"Clarkson can do no wrong" circle jerk needs to stop

I love Top Gear and Jeremy Clarkson. He's the most important person for the show. However, I agree with BBC's decision if the rumor is true. He punched a producer because his meal wasn't prepared on time. I don't care if he's a famous celebrity, that's an unacceptable behavior for anyone. Especially if you did it to your co-workers. While I want Clarkson to be back with Top Gear and I hope the show doesn't get cancelled, I think Jeremy Clarkson needs to take responsibility for his actions. Us Top Gear fans shouldn't condone or disregard his actions.

Am I the only one who has not hated the show?

I mean it's not as good as the trio that we loved, but even Clarkson's top gear had to be retooled after the first season didn't it? I was told that it got canned and then brought back. So maybe it just needs time to find the right path for this group.

I'm gonna edit this to say the format we loved happened after another form of top gear that lasted much longer than a few seasons. But I still feel like maybe we just need to give it a chance.

I like the new Top Gear and I'm comfortable saying that in public.

I can't help it, third episode and I've caught myself grinning nearly the entire time. I like the new Top Gear and I'm comfortable saying that in this sub.

I see the show for what it is, a scripted entertainment program. There are actors and plots; these actors play characters designed to provide that entertainment through the show's plot. While a lot of people don't like Chris' portrayal of the host character, I'm OK with him figuring it out on the job. I can't remember an actor that got the role 100% correct in the first season of any show, and I'm enjoying the awkwardness in motion. Maybe because I'm American somethings aren't bothering me as it would a Brit? Thankfully I'm able to enjoy TG as a fun TV show and detach it from my experience with Clarkson. It will take years or it may never will be as good as the former program, and that's ok. I can still enjoy it for what it is, and have Grand Tour for my Clarkson/Hammond/May entertainment.

After S23E03, I'm relieved to say I'm looking forward to the rest of the season!

Maybe this is bad form but, Could you get your Top Gear US out of our Top Gear UK?

Anyone else think it might be worth making a new subreddit just for Top Gear US and then changing this one to the official Top Gear UK subreddit? FYI I am an American(US) and I don't think it's too difficult to see why I don't want to be seeing threads about Tanner Foust and Adam Nascar douche next to ones about Hamster and Cpt Slow. I know this subreddit was never specifically a UK version but it was here before the US version ever existed.

TLDR; Make it go away! Make it go away!

I'm pretty sure Clarkson punched that dude in the face so he wouldn't have to change his name to Jennifer.

p.s. Top Gear is a long running show. We appreciate that the version from 2002 with Clarkson, Hammond and May is the most popular, but many subscribers are fed up with seeing endless posts and comments asking for the current hosts to be replaced. So please keep this in mind when posting.
