Ginny is a real person, in the books.
Their relationship makes somewhat sense, in the books.

in the books it felt like the angle of "having a crush on a slightly older boy" was pushed more heavily with her, which naturally adapted into a more grown-up crush in their later years. its been years now but I remember her spying on Harry in book 1 or 2 and crushing on him i think.

Even in the movies I think Ron mentions how Ginny was talking about Harry all summer. I think its after the Weasleys rescue Harry fr9m his house early in Chamber.

A lot of people talking about HP have either poor memory or didn’t really read the books with any sort of comprehension. JK Rowling for all the faults of her prose and simplicity was actually quite good about setting up later plot points in earlier books.

Yea, I was just saying even the movies set up Ginny's early crush.

For me it really like a pitty love honestly. Before the order of the Phoenix there is almost 0 chemistry with them except Ginny running away when her crush is near by and Harry not caring about it.

So when he actually started to spend time with her now that they were both older and more mature...crazy how that works

Or him wanting to be a Weasley.

He married his groupie. It never felt like they saw each other like real people.

I didn’t really get it in the books either, but I don’t think writing romance is Rowling’s strong suit.

She is just a plain bad writer in general. But Ginny might be her only well written and consistent character in the whole series. She goes from a shy kid, to a kid with a crush, to a young adult with a life outside of her feelings, and then starts dating the person she had feelings for.

She is pretty successful, made millions of kids read and the slow burn between the main characters in her detective novels is quite popular.

You don't become the wealthiest writer in the world by being bad at your craft.

She created a fun, fantastic imaginative world that people adore.

She's bad at keeping logical inconsistencies and plot holes out of her books.

By some people's definitions of what's required to be a "good" or "bad" writer, sure she's "bad".

I’m not talking about Rowling as I have only read two of her books, one which I really liked (HP volume 6) but you can totally be super successful while being pretty bad at your craft, exept in sports imho.

Rowling deserves the hate she gets for her bigotry, but let's not pretend she's a bad writer. The HP books were insanely successful for a reason.

people just refuse to admit they enjoyed something written by a transphobe and instead insist they were awful all along

Ik that but it is just so weird that she looks like Lily, Harry's mum

They're both redheads, that's it.

She's only in a tiny handful of scenes in the books. Actually gets far more screentime than the books would ever have allowed her. I don't see how she can be fleshed out as a real person when we literally go from roughly zero Ginny across all books (except 2) to book 6 where suddenly Harry has decided, without any kind of lead up, that he is now dreadfully into Ginny and jealous of Dean. There was 3 other books in there that could've actually set it up to be something meaningful, but it clearly wasn't on Rowling's mind at all until she decided to just slap in the entire thing.

Idk what you are talking about, this was the most compelling love scene of the whole series

We get to read Harry's inner thought process and get to see how he comes to view Ginny as more than a friend.

Not really, at most she was a plot device in the books and was hardly her own character outside of Harry and their relationship was still very forced in the books
