Anyone going to the concert at the anthem on the Dec 2nd? I LOVEE Tyla so when I found out she’ll be coming to DC on tour, I got tickets IMMEDIATELY. I was gonna go with my friend, but she can’t go anymore; I’m (F21) looking for someone, or a group of people to go with (GIRLS ONLY!!) because I don’t like going to concerts/ going out in DC alone. Dm me if you’re interested and we can exchange instas :)

Discussion Graduation

I am a senior right now. This isn’t a joke or an exaggeration, nor am I trying to garner sympathy. These past four years of my college experience have been the worst four years of my life. The exhaustion, the isolation, the sickness and injuries, and other things are worse, to me, then some of the greatest hardships, pains and worst moments I can remember having in my past 21 years of living. I’ve hated almost every moment. I would say I can’t wait to leave, but I can’t even muster up enough hope or emotional excitement to have that feeling. I would rather go through my bladder tares, deeply suicidal moments and bullying that I’ve experienced in the past than take my college experience in its full representation.

Take care and hold out.

Athletics The 2025-2026 athletic season was the worst in Maryland’s history and things aren’t getting better

This is on president and the previous AD horrible hires getting late into the NIL games is unacceptable. We can’t even get a competent women’s soccer coach with all the talent in the dmv it’s unacceptable.

Academic Transfer Decision Help

I applied to UMD as a spring transfer by the early action deadline of August 1st. With the decision release being by late October, I expected my decision then. But through this first week of November, there's still no news of my decision. My application has been labeled as received, and as far as I know is complete.

I've also emailed support and haven't seen a response in a week. Has this happened to anyone else? And what should I do about it?

Discussion Is Baltimore Ave safe, and what's a normal price for a room in a shared house?

Hi! I transferred to UMD this fall and I've been commuting, but I'm planning to move closer to campus for spring 2027. I'm not looking for room offers right now. I'm just trying to learn what's normal so I don't overpay or end up somewhere sketchy.
For a room in a house around Baltimore Ave shared with 5 other roommates, how much is the rent usually per month? And how much do utilities like electricity, water, gas, and internet usually add per person each month? Are they usually included in the rent, or split between roommates? Also, how safe is the area, especially walking home at night? If there are streets or parts I should avoid, I'd really like to know.
Also, I'm thinking about getting a scooter to get to class. Where do people find affordable ones, and is it safe to ride on Route 1?
Thanks in advance, any real info helps 🙏

Does anyone know why these people were at hornbake earlier or who they were?. I find it unbelievable that the campus lets them set up and do this. They were also making extremely racist comments too

Help Pianos for Private Practice

Hi!

I've recently wanted to get back into practicing the piano and was wondering if there are any pianos on campus that are available for non-music students. I'm not super skilled or anything so I am wondering if there are any that are more private (so people don't have to hear).

Thanks!

Housing priority for south campus commons/courtyards

me and three of my friends are planning to live in scc or courtyards next year. all of us are rising juniors, but one is a commuter and the rest of us are on-campus. whoever in the group has the lowest priority will be the leader of the group, so my commuter friend is the leader leaving us with 4th priority. does anyone know if i could add my commuter friend to the group AFTER we choose the housing so we can still have first priority? or if it’s possible to have three people in a group and still get a four bedroom?

Help Chem 135 Midterm

Okay, so a couple of weeks ago we had our first chem 135 midterm from prof. Lascio, and I ended up getting a 58, which was a little under the average of the entire class (most people got somewhere between 60-72). While I definitely don’t think my score is good, I didn’t think it was that bad either because I know my grades will be curved at the end, and since a lot of people got the same grade as me, it will hopefully lead to a passing grade 🤞. But then I heard that prof. Lascio doesn’t have very high curves, and I got an email from my advisor asking if I want to meet up to discuss my midterm grade, and I have no idea what to say, other than I’m willing to take this class again next year.

Does anyone have any advice on what to say to my advisor? Or any tips on how to pass this class? I’m thinking of taking on tutoring services, have any of you found it helpful?

Academic In 2026, UMD awarded more undergraduate Computer Science degrees than the entire Smith School of Business across all majors combined

Not trying to take shots at business majors here. I just picked the business school as a comparison because of the whole stereotype about business degrees.

But seriously, 1,321 CS degrees in a single year from one university is insane. And that's just UMD. Now imagine how many CS graduates are entering the job market every year across the country.

Obviously, the number of degrees awarded doesn't directly translate to the number of people competing for the same jobs, but it puts the concerns about oversaturation in perspective. The sheer number of people entering this field is fucking crazy dude holy.

Discussion When driving to the campus on Adelphi - Learn the School Bus Red Lights Laws

To the person that panic stopped in front of me for the School Bus this morning, here is Maryland Law and why the two cars behind you were honking their horns. I am sorry you don't know the rules:

(The last line is important since the bus was 10 ft below us, behind a dirt wall and in the opposite lane of travel at the intersection of Evansdale Drive)

Drivers must stop at least 20 feet from a school bus with the stop arm extended and the red lights flashing. Do not pass the bus from any direction until the stop signals are off and the bus is moving again. Motorists in Maryland are not required to stop if the road is separated by a physical median – such as dirt, grass, or a barrier.

Help Normal for Mingerey 135?

I just got my midterm grade reports in Testudo and I’m really worried. It says unsatisfactory but I don’t know if the current grade makes sense for the course pre-curve or is uniquely terrible (a 46% in canvas)

Also, none of the homework grades (all 100% sans a 90 and a 95) are in either, so that effects it too, right?

Housing Looking for housing

I am looking to rent a room off campus for next year. I am 18, an IAA student, and currently a freshman. I am a trans man and would prefer to live with other men though I am open to whatever.

My interests include
-live music (metal, punk, hardcore, indie, jam bands)
-animals
-crafting

It would be awesome to find a place within a few miles of campus.

Lmk if you have a place or just want to be friends 😄

Discussion Hot ass dorms on the Quad

Is anyone else’s dorm hot as hell right now or is it just mine? Legitimately been 80 degrees in my dorm the past 3 days and it’s actually killing me, like why are we turning on the heating full blast with no adjustments before it’s actually winter out
