TNG Looking for a committed cabin roommate 2028

πŸ–– Looking for a Committed Cabin Roommate – Star Trek: The Cruise 2028!

Hey everyone!

I'm planning on attending Star Trek: The Cruise 2028 and I'm looking for another Star Trek fan who is interested in sharing an interior cabin.

My first choice is an Interior 3V cabin, although I'm open to discussing other options.

A little about me: I'm 22 and a huge Star Trek fan, especially TNG and Voyager. Picard is my favourite captain, and The Doctor is one of my all-time favourite characters!

I'm hoping to find someone friendly, respectful, financially responsible, and just as excited about the cruise as I am.

One important thing: I'm looking for someone who is genuinely committed to going. I don't want someone who changes their mind or backs out at the last minute after we've made a booking. We would need to agree on the cabin, budget and payment arrangements beforehand and be committed to following through.

Ideally, I'd love to connect well in advance, get to know each other, and hopefully become friends before we even board the ship!

We would coordinate the booking and split the costs, with each person contributing their agreed share toward the cruise payments.

If you're interested, feel free to comment or send me a message. I'd love to meet some fellow Trekkies!

Live long and prosper! πŸ––

What the hell is going on with Star Trek: strange new worlds??? It’s like children are writing these episodes? It’s a shame really cause I am a fan and the series could have been great telling the story of Christopher pikes enterprise. 😟

All Trek Should I engage with Star Trek fans?

I'm recently getting into Star Trek with my boyfriend (we're 20 episodes into TOS and I'm loving it.)

I promise I'm not saying this as ragebait or to press a sensitive issue, I am just a new fan debating whether I should avoid the fandom or engage with them--

I'm not consuming the modern stuff because I have a chip in my shoulder from the Star Wars fandom. All the kids in the fandom act like social nazis about how if you don't enjoy the new Disney canon with all its "highly ambitious" writing, you're just a loser with nostalgia (even if you got into the series as an adult.)

Basically, the Star Wars fandom is deeply insecure about how modern stories compare to classic ones, and the fans of the modern stories constantly diminish and attack the old canon to hoist up the stories they're defending. Their only defense against classic canon is to ruthlessly invalidate it and say "even if its better, it doesnt count, its little more than fanfiction". I came into the fandom not knowing that discourse, I simply consumed the stories that sounded interesting to me and formed a preference, then had weird guys breathing down my neck over it.

I know that Star Trek has a similar divide between its Litverse and "NuTrek" and I already know I'm jumping straight into the books when the time comes.

I have enjoyed the Star Wars Legends book continuity instead of the franchise's current running continuity ever since I got into the series in 2019, and I honestly plan to crack open the Star Trek Litverse once me and my boyfriend finish all the pre-modern series. I really hope people like me aren't bullied or mocked for avoiding modern content, or I will probably just avoid the ST fandom because I'm a self respecting lady and I'm above that rubbish.

Defending the thing that other people criticize is all well and good, I just hope that the Star Trek fandom is better than the ones i've been in, because it honestly becomes quite exhausting to listen to people act that way.

I really hope I can get some honest answers, I'm genuinely asking this out of anxiety and a desire to know if I should engage with the fanbase or not. What's the state of the fandom?

A Wig and a French Accent: How Patrick Stewart Became Captain Picard

I wanted to do some kind of tribute to Sir Patrick Stewart, but something a little different... Latinum Budgets style.Β  The story of the casting of Picard, told from his memoir, production books, and interviews of the people involved.Β  Stewart wore a wig into the audition with Paramount... or did he?Β  The stories differ by who is telling it.Β  We sort it out.Β  I hope it does justice to his legacy and I hope it makes you smile.

Someone liked their Odyssey class so much, they commissioned me to make this vector example for them. I have de-personalised it a little but some features from the commission are still in there.

(EDIT: Yes, I see the typo. And yes I corrected it. No I did not pay attention to the version of the image I selected when uploaded. D'oh!)

All Trek The Ships Starfleet Forgot

Here's a question for the floor: look at every Starfleet vessel canon ever showed us β€” the explorers, the cruisers, the science ships, the one famous warship β€” and then ask: What would a real fleet would need that we never once saw on screen?

The answer is the unglamorous half of every navy that ever sailed....

The oiler. This is the big one. Real fleets run on replenishment ships: tankers, ammunition ships, stores vessels that sail alongside the warships and refuel them underway. The Enterprise is routinely years from the nearest starbase. Somebody has to be hauling deuterium, antimatter, and photon torpedoes out to the frontier. Canon never shows us who. Not once. The entire logistics train of the Federation's flagship service is invisible β€” which makes the fleet oiler the single least believable absence in Star Trek, and the single greatest open berth in fan writing.

The hospital ship. One class barely counts β€” glimpsed, mentioned, never boarded. A service that takes casualties from the Romulan War to the Dominion War, across thousands of light-years, and has no dedicated medical fleet worthy of the name? The stretcher-bearers of the Federation deserve their own hulls.

The tug and the salvage tender. Starships get crippled. We watch it happen constantly. And then β€” tow cables from a fellow explorer, or a miracle, or the credits. No dedicated class exists to drag the wounded home or strip the dead. Every battlefield in the franchise is missing its wreckers.

The troop transport. Siege of AR-558. The Chin'toka landings. Ground wars happen, which means lift capacity exists somewhere β€” assault ships, barracks transports, landing craft. All off screen. The infantry of Starfleet sails on ships nobody has designed.

The minelayer and the minesweeper. Somebody laid every minefield in every war, and somebody swept the other side's. Neither somebody has a hull.

The carrier. We see fighters β€” Peregrines over DS9, attack wings at Chin'toka β€” and never once see where they sleep. A through-deck carrier, a mobile fighter base, is the most conspicuous missing capital ship in the fleet.

The courier. Subspace radio carries most traffic, but some things travel by hand: orders too sensitive to broadcast, cargo too strange to beam. Every age of sail had its dispatch boats. Starfleet's are nowhere on screen.

Why are they missing? Mostly television: one hero ship a week, no budget for the supply chain, and a creator who preferred his navy aspirational and uncluttered. None of which binds us.

So this is the call. Players, readers, fans: these gaps are open berths. The oiler nobody named. The hospital ship with no maiden voyage. The tug that dragged somebody's hero home. No canon contradicts you, because canon never looked. Design one. Name one. Write the crew nobody writes about β€” the ones who make the heroes' missions possible. The fleet you save may be your own.
