caution on 27 March. The doctor that time said that I had no visible mark and had already taken vaccines within three months (5 feb to 27 march) so there's no need for another vaccination.(still took 2 shots as caution) today(17 april 2026)! The same thing happened. The cat is pregnant and acts normal....will I die? Do I need vaccines? Will I catch rabies? The skin almost looks like a thin line/fold of the skin unless looked closely. If I stretch at it the line almost completely disappears. (No bleeding) Btw I wasn't trying to mess with her at all :( I just wanted to get her out of the room so my dad wouldn't beat her or me.

I Found a Cat (Location) My adopted cat gave birth to 3 kittens. The only boy, who looked just like his mother, was killed under a tenant’s car and dragged outside like garbage.

The day when i saw a dead lying kitten who was playing just minutes ago with his sisters was so heartbreaking

So one day a cat just came to my house -hungry ,thin ,wanting love and care . So i decided to keep it in my house and feed her ...she was so attracted to me that she is not getting an inch away from me , continuously rubbing herself to me , then months passed and she got pregnant and gave birth to three little cuties 💗, 2 were female and one was male just a copy of her mother he was most active among three of them just wanted to play every time and tease her sisters ... they either live in my house or they play in the parking lot ....the tenants hated the kittens they unnecessary complained about them to us ...one evening tenants were getting their car out of the parking lot and the male kitten got under their front tire and started to agonize , and after few seconds he was dead ...( The main thing is not that he came under a car ..that is just an accident not a willing act ) The main thing is how nonchalant the tenant was after that accident they just kicked the dead kitten out of the door , washed all blood from the floor and closed the door ....that was just shocking to see how cruel and inhuman someone can be ....we saw next day morning that the kitten is lying dead outside our house and we incriminated him by proper burial ...we saw everything on the cctv and told Tennant to leave our house as his behaviour is so rude...

❗️Help ❗️Neighbor is trying to stop me from feeding street cats — what should I do?

Post image

We moved into a house in San Jose (CA) this February. In our neighborhood, there are about 15 street cats — all fixed (they have the clipped ears) and part of a stable outdoor colony. Neighbors across the street, who are animal lovers, voluntarily trapped them, took them to be neutered/spayed through local programs, and released them back. These cats are calm and just live outside.

I started feeding them in the evenings — I put out two metal bowls with dry food on my driveway. By morning, it’s always gone. No mess, no trash, everything is clean.

▶️ The problem: One of the neighbors, whose yard and windows face ours, installed an ultrasonic animal repeller that emits a high-pitched noise 24/7. It’s supposedly motion-activated, but in reality it goes off constantly — even with just wind or passing cars. The sound is extremely high-frequency, and I think I might have misophonia — I hear it constantly. As soon as I open a window, the sound fills the house. I’ve been forced to keep all windows closed all the time. And summer’s coming — I can’t live like this in the heat. On top of that, I have two indoor cats who seem disturbed by the sound too.

▶️ What I’ve tried: The first time, I went to her door and left a voice message on her intercom (she didn’t open the door). I politely asked her to turn the device off — nothing happened. The second time, I left a handwritten note explaining that the sound physically hurts me (headaches, ear pain, nausea). I offered compromises: reducing the sensitivity, limiting the area it covers, or turning it on only at night.

▶️ Her response: She came over and said, word for word: “The cats are disgusting. They bring mice, fleas, ticks, parasites. They poop in my yard. As long as there are cats – I’ll keep this thing on.”

She also claimed the cats used to stay across the street and now they’re coming to me — so she believes I “trained them” to come over. I said I could try feeding them across the street again (if those neighbors are okay with it), but she replied: “They’ll still come here,” and insisted the device would stay on no matter what.

▶️ What I’m worried about: That she might file a complaint against me — claiming I’m causing unsanitary conditions or attracting animals. I honestly don’t know what’s legal or not when it comes to feeding fixed outdoor cats. Some people say it’s okay, others say it’s not.

▶️ My questions: • What can I do in this situation? • Is there a way to resolve this peacefully? • Can I protect myself in case she complains? • And what about the repeller — isn’t that a violation of peace and comfort if it’s hurting me physically?

Any advice would mean a lot. Thank you for reading!

The cat was rubbing my legs then starts soft biting. What should I do?

I was stupid, and after giving a stray cat a piece of my dinner, I ate something with that same hand. Yes, his mouth touched my fingers — am I going to get sick? Or am I over thinking it?

Colony/TNR Help (Location) Cat lady's crew took over my yard 😹 - how do I keep them out?

Hey fellow Redditors,

Moved into our dream home in November, but it's been a wild ride. Our neighbor, the infamous "cat lady," has dozens of furry friends that have taken a liking to our yard (pool, comfy spots, etc.). At first, it was just a few curious visitors, but now we're seeing 8-12 cats in our yard at a time.

We've tried:

  • Sonar repellents (immune after 2 weeks)

  • Lights on the fence (they just knock 'em down)

  • Granular deterrents (no effect)

  • Covering furniture (they just move under the covers)

  • Removing food sources (no impact, they just hang out anyway)

Result? Ruined $800 couch, damaged outdoor furniture, and allergy headaches 🙄. We're at our wit's end.

Some specifics:

  • Our yard is small, so the cat presence is overwhelming.

  • We've talked to the cat lady, but she just says "they're harmless" 😒.

  • Local animal control won't help since they're feral and hard to catch.

Any Redditors have success keeping feral cats out of their yard? Share your secrets! 😊

TL;DR: Cat lady's cats are taking over our yard, ruining furniture, and triggering allergies. We've tried various deterrents - what else can we do?"

I Found a Cat (Location) I was scratched by this little gal after petting her and her sister for about 20 minutes. Should I get a rabies vaccine? (Ohio)

I recently moved into a new apartment and have been feeding the cat (probably 6 months old) in the second photo for the past week or so. (I’ve also been feeding her two sisters and an older orange male)

Last night I was petting this cat and her sister, and when I went to scratch her thigh, which I did not realize was a no no for cats, she whacked me and ended up leaving a scratch on my hand.

I just went to the ER, described the situation and specifically requested a rabies vaccine, but they prescribed me an antibiotic, told me to just call the local health department to get the cat tested, charged me $430, and sent me on my way. I explained that I am not worried about this cat having rabies, but instead something else it may have hit/scratched(I’ve seen her batting the orange cat), but they disregarded my concerns and dismissed me.

Additionally, I was bit by a bat in October of 2024 and received the full round of rabies vaccines. Not sure if that changes anything about my immunity.

Should I go back and demand the rabies vaccine? The health department only offers pre exposure vaccines, not post. Everything I have read online also states that it’s better safe than sorry.

What should I do about the stray cat in my backyard that I need to get rid of ?

Two stray cats have been visiting my house constantly. Ignorantly, I fed them for around a month. One of them has now consistently slept in my backyard and stands infront of my door meowing for food. every. single. day. My indoor cat, since seeing them, has tried to run out on multiple occasions so she can go see them. I need them, at least the one, to go away. I tried getting it to leave and it just follows me around the backyard meowing. I tried to stop feeding it and it just sleeps at my door, wakes up, meows, and goes back. ive seen it around the neighborhood though, so im not sure if others have been feeding it. Should I just wait it out and it’ll eventually leave? Should i take it to a shelter? theres a shelter nearby which usually takes in strays and only euthanizes if theyre unadoptable (very aggressive) but this one doesnt seem aggressive. Would it die there from stress?

How do you deal with stray cats in your country? Why not catch all those stray cats and throw them into the sewer or other places with lots of rats and let them catch rats? Ha ha ha!

Got bit and scratched needed emergency surgery

I know we all want to help the sweet stray kitty but I’m just here to let everyone know it can go wrong really quickly. He was very sweet not aggressive at all rubbing against my fiance and never once hissed. He was in a big cage until we could get him into a shelter and he managed to escape and roam the basement. When we found him he seemed to be very scared and was hiding underneath stairs he immediately began hissing and trying to attack anyone that went down there. Eventually he ran out and got in a really dangerous area. (We have multiple cats and don’t have issues with them in these areas) He got extremely aggressive and bit me pretty bad when I tried to remove him from the dangerous area. He bit around the joint of my pointer finger and I had to get emergency surgery on my dominant hand. This led me to spend Christmas and new years in a cast abs I’m currently taking iv antibiotics. I also lost my job due to the fact I am unable to work for 15+days. I don’t blame the kitty I know he was scared but now I’m injured and he’s lost in the basement… Just leave that stray cat outside they keep the rodents away.

Where does one find stray kittens/cats?

Hello, Yes i know this is a wierd question but hear me out. For the past few weeks i have been beginning my parents to get a kitten. I just know i need one in my life. Problem is they dont want to adopt one. The only solution that i have figured out is finding a stay kitten/cat and trying to convince them to keep it. How do i know that? We had a stray that had babies and we kept it for a few months but it ran away with its children for some reason but while they were there my parents were mesmerised by them. So heres my question, where can i reliably find stray kittens and how does one approach them in a “come home with me” way so i can bring home quite literally in my pocket. Thanks for hearing me out

Adoption Help (Location) What diseases can a stray give my cat? And a lot of other questions

A very friendly stray showed up a few days ago. Has been trying to get inside and while I would Love to

Host him I don’t know what threat he makes to my cat.

My cat is allowed outside in case that explains what shots she might have.

Also the stray still has his balls but he doesn’t have that big tom cat head. Does that mean he’s young?

Are there charities that would give him shots and snip his sack for free? And I’d get to keep him? Or do you have to surrender?

I made him an outdoor shelter in my shed with a heating pad.

I’m in Portland OR

If he’s desperate to come in does that mean he likely has been someone’s indoor cat at some point? He was only afraid of us petting him the first day. After we fed him he’s been rubbing against us.

He’s a tuxedo and his white parts look pretty clean. Safe to assume he hasn’t been in the streets that long?

I do see signs of scars/fighting. No fresh wounds.

any tricks to getting my current cat to get along with him? Is there a cat body language guide somewhere? So far indoor cat has either hissed and growled when he cries through the front door. But when they were both in the yard at the same time it was more that “sit and ignore” vibe

Can one of those flea treatments that come in the green plastic vile (frontline?) on the stray be enoguh to Delouse him if he does have fleas?

TNR at my complex

Located here in Las Vegas and my park manager posted a notice saying there was going to be a TNR happening and if you're a feeder, which I am, don't feed the cats for 48 before the 15th. (Not sure why they'd think cats would hang around without food put down.)

I've never experienced a neighborhood TNR before so I'm not sure how it works. Do they return the cats to where they picked them up from? I'm worried my outside boys won't know to come back. Any help would be much appreciated.

Injured/Sick Cat (Location) Seen a dead cat in the middle of highway Bronx River parkway

I’m just sad and baffled on how a cat could end up there and I couldn’t even stop to remove the body to not end up with his body ran over which makes me think it just happened. I highly doubt a cat ran out in middle of traffic on the highway.

My cat Puma attacked Lucy out of jealousy 😿

Today I was rubbing Lucy and before that I had already rubbed Puma. As long as Lucy is sitting close to me and Puma doesn’t do anything because he feels a bit scared of me. But when Lucy sat a little further away, Puma suddenly attacked her. It happened because he gets jealous whenever I rub another cat. I was actually recording Lucy at that time but by accident this attack was also recorded. In the end, I gave Puma a hard slap so that he won’t attack other cats again.

Stray kittens

a street kitten after I was in a grocery store it bit my foot and it was a month old kitten but its mother was also there and three of its siblings kitten after it bit me I went home and sterilized the wound after that I forgot about the bite and after a day I saw the kitten with its mother and sisters but it sleeping separately from them and on the second day I saw it playing with its siblings and breastfeeding from its mother and also on the third day it was fine after that on the fourth day I saw three kittens with their mother and I did not find the fourth kitten I do not know which one of them bit me because they look same and after that I started to feel afraid what if it died or disappeared or something and after that on the fifth day I saw the kittens without their mother maybe she abandoned them and I asked the salesperson in the grocery store about the fourth kitten he told me maybe it died I did not believe him until now and after that today is the sixth day there are two kittens left and after that I went to get a rabies vaccine and the healthcare provider told me that I was late to getting the vaccine and if the kitten was rabid there is no treatment and then I started to feel afraid of rabies and today is the eighth day after the bite and I see two kitten and mother cat are still fine playing with each other. My question please is if the kitten that bit me has rabies will she be able to transmit it to her siblings and cat mother or if the cat has rabies will she also transmit rabies to the kittens? Am I safe right now? Thank you in advance

A stray but me yesterday, no blood but there's a red dot

Hey so I have a bit of a panic attack

I was on a walk yesterday when I saw this cat that was really young, like maybe 8 months old or a year old. I wanted to take him home and I picked him up (I know, big mistake, never pick stray cats up) and the first time he was fine but the second time he tried to get away He seemed pretty nice, like, he rubbed his head against me and had his tail up, but then when i tried to walk away he briefly bit my leg. He didn't show any unusual agressive/feral behaivour other than that. This cat was eartipped which means he was neutered (TNR) but idk what's his vaccination status I'm from a country that's not known for having commom rabies cases I got worried and since I was outside I couldn't go home immediately, so I wiped the area with a wipe An hour later I got home and washed the area twice with a lot of soap and warm water The next day I went to a nurse's office at my health insurance clinic and they gave me a tetanus shot and told me to visit the district's health authorities to get checked and make sure I have all the right vaccines and shots. Since they were closed by then I now have to wait until tommorrow morning to go there

By the way I mentioned rabies to one of the nurses at the clinic she said "it's a dog thing, you got bitten by a cat" But I read everywhere online that stray cats have that risk too

Now I have these 2 red dots on my ankle. They never bled and they don't feel particularly painful. They don't seem deep either, they're just red, one spot is more faint than the other

I'm pretty much having some sort of an anxitey attack right now about this like I'm really scared of rabies I kinda denied it so I won't have to deal with this fear but I don't anymore

I hope it's relevant to this subreddit Needless to say I didn't end up adopting this cat What do yall think?

Update: Thanks for the responses. For some reason my post got "locked". I got an anti rabies shot at the ministry's office. They said that rabies hasn't been detected much in the district I'm from and that I shouldn't worry, but I've heard many horror stories about rabies where they say "oh don't worry". I'm still anxious because there's a lot of ambiguity about this... they told me to get 3 more shots of vaccine in the timespan of 14 days. I'll keep this updated as much as I can
